Since there is no MVP 06 this year (besides NCAA) I was wondering if this game was any good last year. I didnt even play it once. And did u guys like it last year or were u too MVP diehards?

I played it last year and liked it. The gameplay is not as good as MVP's was last year, but the other stuff was much better. This year it sounds like they really worked on gameplay adding those flashback replays and player collisions. I am sure we will find out a of more stuff in the coming months. I am sure this would beat out what MVP would have put out anyway. MVP has their college game though, it also looks very cool.

I am not biased towards either MVP now 2k, MVP had alot of great features and 2k had alot of great things in there game. Last year I'd say 2k5 was really at its weakest point besides the amazing commentary and good graphics. The animations were horrendous, and there were alot of glitches dealing with the franchise mode. Overall I'd say MVP was a better game last year but 2k had some strong points. Realistic enviornment, excellent commentary like I said, lot of extras and overall good gameplay in relation to how easy it was to pick up and play this game. I think since it was Kush's first time around where they actually had the backing to work with, the focused on one area of the game and that was clearly the graphics and getting Jon Miller and Joe Morgan. Now that they got some experience I think this years game will be much better now that they have those resources to work with. I'm kind of dissapointed that MVP 06 won't come out this year for the pros because I wanted to see how they used the ESPN license with the pros. But from what it sounds like Kush is really making a strong effort to listen to the fans concerns and what we want done. They said there will be all new animations, new Swing Stick feature, added features in Baseburner mode. I'm not gonna say its worth picking up until I see the videos and they actually prove that there is actually all new animations and stuff like that. So wait till the videos come out then make your decision

EA has no plans to use the ESPN license in the way VC & Kush did. EA has stated that they want to integrate ESPN so that it can show live scores of real games as a ticker. You may be able to get ESPN news by way of their servers as well. I wouldn't expect them to use it as forcefully as VC or Kush.

As much as I hate to say it, I was an MVP man..was very upset when I learned 2k Bought the license. I was like well them 2k guys seems fairly upset they lost NFL so trade them NFL for MLB and we'll all get along well like we all once did, perhaps this is why I am not in business. Anyways it occured to me the other day. I have a 360, and MLB 2k6 is going to look FREAKING AMAZING so yeah just like the thread creator I am curios in this baseball series as I have never really tried it yet..

Wondering I guess what are some flaws and Aws of this series so far and what can I look forward to in mlb 2k6..

I wasnt impressed with last years and found myself liking this game so much more. MVP imo isnt as realistic plus this game has the celabrations and cut scenes and stuff 20 bucks and wicked cool online this was the clear winner for me.

I bought both games last year and enjoyed them both. If I could choose, EA would get baseball and 2k would get football, but I think all baseball games for the PS2 last year were great. I give a slight edge to MLB 2006, with MLB 2k5 not far behind, and MVP not far behind that.

I have both games. I only ended up playing about 9 games of MVP and about 120 offline of 2K and about 200 online. But that's just preference.

With 2K5, I really like the gameplay with good sliders. You get realistic results. The bad things were glitches that ruined the offline play if you like to play Franchise mode or GM Career mode. Animations are also bad, but they say they are fixing that with all new animations.

The_Diplomat....

Mentioned it over and over. Since EA lost MLB rights to make the game in 2006, Take Two should do the right thing and make a PC-CD version of the game.

how do you think we felt when ea snatched the football license !

I was so ****ed when EA stole football. I was also ****ed when EA lost baseball, and even more ****ed that 2K lost football than I was before.

I will not buy MLB 2K6 unless they add the minor leagues. That feature was way too cool to ever not put in a game again. All the fans of middle of the pack teams who rely on the farm system and cannot afford to spend 100 million dollars on a half assed pitcher really pay attention to AAA.

Thank God for the internet and people who continue to update rosters for MVP 2005, There may not be a need to buy 2k6.

I really want to buy the game, but without the minors it seems like fake baseball. Baseball is a game of nuances and strategy, having the option to demote or call up a player is so important. It would be like having an NBA game where you can only substitute for the 6th man and that's it.

Also, MVP added the minors last year, which means we had been playing without them forever. That is fine, and maybe it would have been better for MVP to never have introduced them to a game in the first place. But since they did, it seems almost unjust to not include them in games from now on. It's like having a girlfriend that lets you get far right away, and then she never allows that again. It really is, and that situation has happened to me. The relationship turned into misery and I feel that baseball games may be getting the same treatment.

