View Full Version : MVP vs. 2K6? Who cares?

Why do people take it so personal when some one criticizes this game or any 2k6 game? I understand this is a board on the 2ksports website, but most importantly it is a discussion board. This is a place to discuss the pro's and con's of this game and compare it to other baseball games.
Lets face it, we all have one thing in common and that is the fact that we all want the best baseball game.
This year is going to be dif't. There is no other MLB game. Because of this, I hope that the MVP vs 2k6 bickering comes to a hault.
I play both games as do thousands of other people. The competition was good for both companies as it pushed them to make the best possible product.
Why do you get offended when someone likes the other game better? Why do you take it personal? Did you contribute to the game? NO. Even the designers could only try to defend their product. There is no test to see if one game is better than another, it would be and is a never ending argument over nothing.
The whole EA vs 2ksports thing is ridiculous and childish. The fact that people take offense to other peoples opinions about a product they had no part in producing is plain stupid.
People play these games for dif't reasons and get dif't pleasure from doing so. Some people play online, some people try and recreate the current season. Others make a team of all-stars and dominate-who's to say what is wrong and what is right?
If you didn't have talk on these boards about the other games, they would be boring. There would be very little new idea's and very little constructive critism.
Competition is good in almost everything in this world-even baseball video games.

The nice thing, that there is still competition in the MLB market. While Microsoft and Nintendo have no planned titles, Sony still has a fine one. Also, this would have never happened if EA didn't buy out the NFL.
I think the reason people jump in and defend their opinions, is that many people who bring these topics up, offer no real critism. They'll jump in here and post "2K sucks" and offer no explaination to why they believe so. Anyway, just stay away from the topics. People will be childish, because they are childish, and sadly, this topic you created, will not help.

I'm not talking about the random " 2k sucks" comments. I'm talking about people who do raise good points about other titles and then are scoured for doing so. But, your going to have that anywhere. Too many people are way too sensitive.
You can't claim EA for buying the rights to the NFL. Any company would do it if they had the money and and the marketability that EA have. I agree that monopolies are bad for just about everything, but if your going to blame a company, you can only blame the weak. Just like you can't blame AJ burnett for getting paid way too much-you can really only blame the owner for spending the money. Its all economics and supply and demand. If people weren't willing to pay $50 bucks for a ticket, then the stadiums wouldn't sell them for $50.00 and and players wouldn't make what they do. But people are willing to pay extreme amounts of money and that money has to go somewhere.
I think 2k was a superior game to Madden, but not enough people played it to find out. EA had such a huge market-share of the football game industry-they had nothing to lose. A lot probably has to deal with the fact that Madden has been building a fan base since the 90's. People don't like change and will for what ever reason play a less superior game.
Any way-I am way off topic. People are too sensitive when it comes to other peoples opinions.

I can blame EA, and just because it's legal, doesn't make it right. It's too easy to call it, "The American Way", but money rules all in this society. If it didn't, then Paris Hilton would be s****ping for change as a hooker. OJ Simpson would be in prison. Micheal Jackson would be a convicted child molostor. It's sad, but that's the way it is. I can mark EA as cowards. They used their money as a ticket out of losing a battle.
People tell me to not blame EA, even though they are one of the more shady American companies. Why doesn't Iraq want our democracy? What does America stand for? Where is the proud history of America? I must have blinders on my eyes, because I can't see much good. However, maybe I'm just talking as the "poor man".

Thats the American Way! Its Capitalism at its best. I hate the Yankee's for doing it, but I don't blame them. Any business would do it. Any person would do it. It is what our country was founded on.
And exactly what battle were they losing? They domintated football vidoe games for **** near 10 years. They may have not have had the best football game in your opinion (I would choose 2k over them also), but they did in the mind of many more people than the 2k series had.
Poor Shmoor. People aren't rich because they are lucky...it is because they have a strong business sense (or in Paris Hilton's case have rich parents with strong business sense). What can you blame them for? Making a smart business decision?
It is strictly survival of the fittest and had 2ksports been strong enough to push their product (which was probably more superior) as hard as EA did, they may have the license.
Segasports/ESPN video games in my mind have a horrible marketing team and failed to push their product to the public.
Tracy Morgan pushing your games?
You are really calling them shady for having strong business sense. They don't lie, cheat or steal like Enron. They simply capitalized on an opportunity.
And unless you are a politician, don't bring up Iraq. I doubt that you are qualified and have the knowledge that our government has over there and I won't even begine to pretend that I do.
But we, in America, have it much better than anyone else. If you feel that they are better off without us, then by all means, go live there. I mean if you can't see any good.
You want to work harder than everyone else only to be equal, by all means live in a socialist or communist country. If you want everyone to have a fair chance even though others put forth a much better effort-move to N. Korea or Cuba.
The proud History of our country is dominated by big business: Rockafeller, Ford, etc.
And in case you've never served on a jury, those "criminals" were all found innocent by people just like you and me. They can hire whoever they want to represent them, but the decision is made by 12 people in a room.

