What do you guys wish would be in the new 2k6 game? Post all your idea's here, hopefully someone will see it.
Here is a link from IGN with some good idea's.
http://boards.ign.com/espn_major_league_baseball/b6581/102646741/p1/?5
Here are most of mine:
Real outfield/infield collisions - CHECK
Catch moves to block balls in dirt - CHECK
Replays during game - CHECK
I want minor league baseball, and drafting.
Fielders dropping tags
Contreversal plays that can be argued.
Manager ejections
players getting suspended for "illegal substance" (no joke)
Plays of the week, or Highlights, like NFL 2k5 had, except no ESPN.
Some sort of USEABLE skybox, not like last years that i never went into.
Create a Stadium
Relocate teams
Take screenshots
save during the game
press conferences and private events to boost visability and popularity for the team
optional batting practice before games to slightly boost attributes before a game
charging the mound
recruiting players from different countries (ie. ***an)
AND MOST OF ALLL:
Spring Training (much like in MVP last year, but with more Fundamental things and stat improvements) I have been dying to have this in games. I almost bought MVP last year solely for the ST. I do not want to just be able to play the games and stuff, I want to do fundamental training, sprints, batting practice, and on-field practice)
Thats all i can think of.
I will keep adding to the list, so please keep referring back to this to see if i added anything else.
What are some of yours?

Id like the ability to create an expansion team
Also Like in one of the ASB games(i forget which one or maybe it was all of them) where you play a sandlot type game where you pick players legend and current and play in like a cornfield or high school baseball field

YOU DA MAN!!! We needed a thread like this. But if no one of those developers are reading this, it's no use.
Anyway here are some good ideas on graphics
More realistic mo-caps (bring in the actual players!)
More facial expressions (2K3 was better than 2k4)
Better skin tones (2k5 skin tones were too pale)
Better faces (some are good; some made me puke)
Try putting sweats
Put high-res fingernails (MVP had it)
Gloves with actual brands! (Wilson, Rawlings)
More player cutscenes (Just like the actual broadcast, while you are playing, show some cutscenes of players on benches, pitcher's thinking, outfielders waiting, crowds cheering)
During Franchise mode, if a bearded player comes to Yankees, try removing his beard
Try differentiate swing animations: Homerun swing, line drive swing, grounder swing, and awkwards

I would like to see 2KSports use STATS INC. in reference to the games statiscal engine. 3DO used them for the High Heat Series & the stats engine was gr-8.

While it won't be in this year's game, I'd love the off-season to progress similar to the real one.
You can choose to offer Arbitration to players leaving. If they sign somewhere else after you've offered it, you get extra draft picks. If they accept it, you're stuck with them for another year. Also, the mL/ML 6 years and Arbitration Eligible things. When you're trying to build a young, cheap team, this plays a huge role.

I could care less about any new modes anything like that. Just fix all the glitches and ALL NEW animations. But even if they did see this, they wouldnt listen, they haven't for the past three years, why start now?

I think that the catcher needs to have more of an impact on the game. He could help to call a game by giving signs to the pitcher which could show up by being highlighted in the pitch selection screen. Or, he could improve the pitcher's pitches for the given game. As it stands, I'd rather have an all-offense/no-defense/bad game-calling catcher on my roster.

On catcher's rating, put 'pitcher managing'. If the catcher is smart enough to mange the pitcher good, the pitcher's record will get better

Take a look at past games and take the good things from it. I just finished a game of ASB2005 with generated variable pitch on. I must say that makes it really feel like baseball, my pitcher had 72 pitches by the 4th because I couldnt field the ball.
So if you look at ASB2005 take Generated Pitch Counts , Random Generated Pitch Counts and Expansion mode. I think those would be good additions to MLB2k.