SAVE THE MINOR LEAGUE OPTION

****, I'd pay 50 bucks for the minor leagues.

I agree, Minor Leagues was something that should of been included in baseball games a long time ago. It is almost stupid not to put it in this years game because like you said it is a crucial part of Major League Baseball. I will also be very ****ed if they do not include playable minor leagues in 2k6

You guys actually liked 2k's football games better than madden? What was better because I was a madden lover. I thought that the 2k games were really cheesy.

Most longtime Madden players can't stand 2K because it isn't Madden, but on the contrary, I always felt Madden was stale and boring. the thought process to play the game (never played 06) was meek. The 2K series has always done a good job at putting you into the game. Whether it's the graphics, presentation, animations, sound, it captures the essence of the game, unlike Tiburons Madden game. However, to each their own, but I'm assuming you never played 2K5, which is a mere 3 dollars now.

There are tons of people who like 2K over Madden. I can't believe people pay 50 dollars every year for a minor upgrade. Visual Concepts strived to achieve new things each year, not just simple gimmiks, but attempt to actually enhance the expierence. The game continued to evolve each year, which I felt Madden still has yet to try. Sorry man, but there are people who do get tired of playing the same game every year.

Well seems how you didnt play 06 theres your problem. I was also getting bored with a small upgrade every year until 06 came out. This game really is good and has many new features like th presision passing and QB vision. And yea I did play 2k5, but i prefer madden. And if you just loved 2k football games i will say that Madden 06 for the 360 is completly different than 06 on the xbox or ps2. It has a major 2k feel to it. Even the graphics look like a 2k game.(but better of course)

My buddy Jon and I used to play madden 04 every day in college. I was a madden guy all the way. Then 2k pricedropped and released early, i bought it to hold me over and within 2 weeks people were already talking about not buying madden 05, i was not amongst them. When i did get madden 05 i played it 3 times, and i don't even know where it is right now. 2k5 was a way better football game. If you still havn't played it you have to buy it. The presenation is amazing. I was hoping 2k could at least put out arena ball, but i see that EA has that too. Does anybody remember Mutant League Football??? I say 2K should use their engine and bring back the game where you could "blow up ref."

I know there will be mvp 06 college baseball, read my first post. And i actually think i might buy it. Maybe this game will be something different from everything else that i buy every year.

I was reading the other thread on the ideas for 2k6, and they were talking about the minor leagues being a must. What was the minor leagues like last year? Was there minor leages at all? If there is little to no minor leagues in 2k6 i will put it out of the question and not buy it at all. I mean what do you do if someone got hurt or something. You would want to bring someone up from the minors. I just think this is a must. I mean they have to know that MVP has done minor leagues for 2 years and people love it. Dont they?

Duke, you're not going to convince me that Madden 06 is this whole new game, because it is not. It's Madden 05 with Precision Passing. I've heard enough complaints about Madden 06 being a Madden 05 clone with this feature. I have no problem, because Madden 06 still lags behind 2K5. I'm still happy with 2K5. It's wierd, but after owning 2K5 for a year, I still see new animations, hear different commentary, and that alone keeps me from buying that overrated franchise. I've been around for a long time in the videogame world, and Madden still plays like a Genesis game with better graphics. Sorry, but I refuse.

I'll break it down for you this way.

MVP pros/cons and MLB2K5 pros/cons.

MVP Pros:
3 levels of fully playable minor leagues.
Much much better gameplay, especially batting
Owner mode
not super easy to create superstars from minor leaguers.
great game sounds/crowd excitement

MVP Cons:
Graphics were cartoonish, kind of.
Easy to build a team of superstars.
Easy to pitch...way too easy.
Hokey announcers
never any good free agents

MLB2K5 pros:
Great graphics and stadiums
great looking players.
really fun franchise mode/gm mode (espcially if you just sim)
great announcers

MLB 2K5 Cons:
too many strange camera angels
LOTS of bugs.
Awkward batting controls/cursor
some bad animations, such as throwing
too many diving catches/too easy to rob a homerun
you dont get to see where the homeruns land
bad bat sound.

both games were pretty good last year but mvp was better in my mind. i loved playing minor league ball and now that 2k has baseball i highly doubt they will put that in anytime soon. i still have mvp 2005 and play it if i get in the mood to play a baseball game but as for mlb 2k5 i traded it in a long time ago. 2k had some good things like presentation, it really seemed like you played a game on tv. the franchise was pretty decent and thats what i really liked. i think for this year i'll just get mvp and play some college ball and if i need to play pro ball then this game will be a game i rent instead of buy.
