I would like to see a crazy amount of random detail in the next 2k Hockey game
(the best on the market for YEARS), time to set them aprat in the features mode too,
not that they're not already, BUT....
1. I have NEVER seen much REWARD for winning the stanley cup in ANY hockey game really, ESPECIALLY nowadays playing a few season-franchise, just a little team running around with the cup and the team pic and an interview or two, but how about this....
A. On the 1st home game of the NEXT season in franchise mode, you would see the team with the stanley cup like they do in real like, or how about BANNER RAISINGS??!?!
NO ONE HAS DONE BANNER RAISINGS!!! I think that would be sweet to see you raise a banner at the beginning of next season for whatever you accomplished....
(Even Conference champs if you don't win the cup, or whatever)
B. Retiring of Numbers and banners raised for retired players in a long Franchise mode (After 2+ Seasons of Fran. mode and maybe at least 5 years on the team, something like that).
2. The ALL-STAR games always seem to be picked in advance in ALOT of games, how about letting the "3 stars" HELP in the selection process, OR have a MADDEN-esque "Votes" by the fans to show who's in the lead and so on, or even do that but let the gamer vote each week who he wants outta say the top 3 voted players. That would be a cool addition.
3. WHERE ARE THE ZAMBONIS BETWEEN PERIODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
....AND THE ONE OR TWO SWEEPS BY THE ZAMBONIS BEFORE THE SHOOTOUT.....
4. Since the shootout is now so special, maybe have an OPTION to go 1st person, to kind of change the shootout around, maybe even incorporate the crease control also so you have to do the scoring AND the goaltending in the shootout, make it an option for those who don't want it, but it would be nice to have the option if possible. Although crease control still needs a little work, it's the best so far out there, and im confident in 2K games ability to make it stellar in the future.
That's all for now, comment, agree , disagree, whatever
Let's just keep ideas coming for next year and see some user submitted content!

#1 WORK on Player faces, DRASTICALLY (learn from EA, play NHL 06)
#2 Make different makes for every goalie - it's annoying to see a plain colour. At least if the team symbol was on the mask i'd be content.
#3 Players too shiney, make the game look a little more "rough"
I think gameplay wise the series is top notch...to bring it to next gen, visuals are in desperate need of fixing.

I totally agree about having more incentive to win the cup via banner raisings (maybe even a brief locker room celebration with spraying champagne and drinking from the cup)...

You have the power on the 360 to do it. So do it. I don't want to play a cartoon anymore.

I wont be buying 2K hpckey again (I have 2K5...its a great game) but I now have a 360 and expect a next gen look unless the start improving things...making it different.
1. They really need to update the graphics. Its poor IMO. A new graphics engine like NBA Live 06 did with the 360. I didnt buy that game due to the lack of features, but I downloaded the demo and it looks fantastic. 2k7 needs a brand new graphics engine. End of story.
2. Player detail. I want the players to actually look like the players. Faces need a major improvement. Hockey players sweat too. And also lets have wet and helmet hair...no static hair anymore...its about time this gets updated graphically.
3. Create a player needs ALOT more depth. Its nice to choose faces...it would be better to have more selection along with creating your own face from scratch. Or better yet...have an import face feature like EA sports use to have for their PC titles back in the day.
4. Create a team needs ALOT more customization. This goes to jersey selection all the way to building your rinks. Detail in customization here is a big thing with next gen gamers. I dont want to just choose from 5 or 6 generic coloured jerseys...lots more please. Same with logos. You should be able to choose and mix and match colours if you want to be a little goofy as well. International and junior team jerseys as well should be included.
6. AI. 2K is good for the AI, but it still needs improving in the defense and goalie aspects of the game. I would also like to be able to manually deke a goalie and put it through his five hole once in a blue moon.
7. As above...manual deke ala 2K5 needs to be back with similar controls and able to do it at anytime and anywhere on the ice.
8. More details like zambonis, crowds, mascots, etc.
9. NBA 2k6 for the 360 is nice, but lets also update the crowds and coaches too.
10. Playoff atmosphere. Crowd ambiance, excitement...that needs to be there. ALOT more. I want to feel a difference when I am in the playoffs and when I am not.
11. Lets have more than just 5 simple achievments. There should be tons of different acheievements.
12. Record books = replayability. Whether its beating Gretzky's points in one season or lifetime or whatever...there should be a detailed record book that can link to certain achievements. Individual team records can also be broken.
13. Commentators and play by play. While I dont have an issue with Bob Cole and Harry Neale...there should be more depth to what they say. They should also spotlight and talk about certain big game performers from the last game...who is on a hot or cold streak...injuries, and have them reflect in some way to stats from previous seasons if you play multiseasons. This adds depth to replayability.
14. Awards show or banner raising for Cup or Conference winners at the beginnig of the next year...also mentioned by several people.
15. A bigger Cup ceremony rather than just a couple of mins of certain players holding the thing and then a team pic. Lets have more details here and make it longer.
16. Replays replays replays. Better replays.
17. Presentation and menus. Time to update to the next gen like NBA Live 06 did with the 360.
These are just a few ideas to get the ball rolling. I would expect pretty much all of these things should be touched on for a next gen game. Its alot to expect, but hey....if you want my money...thats what I want.
Ciao