I think its a good game. Graphics are good, stadiums are excellent (working scoreboards for current games and around the league scores), animations are excellent, I think Thom Brennaman and Steve Lyons do a great job of announcing. It has Expansion mode where u make a expansion team and put them in with all the other MLB teams. The fact that u can pick what positions u play and what positions cpu plays, for instance, you could play P, LF and SS and CPU or Player 2,3,4 does the rest and you can bat for everyone or just a few or none. Lots of stats and a lot of little things like working scoreboards, the K signs being put up in the outfield, generated and random pitch counts, etc. It has its bugs - sometimes the ball will curve towards the outfielder or does a vacuum effect every once in awhile. Overall for $12 I think its a good deal.

Stuff like this could be done so easily on the pc. If MLB2k is gonna be the only game in town they should really consider a pc game.

Who are the commentators now? I'm kinda sick of hearing Jon Miller's voice now. My favorite commentators are:
Michael Kay
John Sterling
That White Sox commentator who says "You can put it on the booooaarddddd----YES!!"
Thom Brennamen
Jerry Remy (To be honest...)
Ted Robinson (Hey, we can get him back)

I know I'm automaticly inclined to cheer for the Rangers, but Josh Nevin (sic?) and Tom Grieve flow very well together. Not many sayings, but Tom's knowledge of baseball, and Josh's style of Play by Play really help watching the game.
Of course, If I really had a choice, it would be Dan Stevens and Peter O'Keefe. Sure they don't play baseball, but they could do just as well with it as they did football. I also think they should have a Baseball Tonight esq show, but with a different name and style, something like "2kSN MLB Today." Put in another voice actor to be the host, and maybe a few former baseball players to round it out. Have them read the scripts with emotion and put it in the game.

Is 2k going to add an option allowing you to turn off the strike zone box?
itssharif
December 17th, 2005, 01:58 PM
I'm a realism kind of guy. I like the previous suggestion of turning off the strike zone. I want players to argue border line calls that they chose not to swing at. I want emotion in these games. Though I like the competitive play in the post season I want the crowd to make me feel it's the post season. I want wave towels, I want more emotion. On the flip side I want to see a home run hit in Florida with not even one fan catching it because they're not there. GM mode is a nice idea but no one plays 10 seasons straight in baseball to see if they can land with some other team. Incoorperate the owners more. Allow us to offer or not offer arbitration. Give us a deeper minor league system and ability to play the games. Allow us to do September call ups. Make the free-agency a negotiation rather than a simple aspect about money (there's more to it now with position to play, health, etc.). Have the announcers talk about the importance of the series because of the tight wild card race. Have the announcers talk about more than the current game their announcing (league leaders, what's going on in baseball). And for God's sake 2K Sports, please stop worrying about stealing EA Sports ideas. They screwed you guys over in the football franchise. Take a shot at them with this game please. Take their good ideas, leave out their bad. There's nothing wrong with it especially now that there is no EA for Major League Baseball. It might be better cuz the fans that'll be coming over now will not feel as threatened by seeing something so completely new to them. Good luck and I cant wait for the game.

They have to fix the outfield glitches. That is the most important thing because it affects the outcome of the game. Also fix the baattingstances and add fantasy drafts to the online leagues other than that it should be great for the 360

I desparately want to play online, with a team I have assembled under the constrictions of a salary cap. I'd also like to play ranked games online without the power zone. Have the starting pitcher not recover as quickly when playing your own team, so you can't just throw your ace all the time. You should at least have to use a 3 man rotation, but 4 would be preferable. I love the pitcher/batter interface. I think it is perfect now, so I hope that doesn't get messed up.

Also something like Sports Center showing top plays and talking about the recent transactions.

