If 2ksports has an exclusivety deal, that doesn't allow EA Sports to make a new game, how did EA Sports make available an updated roster for those who own MVP Baseball 2005, which included mostly every transaction that has gone down this off-season up until 2 weeks ago.

Yet 2K couldn't provide those NFL 2K5 owners with a Roster Update for this Football Season... FA please explain this to us... THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Didnt the rights agreement take over in 2006? Its still 2005 so EA is allowed to do that..

2k sports is lazy about updates, and they do not like to tell the customers what they are doing. It's a bad combination.

Sorry joe, I missed this post.

nfl
2KSports was prevented from releasing updated content for NFL... this combined with the timing of the contract end date & final rosters for the updated season didn't allow for an update that would have been even close to actual rosters.

To clarify regarding the MLB deal:
2K Sports has the 3rd party exclusive w/ the MLB/MLBPA... that means that the 1st parties (console makers: Sony, Microsoft, etc) can still put out MLB games, but nobody else but 2K Sports can. EA on the other hand has the complete exclusive with the NFL... EA & nobody else can put out an NFL game.

FA, thanks for the response. I understand the NFL piece. What's confusing is the MLB piece. EA is not a 1st party. It's a 3rd party. So how were they able to release an UPDATED ROSTER for MVP 2005 last week with the most updated transactions if 2k is the only 3rd party developer that can use the MLB/MLBPA...

Was there a deadline like the NFL deal, which EA was able to make, before 2k took over the MLB liscense...

I just saw this from the 2Kx fooball forum.... I just want to say how shocked I am the a VC/rep. would use the term NFL(albeit in small type)... and 2KSports in the same post.....

I don't know whether to cry or get an erec.tion.....!!!:D
