View Full Version : Graphics of MLB 2K6

Maybe I'm missing something here because it's my first time checking in in a long time, but why is it that the MLB 2K6 graphics look pretty normal for an Xbox game, almost like they are Xbox graphics, whereas the NBA 2K6 graphics look ridiculously good and definitely look like Xbox 360 graphics?
I was hoping for a mindblowingly realistic looking game for my new Xbox 360 (a la the graphics of NBA 2K6), but instead it looks like the graphics are plain old Xbox style.
Am I missing something here? Someone fill me in.

It's probably because the screens you've seen so far is for the xbox version, not the 360.

Ok. That probably explains it. But why are they releasing Xbox screens? Wouldn't they want to release Xbox 360 screens and show the game in its best form?

XBox & PS2 launched first for NBA 2K6 - perhaps the same will happen with MLB 2K6.

That's what Gamestop's site says.

So they're working on the Xbox and PS2 version first, so that's why they only have those screens available?
Also, how much later is the Xbox 360 version going to be? I hope I won't be waiting until July to play 2K6...I get baseball fever right about now, so the sooner, the better.

Yeah, I can't stand how the current gen stuff comes out like a month or two earlier. For example college hoops 2K6. I want to play the game but I'm not going to buy two versions of the game. Although I understand they need more time to work on the 360 version because it is a new piece of hardware that they are developing on.

Don't get me wrong here, but the XBOX 360 was not out when NBA2k6 came out on the XBOX. So really I would of expected them to have the games for both systems coming out at the same time by now. I really hope they make a good game for the 360 though, because you could get a ton of new fans by just having an incredible looking baseball game that plays good.

They haven't really announced a release date yet, so I wouldn't jump to any conclusions.

i can tell you right now that the 360 version will look only slightly better then the xbox/ps2 versions. it's most likely going to be a ported version just like the other sports games on the 360. i'd say that MLB2K7 will be the first true next gen game on the 360. don't hold me to it but i just don't see them making 2 different versions of their game.

not to mention the majority of their sales are going to be on the xbox/ps2 versions when the game is released until the 360 itself is available at wal mart on any given day of the week, not alot of people have them yet because game companies refuse to make enough consoles at release dates for some reason, and alot of other people like to wait awhile for the price to drop from 10 thousand.

ROCKIES are HORRIBLE their first few free agents are Shawn Estes and Pedro Astacio, i have no objection to you getting Astacio as a 4th pitcher but c'mon, your top priority!? The rockies are a proud franchise and they need to do more!

Ummm...thanks for the input, I guess. First off, the Rockies first free agents were not Shawn Estes and Pedro Astacio. Did we look at them as possible end of the rotation starters? Yes. But Estes demanded a two year deal (no way) and Astacio wanted 4 million (no way.) So we're probably going to sign Byung Hyun Kim for a reasonable 1.5 million dollars, which is a bargain considering the money that guys like Brett Tomko and Scott Elarton are getting.
The team doesn't look good right now, but expect them to return to their usual 70-75 win total this year. We're in the middle of a rebuilding process. Remember the Indians of the past couple years (before 2005)? That's what we're doing and we hope to be like the Indians are right now by about 2008.

What the ****? Did I miss something? When did this thread become a conversation about Rockies free agents?

I disagree with you. NBA2k6 was rushed for the 360 launched. They are given more time to the baseball game to tweak it. I'm pretty sure they have learned some new tricks in developing for the 360 already.

I know what you mean, SanFranPsycho. The guy kinda came out of left field with his Rockies bashing. But I had to set him straight. I couldn't let him continue through life so misinformed about the state of the franchise at 20th and Blake.

Playing NBA2K6 for the XBOX360 on a HDTV looks nothing like NBA2K6 on the XBOX. But, i do see where similarities lie...
However, that just shows you how poweful the original XBOX really was...just imagine what VC can do once they get a full grasp (read...next years game ;)) on what the 360 can do...gaming is going to be good my friends...very good.