This sounds cruel but whatever.
My brother and I always turn up injuries to add more excitement.
I would love to have an injury mode where players are super sensitive.
Also MVP's argue with umpire was way cool.
Also additional modes:
Ice field (players slip all the time)
Rubber field (super bouncy)
obstacle field (Just like in MVP hitting challenge but playable)
fan injuries would be awesome too (although unimportant)

Realism in stadium crowds. Example: The Oakland Coliseum NEVER seats a full crowd in Mt Davis (The Oakland Raider seats), so I don't understand why every baseball game insists on making it a packed house for all the games there.
But more importantly, the A's now will not allow acces to the third deck of the ENTIRE stadium, making the Coliseum the lowest seating capacity in the majors. Being the official game of MLB, you have to get this in there. The Visual Concepts team always makes amazingly realistic atmospheres, but this would be the best if they could get this into the game.
I'll be seriously disappointed if this isn't included on the 360 version.

I would like to see more involvement with umpires, such as managers arguing and not always calling a pitch on the corner a strike. I've also been waiting for being able to throw some punches if you charge the mound, but they'd probably have to change the rating of the game to Teen.
I like the ability to rob home runs but last year it happened way too often, as did passed balls.
I also would like to see what everyone else has said: a franchise mode with minor leagues and a good progression system for players...

Absolutely. I live in KC - my Royals will suck again. And what do Marlin fans have to look forward to this year. Let us pick our own team, and play it online. Make the teams be fair by imposing a salary cap.

All I am saying is that they better return the in-game save feature to this game. I don't always have a full hour to kill trying to finish a game. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SAVE THE GAME MIDWAY THROUGH!!! They used to have this in one of the earlier version and then they inexplicably dropped it ... Colossal blunder in my opinion.
I also want co-op play where you and a friend can team up against the computer AI. They used to have this in ASB and it was immensely popular ....
rockiesfan06
December 28th, 2005, 10:33 PM
How about giving the CPU players an arm? I'm tired of being able to go first to third on a single to right field with Yorvit Torrealba. Guess what? The guy has 28 speed. The right fielder gets the ball, I'm just rounding second, and the guy always just lobs a throw in that takes FOREVER to get to third base. It's not realistic at all. I find myself just purposely stopping at 2nd even though I know I can get to 3rd just because I want to keep it realistic.
rockiesfan06
December 28th, 2005, 10:37 PM
One other thing...the pitcher's fielding range is absolutely ridiculous. It is very hard to get a line drive up the middle anymore. How many times have I hit a ball 3 feet to the left of the mound dirt (about 8 feet away from the rubber) only to see the pitcher zoom off the mound and make the catch? That is so unrealistic it isn't even funny.
The other unrealistic thing is how far players can dive. Look, I love making the great catches. But it's becoming way too easy to make them! The dive range, especially on the infield, is huge. Against the computer, I can't get a hard grounder through the infield for a clean base hit without turning down the AI Fielder Speed to less than 40. But once I do that, the AI outfielders run so **** slow that every single gapper or liner down the line turns into an easy stand up triple.
Does anyone else agree with me?

alot of good ideas, but on the original post some of your ideas are in the game already, the arguing, and im ASSUMING that if you can argue if you argue too much it could possibly lead to ejections, but the funny thing is I wrote 2k sports an email and asked them to put that in the next version, AND THEY DID. I love them.
heres my list.
1. diving into the crowds to catch balls around the infield
2. better crowd graphics. (why do the majority of sports games have abunch of construction paper cutouts for fans?)
3. a possible new mode resembling the NFL Superstar mode of Madden 06' where I can follow MY individual player after a draft and do some nice things off the field.
4. a college game to go with it so you can play through college and then go to the pros like in college hoops/nba 2k6
5. and yes id like to add on to the charging the mound, but perhaps just any fighting would be good, after all it really happens in baseball, so I feel i should be aloud to do it in the game.

more baserunning/fielding animations, more interactions between players, more commentating,
i just thought of an idea for fantasy drafts, i like to do them after i play with the normal rosters and i thought that though this would take a long time, before you actually start drafting players have an option u can click on and off where you NEGOTIATE the contracts with the players, so you dont end up paying 14 million because they are on the red sox or yankees, but have a bar like in nba2k trades where it shows their interest, this would be cool and probably wouldnt take too much time to incorporate,
most important is spring training, and the in game details with ejections, new new new animations, crashing/diving over fences, and perhaps visual injuries