Well, I don't accept it, even though it's there. Even though there's a jury, you can't help that there is a bias on the jury's decision's. People idol fame, and fame alters decisions of people. People accept the masses, rather than use their brains on making a proper decision. Which, the masses are ignorant, and very few are knowing. The ones that are knowing, are usually the ones that people reject. If you're not the masses, then you are an outcast questioning the ways of the masses. It's sad, but true.
I could care less to what I think is the better game. I can't accept that you think capitalism is such a good thing. You're looking like a fool who simply shrugs his shoulders and moves along the way. While I wish I could have that attitude, I don't, but maybe I should.
Yeah, EA is the sole prime of capitalism. This company not only bought NFL, but also bought every license of football that makes profit. It's cowardly, sad, and pathetic. Too bad I'm not one of the masses who thinks this is a good thing, but we as people must accept it. However, just because it's there, doesn't make it a good thing. It's really no wonder to me why the world dislikes America. We have zero values, and don't care about anything, but ourselves. What people don't understand, we are the masses, and the government is the minority. It's the same thing that caused the British empire to fall, and sadly, when people realize they are the power, the same fate is about to happen to us. Welcome to repeated history.

Why are you here in America if you have all of these problems? What are you doing to try and change it?
EA did not by the NFL. They bought sole rights to use all NFL lisecensing for football video games. Really a meaningless thing in the world. If you want to talk about values. Maybe its us to blame since we care so much for video games.
If what EA did is pathetic, what do you propose? Should we pay doctors what we pay newspaper delivery boys? Should we let anybody play in the major leagues? Should teachers give every student an A regardless of their knowledge, effort and work ethic?
Are you pro-communism? Do you think that everyone should share equally. I went to college and busted my a-s-s to have a promising and successfull career. Should I share or feel bad with someone who decided to skip class and do drugs while I worked hard?
I find it ironic that you like baseball-a game of pure competition, when you feel just the opoisite is appropriate for business. I find it ironic that you would purchase this game when you are only contributing to the capitalistic nature of our society by giving more money to major league baseball.
The British Empire fell because of their oppressive leadership. The reason AMerica was founded was because a group of driven capitalists decided they had enough of the oppresive rule or the king.
You should be thankful that you are able to come on these boards and ***** about baseball games when people all over the world would give nearly everything for a similar opportunity.
I don't get how you can say that you don't accept it when it is there. You may not believe it is fair, and that's one thing, but failing to accept it is just being blind to the real world. You claim the world hates us or dislikes us, yet every one tries to be like us. They try and mimmick their goverment after us. Have you ever been to ***an or Mexico or any other foreign country? Have you seen the way people act and mimmick our ways here?
Obviously, I cannot state this as a fact, but it is my opinion that the countries that "don't like us" strive to be us.
How do you think business should be ran? Should everyone just receive a fair share? Equal opportunity is out there, but it is up to the people to capitalize on the opportunity.

You are laughing at his ignorance? For starters that's just your way of getting out of losing this battle asy ou claim EA to have been by buying the NFL license. But you are also ignorant to the fact that the NFL esentially put the license up for auction. Had EA not bought them, VC would have bought them instead. EA would have been foolish sacrificing their biggest revenue earner in Madden.

And seriously, if the country bothers you so much and you don't plan on doing anything to change it...why not move?

Why doesn't Iraq want our democracy?
If Iraq doesn't want our democracy, it's because they've never experienced it. All they've heard are lies from Al Jazeera YV and their Religious Clerics that the USA is "The Great Satan"
What does America stand for? Where is the proud history of America? I must have blinders on my eyes, because I can't see much good. However, maybe I'm just talking as the "poor man".
If you can't see the good in America, you not only have blinders on, but a 12 inch thick paper bag over your head as well.
When you woke up this morning, did you have to beg for food? If not, then you are better off than at least half the world.
Are you able to publicly worship or not worship the God of your choice? If so, then you are better off than many many people in the world.
Were you able to go to school? Then you are better off than many many people in this world.
After you wrote what you wrote against the government, were you thrown in jail and/or executed? If not, then you are better off than many many people in the world.
Is America perfect? No. But no country is. And we have many more freedoms than most people in the world. You should be grateful.

Yeah, and if you were so knowledgable, you would know that the rumors of EA paying a billion dollar contract to the NFL were printed an entire half year before it happened. The aritcle strictly address only a transaction between EA and the NFL, of which they both lied and claimed false. The NFL was only looking at EA, and used the "auction" as tool for the gullable elite, such as yourself, to believe.

It's not really the country that bothers, it's just people. People bother me, but I can't hide in a cave. Anyway, there are few people I run into that amaze me. With every 50 evils, you may find a good. I, at least, do what I can to not contribute the evils of this inane society. I've done my part in a lot of ways.

Its not the country, its the people?...The people are the country.
Thats like saying its not the car I don't like, just all of the parts that it is made of.
Doing nothing to contribute to the evils is far from contributing to the good. Thats like seeing a crime and not reporting it. You didn't contribute to the crime, but you did nothing to prevent it. That doesn't help the situation at all.
Again, my question to you is this: In your opinions, how should things be ran? Should a powerful company that is driven, not be able to succeed in fear that the "slacker" companies may fail or be ran out of business?

Actually, you're wrong. You're mixing contribution with recognition. If you contribute to something, you're part of that something. If you contribute to evil, you're part of that evil. However, you're partially right. Not contributing to evil IS far from contributing to good, because you could easily sit there and shrug your shoulder's. If I see a crime, and don't do anything about it, I would technically be contributing to the evil, especially if it benefits.
How should things be ran? Really, I don't know. I think people need to have more compassion of the others around. We run this government based on selfish desire. "What is good for me" mentality. The masses do not care about the suffering certain issues may cause, because if it doesn't effect them, then there's no reason to participate. I think if the masses had more compassion for the overall public, then this country could benefit the most. Instead of voting issues in that suit only you, maybe looking into voting issues that have a dramatic presence for the overall public. This alone could limit crime, enrich lives, and create a more base of unity.
