So, I've had NHL 2K6 since the 22nd, with no problems up until today. Today, when I play at all, my game freezes in the first period. I've gone and deleted every save/profile for NHL 2K6, and started over again, and still I get the freezing in the first period. None of my other games are having any problems at all. Any ideas?

i've heard of this being a problem for people without the hard drive on several games.

Well.. its too bad the 360 is taking flak because of what likely is just a bug. Honestly it just seems like NHL2K6 360 was a bit rushed and a few Q&A things might have gone over looked.

Have you added another XBOX gamer profile lately? I noticed NHL does not like it when you have more than one XBOX gamer profile on the HDD so I bought a memory card and put all my extra ones on it while leaving only mine (the primary one) on the HDD. I have no problems after that.

I suppose the only other cause might be if this is a season game. Save files might rarely get corrupted every now and then with the only fix being to maybe start the franchise and save it as a new file then loading it or just simply starting it over. The only way you would know that though is if you played a regular quick match, does it freeze up in 2nd period too. If no then it is probably a corrupt season save. Nothing to do with the 360's HDD just something that happens once in a blue moon maybe.

This is not the case on 2 levels.

1st: I have never had more than one profile on my HD.

2nd: It freezes after ANY game, even DEMO games!

yeah, after returning from any offline game to the menu mine will freeze now. it worked fine for a month. i deleted all my nhl2k6 files and it still freezes. now, i've had three online games in a row freeze during the first period.

i'm extremely impressed. :)

I just locked up 2 times on live ranked games. Just shot my rank down the ****per. Why all of a sudden does this start happening?

Well, what a coincidence... mine has worked perfectly since the 22nd, now it too is freezing up after EVERY game. If I try to quit an offline game... it freezes. If I try to rematch... it freezes. If I just try to exit after a game... it freezes. So all the challenges I've unlocked today (about 15 in one game) didn't save either.

It also froze up last night when I was playing online with my friend. My system was completely locked up, but he was able to exit out to the main menu.

I'm freakin' ****ed off right now, especially since I know 2K Games won't do anything about it. Thanks for charging me $60 for almost the exact same game I bought on Xbox V1 for $20. So basically I've spent $80 on a game that is defective.

Wonderful.

Well, the only RELIABLE way that seems to fix this is by purchasing a memory unit and putting your gamerprofile on it along with the NHL files. Then disconnect the HHD each time you want to play. It is a pain the freggin *** yes, but it seems to be the only way I can get it to work.

I dont want to hear that it is a problem with my HDD either, I own eight 360 games and all the other ones work fine.

Here is my BUMP!!!

Im having this problem too.
No matter what game mode I play. Or if I let it run into demo mode, there is no way of getting back to the game menu as you get that stupid Loading.... screen.

I'm not going to disconnect my HDD every time I wanna play. I shouldn't have to do that!

What next the Hokey Pokey?

I've sent an e-mail to their tech support. I have yet to hear back from them.
I wonder if we should put a petition out to get everyone who has this problem to sign it and sent it to the developers.

I was told bu Microsoft to get a memory card and get my game save saved on the memory card then reformat the hard drive. Retreive my gamertag and then transfer my game save back to the hard drive. :(

PS> they didnt tell me how to reformat, had to figure it out myself. For anyone looking to do so, here is how to do it...

To reformat your XBOX 360 Hard Drive, go to the system tab on your XBOX 360 dashboard, Select Memory, then select the hard drive (high light it) and then press the Y (yellow button) for Device Options.
Once there, you will have the option to Rename or Format the drive.

Hope this helps someone who is willing to loose everything on their 360, im not. Im still wating for a patch.

Ehh... if you are going to buy a memory card then you DONT HAVE TO FORMAT THE HDD!!!! Just put NHL2K6 and your 360 gamer profile on the memory card and play it from the card with the HDD disconnected. I dont want to disconnect my HDD each time I play the game but I surely dont want to format my HDD where there is nothing wrong with it. You gotta do what you gotta do I guess to play something you spent money for and cannot return.

I think that when they hastily tested NHL2k6 they did it on 360's without HDD's or being that the system is new they did it on systems that had nothing on the HDD (like the amount of **** I have on mine now). It seems that the game just has a problem sorting through the files and 360 gamer profiles to find the right location to save. Hopefully Cush games will fix this in NHL2k7... but they are definately alienating what little hockey fan base their is by not patching it through live.

Everything was working fine for me up until saturday. Now after games, and even scrimmages and free skates in franchise, when i hit exit it freezes at the 2ksports loading screen. I shouldnt have to be buying a memory card just so that i can unplug my hdd.

I absolutely agree, but if you ask 2K tech support about it they just play stupid and send you this lame form email that they must know is nonsense.