I would love to see records be annouced and broken.
I think if a player is in the midst of a 20 game hitting streak, that the announcer would state that and it would come up on the screen where the current game stats are i.e.
David Ortiz 2-3 RBI
AVG .310 HR 20 RBI 85
20 game hit streak.
Also when Jon Dowd or whatever the heck he will be called in MLB2K6 hits his 716th and 745th homer that the crowd will go insane and Barry or Jon will come out for a curtain call with flashes all over the stadium and recognition of this feat on the digitron.
I know these things are alot to ask for, but actually they are not all that hard to include. NFL2K did it with highlights and Bermanisms!
I would also like to see where the ball ends up after its smashed into the upper deck, either a nice instant replay of a fan catching it or anything other than it dissappering into the cartoon crowd.
Foul balls are also highly underrated, more foul balls would be great for the game.
I also think that players should not miss a high fastball everytime, even though it is out of the strikezone I find it hard to believe that Vlad wouldn't make some kind of contact. High fastball swing and misses are out of here.
Who cares about umpire persuading? Umpires are going to say and call whatever they want, after playing a couple years in the minors, I have seen it all. Umpires are set in their ways and thats the bottom line. I dont think MLBPA is going to institute the challenge. I don't see Bobby Cox tossing out the red flag on a foul ball after it was called a homerun!
I think all of you make outstanding points and since this is a want/request thread nobody is wrong. I also think that this game should focus on realism and graphics. After reading the interview with the Ching Chang Chong guy I am certain this will be a much better game than that of the last one, he pin-points that the players are more real and have real tendencies and move like real players instead of boxy movements and girly throwing mechanics.

Hi ksig,
Your ideas would add so much to any baseball game!
989 MLB 2006 announced the number of almost every Home-Run hit during the season, plus they would announce when you were getting close to the Home-Run record, then announce when you tide and broke that record.
I would only add that if you brake the record with 80 Home-Runs for the season then that would carry over to the next season, and the announcers would announce that you broke the new record after 80 Home-Runs was hit.
This would add to the suspense and drama of our national pastime!
I hope 2K offers these ideas in their next ball-game.

I'd want the ability to create an expansion team.
But I really liked what MVP (Triple Play) did back in 2002 (or was it 2003?). I really liked the ability to chop up the league and reduce the schedule. I loved removing the expansion teams and cutting the schedule down to 120 games. Making the old two division system.
I'd really like the ability to create my own league. I have two seasons going in Madden right now - one with the Washington Redskins and another with 32 made up teams from one area of the country (kinda like my own amatuer league). I have to say that I had a great deal of fun making up teams and uniforms. Back on Cape Cod where I grew up, we had an 11-on-11 ful contact flag football league, and here in upstate New York, we have the Empire Football League. It's fun to create some of the players from my playing days and put them on there own teams and see what I can do with it. Ineveitably, I was hoping for some other niceties, but I realized that I was probably in the minority and that EA wasn't working towards what I wanted.
I am hoping to see this mode in 2K baseball, if not, maybe a competitior will try something like it....

Anyone got any more idea's? Its a new year, anyone got any NEW ideas? I have one that i was toying with.
Having Winter Meetings in the off-season where when you are the GM, you see yourself walk into a board room, and you can start talking it up with other GM's and have an influence meter where you can influence other GM's that a certain trade would benefit both teams, and then you can make personal phone calls to GM's and try to work out a deal during the winter meetings. I guess it would be a The Sims esque type thing. I think it would be pretty cool to experience that.