Fix the networking code. Start from scratch, please.
All the 2K6 games from 2K Sports have had horrible online play bugs.
NHL 2K6 on XBox is not recording league game stats regularly and the lobby interface is ****. What's with the jumbled up names? I won't go into the other 2K6 games this time. Let's just say some of them are even worse.
Allow true online cooperative play. I should be able to team up with my buddies in Canada to play against other friends. This shouldn't be that hard to accomplish. I want 5 on 5 (6 on 6, if you can control goalies too) action. I'd settle for ANY coop play though, even if it's just 2 on 2 (gotta start somewhere).
Better and more comprehensive online stats. I want to see how my line #4 defensemen is doing against team X while playing on Pro difficulty with sim settings compared to how he's doing against team Y on All-Stars difficulty. Same for team stats. Cross-referencing, filtering, more complete set of stats, etc.
And when you reset the stats, RESET the stats, instead of resetting half of them, e.g. resetting total games played while leaving your shots on goal total alone, leading to shots on goal of 400 / game after your first game after reset.
Could you also please stop meddling with the goalies? Every year their ability to save shots is different. Just keep it consistent already. 2K5, imho, was just about right. 2k6 is way too easy to score.
Fix user interface issues. Why can't I load playstyles and strategy settings for an online game even though I can do that for single-player games? Don't make any sense to me.
Fix online.2ksports.com. You've got features still "temporarily" disabled, what, 3 months after you launched the game. That's just complete bs.
Spend more time on QA. Your games are getting more buggy. Stop rushing your release dates. If you can't keep up with EA's release schedule, don't.

ok this is what needs to be fixed in 2k7
-No more weak goals, skate it up, pick a corner and score, forget that, no one names mowers or someone like dan cleary could beat 2 guys and shoot from top of the circle and score top corner, that needs to be fixed
-the inhanced goalie feature, you should be allowed a min of a certain amount of times you can use that trick, some ppl just use it all game, its not only annoying but it ruins the game compeletely, its not fun and its just stupid
-make a update more often then once every month... id love to play joe thornton in SJ right now, for the most part i gotta wait about few weeks or another week or 2, its kinda boring.. im the type of hockey fanatic that knows all about hockey, thus i do not wanna be playing a team like boston who doesnt have good defense, no tanabe, stuart, but only has joe thornton and scatchard... come on now...
-i wanna be able to save my rosters online, im sick and tired of fixing my rosters all the time online, i wanna keep the same roster lineup, i wanna be able to dress guys, i wanna play a rookie like kosi****yn on montreal or something else of a guy like dagenais...
-i want the updated players to be a little better then they are. franzen for detroit ranked 69th or what not, come on now. The guy is better then guys like cleary or what not, since im a detroit fan, atleast make the ranking a little more realistic, get some real life NHL fans in there to do the work or something. Crosby and Ovechking are 100 times better then they are in this game. Ovechkin has more speed, burns everyone in real life, can go 1 on 1 with almost any dman, **** he almost burned lidstrom when detroit played him from what i saw in 2 periods... phaneuf isnt even a hard hitting dman in the game, he hits good but not explosive... its just stupid because snipers are better at passing then shooting, while shooters like jason williams might get 4 goals and no assists, but in real life, 4 assists and no goals in games... they need better assessment..
-better goaltending...
-online leagues are a joke on here, ive been in 10 leagues now, waited 3 wks with a full league and yet not 1 league started the season, its a joke and its annoying, tehy need better gameplay
-franchise feature, create a team, make a arena, pick a city, earn money based on attendance, make it more realistic, like such as earning points for coaching signings or money i mean, do better training drills for practices... nba 2k4 or i think it was, at the draft had player comparisons.. i wanna be able to draft a guy and know what he might be looking like down the road... also, everyone drafted shouldnt be 6'5 250 lbs and fast as **** when 80+ 0verall... nhl 2k7 staff needs to sit down a little longer and do these better assessments.

