Now I may be listing the same franchise problem as another has on this forum, but I felt like expressing it just in case it isn't.
During my first franchise game, I couldn't help but notice that the custom music stopped chiming in during the designated times. I paused it went to the option screen to make for sure I hadn't accidentally done something without remembering and no, I hadn't. Then, before each face off, a box kept popping up asking me which option I would like to disable (crease control, on the fly coaching, etc.).
Being the loyal hockey fan I am, I continued through to the end of the game, but was horribly dismayed when I went to the save menu and all my files (profile, soundtrack, settings, and franchise) were listed as corrupted. My heart literally dropped to the tips of my boots. With all the rumors of 360 hardware bugs, I was terrified at the thought that I was one of those unlucky few (hopefully just a few) that had received a turd machine.
Quickly popping the game out of the system, I examine the rest of my saves and found there to be no problem.
I'm about to go back and try once more with the advice handed down in an earlier post and I hope to all that's good in the world that it works, but if there is someone out there who knows more than me, please let me know it's only a bug in the game and not the hardware.

It gets even deeper, apparently. I just fired the 360 back up with the game inside and a screen popped up that I never want to see again. "IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME, PLEASE PUT IT IN A 360 CONSOLE." Well, that is not what I wanted to see, but I persevered.
After trying my other 360 games and discovering that they still ran just fine, I went and deleted all the NHL 2K6 save files from my hard drive and rebooted it. To my great relief, it is now up and running again. Thankfully, I hadn't really played but a couple of times and didn't have many files that I was worried about losing.
I created 3 players, if that info will get me help any quicker. I'm about to try and create them once again, but if this is a reoccuring nightmare, then I will gladly trade this game in on something that actually works.
Something similar happened to me on 2k5, but that was an injury related bug and it did not keep me from loading the game entirely. Plus, that was a quick fix that did not involve the deletion of the entire game's existence from my hard drive.
I'm really dissapointed that 2k would release a game with a fatal bug such as this just to have it on store shelves on launch night.

It might seem like I'm smoking crack here, but I might have discovered a solution to my own problem.
After my third attempt failed, I went back in, created my few players all over again, started another franchise, and then saved it. I then got back to my 360 dashboard and erased just the roster save. Back into the franchise, played the first game set to just 1 minute periods to test it out, and wah-lah, everything was fine coming out the other end. As it is past 2 in the AM here, I might not have the energy to test out the first game set on longer periods (I've always played at 7 minutes so the score doesn't get out of hand, but with the NHL these days, a 10-7 game isn't all that unusual), but when I do, I'll update you.

I shall offically deem it the "Corrupt Roster Bug".
Anyone having trouble with the Franchise mode saying that your files are damaged just need to go to your 360 dashboard and erase your roster save.
To bring in created players or user altered rosters, just create and alter them without saving and then go straight into a new franchise. For some reason when you have a roster save present, it causes all the problems that myself and others have listed.
I just played through the first franchise game and came out the other end without the bug present. It's too bad that we can't have the rosters for non-franchise play, but I'll take the franchise anyday.
I hope this helps out my fellow hockey fanatics.
