Auto Update did not work...

More often than not my online play is like a dream that didn't really happen! When I leave a game my earned (or lost money) and achievment chips are all gone and my bank roll has reverted to what it was before. I have seen a variety of messages when I leave online play but can't figure out the plattern on which one results in me keeping my money after leaving Xbox LIVE.

Please help...