#1- Fix all the bugs. For two years now, any international game that you play, the periods end at 18:59. Fix the AI for human team CP controlled defenders. I am sick of them scoring from one timers in the slot cause my d-man is watching the play and not actually covering his man. The computer teams Defensive AI is good.. why not mine.
#2- Find a way to get the Hartford Whalers jerseys back into the game. I guess its probably a licensing issue, but fix it, I have been waiting for the Whalers jerseys, well, forever.
#3- Find another way to increase the difficulty of the game without the use of hooking and holding. Nothing I hate more than when you go to pass it to a guy on your team and he is laying on his ***** before your finished pressing the button. Way WAY WAY!! too much interference. Think of a new way to make the game hard besides INTERFERANCE!
#4- I actually agree with the banner raising idea. I am not one to nit pick over tiny **** like player faces. I mean, I play the game for the gameplay, not to look at the players faces, but having a reward for actually being the champ would be kinda cool. Its supposed to be the pinnalce acheivement in hockey, make it feel like it.
#5- I think improved graphics for next years game are a given but I dont want them improved to the point where 2k gets carried away making the game look pretty and forgets to make it play better. Nice graphics are great and all, but not at the expense of gameplay. Make sure the game is still very solid before you go and use up presious disc space for pretty graphics.
#6- Perhaps steal the idea from Sony in the MLB series and make a career option for a single player. You have to make a team, and then you just play the games. You are not the manager, you just play the games. You dont make the lines, you dont choose when you step on the ice, you just play hard and try and score goals or save them (whatever you choose as your position) and try to make it to the hall of fame. You can hire your own agent, try and get deals with companies.. whatever.. but you control YOU.
#7- Try and get an IIHF licence for the real international players and maybe a hall of fame linsence so you can use the players that have entered the hall. Whatever it is you need to be able to use as many real player names as possible. Eastside hockey manager has real players from all over the world. I am not saying we need sweden teams or anything, but it would be nice to be able to play the international competitions with the real players. Its not all about the NHL.
#8- Get rid of the stupid circus rinks and medevil rinks and all those stupid ideas and maybe bring back some classic rinks instead. Dont just have one classic (generic) rink. Recreate the Boston Garden, Maple Leaf Gardens, The Aud in Buffalo, Chicago Stadium, The Spectrum, The Forum in Montreal. How cool would it be to play as the classic leafs against the classic canadians in a home and home series in the forum and the gardens. You could put that ever so present "haze" in the air that was always there.. Now that would be sweet. Kinda like EA does in its MVP games, but maybe not so extreme.
#9- Dont make it so hard for us classic team roster editors to figure out who is who. If you cant manage to license the players, atleast make it so Wayne Gretzky is Wally Grimsby or something, and I am sure it wont be against some law if you gave them the proper numbers and heights and weights. Wally Grimsby, #99 .. that would make it easy.. although Gretz isnt the hardest guy to figure out. I dont see why you cant do this, its been done it games for years and years.
#9(2)- I dont know how well this is going to be received, but I dont imagine too many 60 year olds play this game. So instead of having the 50 whatever wings.. and habs and whatnot... keep the classic teams a little more closer to our time frame. I know I am not the oldest guy playing this game, but at 30 I dont think I am too far off from it and I started watching hockey in the early 80s. Now I have followed the game and read the stories and know who some of the greats are, but I really never saw them play or watched them on TV, so I dont really care to play as them. So anything pre 1970 is likely wasted on a younger audiance who probably struggle to remember the Islander and Oiler dynasties of the 80s. The Alltime decade teams were a nice idea except, I haevnt got a clue who they are supposed to be. You can guess, and search the hockey database for good players with similar attributes, but it was too hard to figure out the older ones, the 90s wasnt so bad, but the rest were tough.
#10- Take a line from EA, if its in the game, put it in the game. It was mentioned earlier about 5 minute majors for something other than fighting, game misconducts, double minors, heck, if a team makes a poorly timed line change you can have too many men penalties. Increase the crowd volume for important games, Have an occasional brawl that isnt human controlled, I think it would be a blast to sit and watch a fight happen rather than doing all the fighting all the time, besides, if your just watching it, they can make it look sweet rather than the sloppy look to the fighting now. Give the option of trying to start a fight rather than a fight being possible and you just hit your button to start it. Have rivalries where two particular teams may play a much more aggressive game against each other. Give the game some atmosphere. High sticking is a fairly common penalty but its not in the game. I know they would rather not see it there, and maybe told you to leave it out, but tell them we want a real game of hockey, with everhthing that is hockey. Dont hold back, if you need to, give us the kitchen sink.

