View Full Version : Big changes from Titans....Drop Eddie George and Kearse....

The Tennessee Titans need to slash about $16 million by March 2 to comply with next year's salary cap.
General manager Floyd Reese said at the NFL combine he has devised three ways to cut the money, all of which involves defensive end Jevon Kearse, who could become a restricted free agent.
One strategy is to place the franchise tag on Kearse, something Reese would prefer not to do because it would cost the team $6.5 million next season. Reese said he met with Kearse's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, until about midnight Friday.
The team has until the end of the day on Tuesday to decide if it will use the franchise tag on Kearse.
"The franchise tag is actually the worst possible situation for everybody because he drops the signing bonus," Reese said. "And we get a guy who's not going to be there during the offseason, who gripes, who's not going to be there during training camp.
"It's a way to keep him, but it's an ugly way out."
The Titans are also trying to restructure Eddie George's contract, and while Reese was noncommittal on what it would take to keep George, he said George's backup, Chris Brown, would see more playing time this year.
"Chris will definitely play more but it is our intention to try and keep Eddie as a backup",Reese said. "Hopefully, we can do that."

You're an idiot, stop copying and pasting articles from other sites. If you read the article, there's a good chance kearse will be in a titan uniform and a 99% chance that george will retire as a titan.

If you look deep into some new articles....the Titans dont want to "Franchise" Kearse...and i just read on a very good Ravens websight that Kearse has been talking with the "Ravens", Uh oh.........Kearse in a Ravens Uniform........along with Sapp and Terrel Owens.....hmmmm all the Makings of a Super Bowl Team.....And at least the Ravens have won a SuperBowl which i attended...In Tampa Florida where i was living in 2001......and it might not have been fun for anyone to watch but Us Ravens fans........The Ravens put on a clinic that day and will go down in History as the Bast D Ever.....and they beat the Titans that year 24-10 in Tennesee where the Ravens are UNDEFEATED.......Can you say "al del greco" ...lol......or how about the Ravens knocking out Eddie George......The Ravens are the Youngest team in the NFL and will only get better which is scary if you think about it......which is why there are so many haters....being scared is perfectly normal.......peace!

Dude, we don't hate the Ravens as much as we hate your made up information.
Fewest Points allowed in a Season? Where do you get this cr-ap?
2000: Ravens 163 points allowed
1982: Washington 128 points allowed
1982: Miami 131 points allowed
1977: Falcons 129 points allowed
1977: Denver 148 points allowed
1976: Steelers 138 points allowed
1975: Rams 135 points allowed
1975: Steelers 162 points allowed
want me to keep going back in History?.. OK
1973: Dolphins 150 points allowed
1971: Colts 140 points allowed
1970: Vikings: 143 points allowed
1969: Vikings 133 points allowed
There were 26 more teams in history with fewer points allowed than the Ravens.
Also, they had only 1 more shutout game than the 2003 Patriots. So I think it's people hating your made up cra-p more than anything. It's OK to be a fan of the Ravens but stop BLOWING THEM UP like this...you're giving a new meaning to the words Fantasy Football
BTW, in your famed 2000 season...the Titans allowed FEWER yards, (3,813yds) defensively than your Ravens did so, ....defeated again
Please Check your stats on NFL.COM before you make future comments as it would help the people of this forum to take you more seriously.

I understand that but he shouldn't say EVER.
How many games were in the 1982 season? Not enough because it was the Strike year..OK well in 1977 there was a 14 week schedule, Falcons would've had to give up 33 points in those final 2 games to NOT beat the Ravens...Hard to tell...S.O.B. might be right but you can't project it like that, I just prefer more accurate outlooks on your team if you're going to openly Promote them...How about "argueably"?
Sure I probably took it to the next level of absurdity by going THAT far back but still, I don't think he's mathmatically correct even if you factored in a shorter season...however that works out. It has to be taken into perspective of how many games were actually played, but again I'm no mathmetician. I do think he's over hyping the Ravens a bit by putting people on his roster before they actually are.
Perhaps wishful thinking..All right..I'll lay off you Ragin_Gonad...but I'm still sour about all that JUNIOR stuff.. 8)

Another thing to keep in mind - the talent level of ALL players has increased over the years, so you have to give the Ravens their due respect. They won a Super Bowl with junk at QB and relied on that defense to carry them all the way to the championship.

