View Full Version : How can I choose what song I want to play for my custom arena music?

This seems different than NHL 2K6 for the original Xbox. The instructions look just about exactly the same during the tutorial, and I just cannot seem to figure it out. I cannot seem to choose a specific song, only specific playlists for certain events, and I'm not even sure if I'm doing it right. Can someone provide a detailed explanation on how this works. I'd love to get my home team's actual themes playing in the correct situations like I had them on my old version.

Thanks,

It seems that if you make specific playlists using the Xbox 360 Dashboard you can then assign those playlists to the specific actions and incidents. Just make sure that you name them something that you'll remember in the Dashboard. I'm calling all of mine stuff like NHL Penalty, or NHL Intro-non Wings, etc... If you do it this way, it WILL play what you want when you assign the playlists in the game. I'm thinking the devs maybe forgot to change the instructions in the game or something, who knows. Maybe it was something that wasn't working correctly so they changed it but then didn't change the text in the game.

I hope this helps... If anyone else finds any other ways to really get it working properly then please share.

Hi guys,

I had the same problem. This is a different system to the xbox 2k6.

You no longer can assign specific songs to events, you have to assign entire playlists!?!

So rip your tunes into the 360, then add the tracks you want to your playlist (yes, name them according to their event - i.e., "home goal" or "intro").

There is a major problem though...

THE **** MUSIC DOESN'T STOP PLAYING WHEN THE PUCK IS DROPPED!!!

IT WILL PLAY UNTIL A NEW EVENT OCCURS AND THE SONG FOR THAT BEGINS ?!?!

At least NHL 2k6 for xbox stopped the music after the puck was dropped (most of the time)...

I've had to shorten my clips to a generic 20-30 seconds, the rip them back to my 360 so when they play, they'll end eventually!

Let me know if anyone gets this to work PROPERLY!

Thanks for the tips, Cozmicoz. I was ready to chuck my wireless controller into the fireplace (well not really, but I thought about it...), after I had looked at the help menu LITERALLY like 30 times, trying to figure out just what the heck they were talking about, choosing songs, editing your clip, etc., when in reality, you can choose nothing any further down than the actual playlist with your custom music in it.

I had already edited my clips down to 30ish seconds, as I didn't anticipate that the game would have a feature to do that (looks like maybe they intended to, but obviously that's not happening in reality right now).

I did what you guys did, had individual songs (in some cases) in their own playlists, named things like "nhl home goal", and the likes thereof.

The problem for ME was that after doing all that, and then reassigning them all to the events, etc., only a few even worked. My home penalty worked (and then continued to play until the clip was over, even while the game was going on), but nothing else did. Most notably, not the home goal. You can stop your clip by pausing/unpausing very fast, but that's pretty stupid to have to do that.

I THINK that the "intro" music was working, but it was very soft. I had the ARENA MUSIC slider all the way up (which I foolishly figured applied to the custom clips I had inserted), but in fact, the MENU MUSIC slider is what made the clips (the ones that worked) louder for me.

Is anyone else having problems with only some of your clips working? Anyone else have to use the MENU music slider to adjust their volume?

If you're reading this, devs, your system is a freakin' MESS. It would be highly preferable for next year if you'd fix this.