1. Having better graphics for faces would be very nice. I mean I dont expect every player in the game to look like they do in real life but having more than just say the 2-3 main franchise players would be nice. I suggest making sure any player with a rating of 75 or higher have his own face and then for the rest just make sure that the generic face used is reasonably close to his file photo. I dont think that is asking too much.
2. Every single starting goaltender and goaltender with a rating over 75 should have his actual mask design. Again im sure thats not asking too much. But yes one might ask "what if he is traded in the game?" well THEN its ok to just stick him with a generic team logo mask. But even then I think for generic masks and in create a player/goalie there should be several different customizing options for your goalie's mask. Kind of like the board/tag/shirt design feature in the past few Tony hawk games where you can customize colours and have several layers of logos.
3. The crease control really only needs to be available during shootouts or penalty shots and I think it should be limited to exactly that.
4. More realistic stats when it comes to 10-20 min periods. When I play 20 min periods the scores are just retarded. I think stats should change when longer periods ar selected.
5. THE GOALIE A.I.. plain and simple, the goalies in video game hockey are always just plain dumb and useless. I think that instead of putting all this time/effort and money into dumb **** like crease control maybe they wouldnt have to make a manual goaltending feature if they just made the goalies less retarded.
6. PAY ATTENTION TO THE RULES OF THE SPORT WHEN MAKING THE GAME.. the xbox 360 version has no 5min major penalties after a fight which is just plain ignorant and really just makes me wonder who the **** is making these games, I looked everywhere and couldnt find a way to turn it off or on so Ill assume someone just somehow forgot about it. And also never in any video game have I ever seen a double minor. When a spearing penalty is called the penalty should be a double minor straight up. There should also be some way of having a double minor called for a hit from behind.
7. I realize that 2K sports an EA cant legally include players who are not on the players association but honestly the classic teams feature is useless without having the names. Maybe they should somehow figure that out and offer the old players or their families (if theyve passed away) some slight compensation or something. Otherwise I say cut out the classic teams feature altogether cause its the names that make it cool.
8. As many others have said, the current gaming engines are growing tired. I dont mnd paying $80 for a game if I know theres been time and hard work put into it. The hockey games have become cheap because every year the games look almost the same but with roster changes. A new and exciting engine is needed.
9. In MVP baseball you can play your minor league games and handle your minor league rosters. I think that 2K or EA should start including that feature. That way you can know which players to call up and when or why not just "hey look I have a guy on the DL better call up random guy to fill the slot for a week".
and lastly 10. MORE REALISM!! More tension in the crowd and on the ice during playoffs and finals, a higher level of play would be nice. It would also be nice to be able to see the coaches yelling after a penalty now and again. And could we finally get the ability to start **** after the whistle, to be able to bump and scuffle or to have little tussles start after the whistle involving more than 2 players?
Thats my thought.