The Ravens broke alot of records that year ......and included some in the SuperBowl......Now im a rabid football fan and that year was the best in my life for many reasons.....I got to go to the game with my Dad and i met my wife and things were just going so good ...so i have alot of great memories....My stats are most of the time right...i get my info from alot of places ....i was right when i said most shutouts in a season....5.... i was right when i said fewest points....The Ravens won games that year when in 5 games they didnt score a TD .....not alot of other teams would have been able to win games 6-3 or 9-6.....Baillie we played and i beat you 49-45 ...so thats 4 points ...your missed FG meant nothing.....but it was a nice game ...you got some skills.....and ohh yes the Ravens have the most cap room....a little over 24 million!! and with no first round draft pick (because they traded it to the Patriots for there's last year and got Kyle Boller) they wont have to spend tons of cash .......so they can focus on free agents...like Terrel Owens and warren sapp........and the Ravens have almost every player under contract ...and franchsed Chris Mcalister.......I am right on all these ponts and anyone can feel free to check it out...www.baltimoresun.com or www.baltimoreravens.com thanks and have a great day all!!!

And to think that I missed my TRUE calling and got into marketing and sales....
I like the Ravens, but without a QB they will always rely on the defense to carry them.
I will give Jamal Lewis credit though, because any player that can rush for 2,000 yards when the defensive is expecting the run is amazing. Add to that the fact that he now holds the record for rushing yards in a game and he's one of the more under-appreciated players in the game.

This is the thing the Ravens have a QB.....#8 Kyle Boller .....he will be the starter next year and he has the tools and the talant...Heck Peyton Manning didnt start off on fire and look at him now......Kyle Boller is Mobile has a strong arm and is smart...he has all the tools...the Ravens need a big time WR and i think that if/when they sign Terrel Owens that will have to be treated as a threat....they will hav eto double cover him...just because the threat is there...and that leave a gap for todd heap or Marcus Robinson or Travis Taylor to catch a few balls....and then when teams are playing pass BOOM!! Jamal comes at them...and look for a little known back to carry the ball a bit more this year...#32 Musa Smith from UGA....He was a rookie last year but the Ravens will get him into more games this year ...he will be a great back for the Ravens Future....

I'm going to have to disagree with you here RAVE_NOMAD.... Kyle Boller has YET to prove that he is the real deal. Keep in mind that Anthony Wright took over and made the offense click at the end of last year.
Making comparisons of Kyle Boller to Payton Manning is quite a stretch because Manning played EVERY game his rookie year and learned from that...and now IS one of the best QB's in the game.
I'm not saying that Boller can't be THE GUY in Baltimore, but something doesn't jive when a back-up QB makes the offense click and gave guys like Marcus Robinson a chance to revive his career after leaving Chicago.

February 24th, 2004, 01:47 PM
Well Baltimore and Coach Billick belevied in Boller enough to give up a first round pick for him.....And they already said Boller will be the starter in 03-04...They hired formen Giants Coach Jim Fossal to help teach him and Kyle Boller is staying in Baltimore all off season to work on his game......Anthony Wright wont be back with the team it looks like....as he is a free agent and coach Billick told him that he wont start here and if he has the chance to go somewhere and start he should to that .....The Ravens had Playoff expectations last year and they still started Boller that proves they saw something in him......I watched him play in all the games he played in and i say alot of talant...very,very mobile...and a super fast release as well a being very smart and acurate......the game takes about a year before it slows down enough for a QB ...I think adding a guy like Terrel Owens will be the First step in Kyle Boller being a great, great Quarterback ...almost like a Troy Aikman type with Dallas his first 2 years .......solid TE..Jay Novachek...while the Ravens have Todd Heap..... Solid RB Emmit Smith with a big line...while the Ravens have the Biggest Line in the NFL and the best back in Jamal Lewis......Micheal Irvin in Dallas....... Soon to be Terrel Owens in Baltimore......Alvin Harper in Dallas as a nice secondary Rec.....in Baltimore you get your pick either Marcus Robinson oe Travis Taylor ...both of which really came on in the second half of the season....and Dallas had a tough Defence.......and we all know the Ravens Defence is awesome ...and the Ravens are the Youngest team in the NFL with all there core group of players being under contract for years to come!!! Nuff said ..but i respect your opinion!!! Peasehttp://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Field/7380/RRhlmtlogo.gif