real stats for the players for at least the last season but his carrer would be ossom
real minor league teams that is why i almost bought mvp because of this and u could play with the minor leaguers on there own team
spring training a way to improve stats
change stadiums if u dont do good in one town decide to move like in madden
dive into stands for balls
people diving into the wall people going for balls hitting another player like 2 outfielders going for it and they bonk heads injurys of this and wall hits
getting hit by balls and have blood and stuff
charging the mound for the love of good please include this i almost bough mvp for this reason
argue calls again almost bought mvp u should be able to argue calls and by the managers pristeage get more calls to go ur way.
real managers from the real teams
steroids be able to take them warning this could be very fun and bad at the same time but it does happen
throw in a event like world baseball classic
superstar mode like madden
oh yeah player endorsements fake companys or real for a player to do commercials and wear hats and stuff for.
please 2k please i beg of u include all this stuff and it will be my number one all time favorite baseball game if not favorite game ever.

I'm not being a jerk or anything, I'm just wondering what full contact-flag football is?

i would like to see real stats not all juiced up stats .
real stats for the players for at least the last season but his carrer would be ossom
real minor league teams that is why i almost bought mvp because of this and u could play with the minor leaguers on there own team
spring training a way to improve stats
change stadiums if u dont do good in one town decide to move like in madden
dive into stands for balls
people diving into the wall people going for balls hitting another player like 2 outfielders going for it and they bonk heads injurys of this and wall hits
getting hit by balls and have blood and stuff
charging the mound for the love of good please include this i almost bough mvp for this reason
argue calls again almost bought mvp u should be able to argue calls and by the managers pristeage get more calls to go ur way.
real managers from the real teams
steroids be able to take them warning this could be very fun and bad at the same time but it does happen
throw in a event like world baseball classic
superstar mode like madden
oh yeah player endorsements fake companys or real for a player to do commercials and wear hats and stuff for.
please 2k please i beg of u include all this stuff and it will be my number one all time favorite baseball game if not favorite game ever.
Why does noone look at game features before they post or bother reading the whole thread? They already added arguing a call.
They do need most of the other stuff though, especially superstar mode, I would play for decades. AND not only have a superstar mode but have it where you can take your star and upload him to the next years game, from year to year, that way you keep the same guy and you never have to start over until he retires.

Great post Lets.Go.Tech
This is exactly what I've been trying to say! This is my post a few months ago,
revised a little:
2K please add a "Classic Era Franchise" you could offer different years like 1927, 1932,
1946,1955,1957,1961 and 1987. Or any other seasons from the past.
When we choose a season lets say 1957, the year the Milwaukee Braves won the World Series, the computer would adjust all the bells and whistles for the 1957 season including
the Uniforms, Stadiums, as many of the players as possible.
The players could be from different eras and could be added to the teams they played on.
Offer a great Create-A-Player mode so we can fill in the rest of the players.
Add 2 long lists of first and last names to be announced, or add a "Text To Speech Synthesizers" mode.
Only the teams of 1957 would be offered, like you said no expansion teams and 120 game season.
I try to achieve this with every Baseball game that comes out, some games lend themselves to this more than others.
I like your idea of adding our teammates we played with from the past.
Anyway there's at least two of us that want this!
Did I read something about a "Historic Franchise" or was it just a dream?

I'm not being a jerk or anything, I'm just wondering what full contact-flag football is?
Essentially, offensive and defensive linemen can still use brute force when rushing/protecting the QB and CB's can still bump within five yards. All contact when performing blocking manuevers is leagal, you just can't tackle the ball-carrier.
I used to return kicks for my team, and I was hit just as hard as if we were playing tackle, I just didn't have the luxury of wearing any pads...

"throw in a event like world baseball classic"
12345 good idea .
You know what would be cool if it had a option to play the WORLD BASEBALL CLASIC like the option to play spring training games get me? Were you could actually select player to play for there respective country like in Football = soccer represent your country what’s more exiting to actually see Clemens pitch against the power hitting Dominican team. Or see how well he does against the Cubans you get me I think that’s exciting. That would be a cool option for the game.