2k6 is a great game and all, but I just didn't think it is "next-gen" How about the puck actually touching the blade of the stick. Or maybe a few more goalie animations. Whenever I shoot it high, the only animation the goalie ever does is when it looks like he is going to save it with his chest. I always score in the top corners. I know Turco was the cover boy, but there needs to be some more goalie animations. I know we would probably NEVER see this, and if it did, it would look cheesy. But imagine if they had the sticks flex. But, I would like to see this too. EA has somewhat done this. But, I would like to see some sticks break. Heck, Jagr seems to break his stick every game. In crucial parts of the game.(shootout) In NHL 06, if someone got hit hard they would drop their stick. I liked that. Also, if/when there is a high stick, the referee would check for blood. I don't know about you guys, but I have had some pretty high scoring games. Just recently I won 10-9. How abou t cutting down the scoring.
BTW, for any of you, does the game kind of freeze for like a second right when you are about to score? I'm pretty happy I rented this game. I could have just played 2k6 for my PS2. However, just a little tweak in the graphics. (little, hahaha)
I posted this in another topic. But, it looks like more people will see it here.

It freezes for a quick sec before you score only when theres an achievement accomplished on the system. Like not just a game goal but an achievement in the system. Thats the only time ive found that it does that.

how bout the player's uniforms are GLUED to their bodies. take a look at nba 2k6....it's not an unreasonable thing to ask for at this point. granted, hockey jerseys may not 'flow' as much as bball jerseys, they don't stick to the players skin the way they do in the game. they have different texture than their helmets.
hair is ridiculous. this goes for nba too. seriously. this is not nintendo. short hair even looks weird....long hair doesn't wave or flow. doesn't even look like hair.
nets are stiff. i know they don't give much in real life but netting is never THAT tight. also - the puck shouldn't always just stay inside the net after a goal. occasionally it rebounds back out, if not usually.
pre-cut scene player celebrations......horrible. absolutely horrible. just watch some hockey games and see what you're doing wrong. they don't come to a stop and start pumping their arms after they score a goal. and the opponent doesn't just aimlessly skate around in circles, looking like they're still playing with both hands on the stick and their head down. things like this murder the realism of the game. where's the personality? the glory? i see motion, not Emotion.
faceoffs are unrealistic. not varied enough. too clean and consistent.
post-game shows with @nalysis and highlights would be amazing. pre-game shows would be earth-shattering. make it more like a tv broadcast.
problem with 2k series since the beginning - PLAYERS ARE TOO BENT DOWN DURING PLAY. POSTURE NEEDS TO BE TWEAKED. THEY DON'T SCRUNCH INTO A RIGHT ANGLE PEOPLE, THEY JUST BEND THEIR KNEES A LITTLE.
otherwise - great game. keep up the good work.

like u said about the realism i think there goal celebrations are very mediocre. but for faceoffs i dont know how they could make those really any better. they are clean but i think it would be 2 hard to make them "battle" fot the puck. They need to make player AI smarter....i make a pass and the player isnt paying attention and lets it go by. and when doing one timers....dont use backhand when forehand is available. ENOUGH of the interference..wheres the calls. fix the pausing bug..let me pause the game when i want and as long as play hasnt started i should be able to call a timeout. more realistic hitting...no more plowing over people like cardboard cutouts.....save online rosters and lines.....and for gods sake have anyone of you seen crosby and ovechkin's faces on the updated rosters. first of all no visors and they look NOTHING AT ALL like the real ppl. crosby has a beard, fat cheeks, and large eyes that are bulging and ovechkin just resembles no one in paticular.....thats all for me

Oh yeah, also more variety to the commentary. I want to hear something different every time my team takes the ice..maybe talk about the last game they played or about the last time they played the team they are facing and what happened in that game.
Also, what about rivalries? My team is the Calgary Flames and our rivals are the Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks.