I keep seeing you banking on Owens coming to Baltimore - and while that is a possibility - I see Owens going to a team that he KNOWS he'll be the focus of that offense. Baltimore doesn't fit that mold. The Ravens have plenty of cash to spend, but are they willing to spend a big chunk of that to get Owens??
I say they won't because as you stated, they have a great group of young, talented players and won't do anything to change that atmosphere.
I live in Dallas, so I saw the early 90's Cowboys built. Everyone focused on the big 3 (Aikman, Irvin, Smith - all great players!) when the attention really should have been on the offensive line that provided Aikman the time to throw the ball to Irvin and Harper and opened the holes for Smith. I'm not trying to take anything from "the triplets" but that line deserved much more credit for the Cowboys success in the early 90's.

I agree....I played O-line in High School and in College....Thats why the Ravens are going to do so well.......They have the Biggest-youngest line in the league.......And Terrel Owens wants to win and wants to get paid and the Ravens said they are going to go after a big named Rec.......It was a tossup between Keyshawn Johnson and Terrel Owens but it looks like Keyshawn is heading for Dallas for Joey Galloway......so i really have faith and beleave the Ravens will get a big named guy...wheather it is Owens or not ....doesnt really matter to me ..any star rec..would be a upgrade.....and i have a really good feeling they are going to sign Warren sapp to bolster an already awesome D-line.....
Slick-Mick
February 24th, 2004, 02:28 PM
Why throw money at Sapp when he's over 30 and his best days are behind him??
Besides, you know that Sapp is going to want to get paid as this may be his FINAL contract he ever signs before retiring.

at 31 he still has a few good years left and the fact that he wants to get paid is why the Ravens will sign him.....They have the money and he wants to win...both things will happen in Baltimore....peace!

I think it's highly unlikely the Patriots will repeat as the NFL will expect them to be good....I think most teams took them lightly this past season and they were coached ...just...good...enough..to squeak by and win it all from the big time underdog Panthers.....how much did they win by again??? Ohhh yeaaaa....3......Remember this is still the same Patriots team that didnt make the Playoffs 2 years ago and thats why they surprised everyone....they got whacked by the Bills in game one of the season 31-0.......I remember thinking ..man they suck ...and then they lost to Washington...i mean c'mon......also they didnt have the strongest schedule in the League......So in my Humble opinion its very unlikely they repeat ...as well in this day and age a few teams with just a few key free agents might surprise like the Pats did last year...gone are the days of the Dynasty....peace!

