Ok, I got the xbox version and liked it just fine. Then I was lucky enough to get an xbox 360 for xmas and to no surprise NHL 2k6 was not one of the backlisted games I was able to play.
So I read about the new 360 version and decided to buy it. It was nice to hav the updated rules and rosters forsure but overall I dont really think too much of the 360 version at all.
There are some things about the game that may be glitches or problems. I am curious, is there anyone else having the same issues.
1. After a fight there are no 5min majors handed out which is really dumb.
2. The faces of the players look terrible, even the star players faces are horribly done.
3. All the players look squished and fat even when theyre supposed to be skinny
4. The commentator's (bob cole/harry neal) voices are really quiet for the first few minutes
5. The Semi-auto line changes are really hard to deal with, it gives me the option to change lines, I hit the directional pad and then nothing comes up and it doesnt allow me to change lines.
Explain to me why it is that the graphics look almost better and the faces look better on xbox than 360. Is it because they wasted too much time, game space and money on the completely useless crease control and pro deke features. Hrmm yeah instead of defending my end ill abandone defence and leave it up to a game of chance with a little red circle. Oh yah and while on a breakaway I have enough control and time to pull the thumbstick up. I mean yah I understand the need to evolve in games but how about better player faces, maybe adding most of the goalies actual masks, making powerplays more realistic, maybe spending a few bucks and actually being able to use some of the old time players actual names rather than just numbers, and so on and so on.
The crease control is just stupid and useful on breakaways and shootouts ONLY which isnt worth all the time/money and game space it takes up.
Pro control however rocks and makes offensive play a lot more fun and realistic. That was a good call.
And all this for $80.37 rather than the $30 for the xbox version which they conveniently have not backlisted yet.
I realize that the xbox version had its glitches too but the 360 version is NOT worth the money. They say they made the wrap around harder? not completely true, its harder for the player but the computer still pulls it off 1-2 times a game due to the fact that 2K sports managed to somehow make the goalies even more awful. I am playing on hall of famer and even with my goaltending turned up I still get pounded on when Im used to winning 3 out of 5 with ease. The computer gets one shot off and the goalie falls on his back and leaves an open net on every 2nd shot. This might just be the first year in a while that I even think about buying an EA sports hockey game.