The Patriots beat up the League. Period. Even if it was by 1 point...The W went to the Patriots. Game one against Buffalo was a REVENGE game for them and a highly pumped up Lawyer Milloy had them fuming and ready to kill. That was Game 1. Then to lose to the Redskins...That's nothing to be ashamed of, you make the Redskins sound like SCRUBS. Last time I checked, they were a Professional Football team too. Can you please name the OTHER teams the Patriots lost to last year? I'm waiting Gonad....
If you read the way Gonad writes...he's just Jealous of the Patriots. He wishes his team had 1/2 the talent the Patriots have and he's in denial about the word Dynasty. I don't think this is about money. He wants Donovan McNabb throwing him the ball cause McNabb is a winner and has a BOMB arm....right up T.O.'s alley. He'll get MORE opportunities to make BIG PLAYS over in Philly, that's what this guy is all about. Sure Baltimore was on his list but he's filing a grievence for the TEAM he unded up on...not the money involved. He didn't come out on ESPN and say he was mad at the money....he's mad about the team he's on...and rightly so for his expectations. He cannot be TO on the Ravens. He COULD be TO on the Eagles. In the end, it's what suits T.O. that matters to T.O.
He doesn't care about causing friction in the Ravens Locker room...different city...same guy. Shame shame shame..your Big Acquisition is crying already and this is not a good thing for the Ravens IMO. With this cra-p and the Lewis thing...I don't see how this was a Family Gathering Moment. Maybe everything will work out in the end. maybe Philly will get him after all. You guys need a BIGTIME receiver in Baltimore? There's a whole PLANET full of receivers that won't give you as much headaches as this guy.
I swear if I woke up tomorrow to the news that the Patriots signed him, I'd take a huge GULP...we don't need negative energy in our locker room...I don't care if the guy caught 30 TD passes, if he's an a55, show him the door.
T.O.'s only an a55 when he's UNHAPPY. Right now...he's being an a55. But I do think the 49ers screwed him on purpose just to have the last laugh. Pretty Slick move by Donahoe or Donahue, whatever that guy's name is out in San Fran. He screwed T.O. good enough to make Vince McMahon proud.

How many superbowls did TB win before Gruden?
How many superbowls did Dallas win before Switzer?
Point I'm making is you could've plug any coach in Dallas and the result probably would've have been the same....
If you honestly believe that Dungy was going to get TB to the superbowl and win, then you my friend are sadly mistaken, and make up the small minority of Dungy lovers that want to believe so. He may do something in Ind, but in TB his Offense parked in the handicap zone.
I don't like either one of those teams. I used to like TB, but that was when they were orange, and had Hardy Nickerson, Eric Rhett, Demetris DeBouis, etc. Believe me, the worst thing you can say about me is to call me fair weather....
Don't tell me about fare weather fans. I grew up and live in Houston, TX. I was present at the Astrodome for astros/oiler games when it was empty, and sold out, thanks to my parent's season tickets. (still sour about the oilers leaving  ) And i have and will continue to reup my own season tickets for the Texans.... You know I remember Rave_Nomad having dog trainer in his profile. Coincidence? Back to the wrestling references, is this when the heel loses the "Loser leaves town" match and comes back wearing a mask under a different persona?
Well, at least this persona has switched to decaff, is bearable, and world doesn't revolve around the Ravens.

So, Ravens_beat_you...
You were born in Maryland, and moved to Tampa. Got that part. Now you are back in MD (fear the turtle y'all) rooting for the Ravens. Your choice, and no blues about it.
Since you called out the Bucs fans for when they were the Yucs non-fans let me ask you this:
How long were you a Baltimore fan before they won the Super Bowl? Or to be more precise, do you own a Bert Jones jersey?
Hailing from Maryland myself (Born in DC, moved to MD before I was 2...and been here ever since) I've seen lots of 'fair weather fans'. Baltimore is no different than Tampa. Washington on the other hand has had a sold out stadium since...well I tend to think it's been that way since before you were born. Careful about pointing fingers when it comes to Fanhood...

I have always been a Baltimore fan,
I have all my Unitas things and a whole room dedicated to the Baltimore Colts...and when Baltimore got a team you better beleive i was lined up in the cold to watch the first practice.....With Ernest Byner,Mike jackson,Derrick Alexander, eric Green......and so on and so forth...
I still watched football after the Colts left town but i didnt have a fave team or anything...then when the Ravens came to town i felt born again.... and it started all over.....so i liked the Ravens when they were losers and i like them now.....i am a true fan.....Rave_nomad and i are not one in the same i promise you that much...no Hulk Hogan/mr. America swerve here folks....
