There are alot people having this problem. One of the problems is if you use a router, I had the same problem with freezing as soon as I started an online game, but for me it was the router, I have a D-Link DI 604, and the 360 just does not like communicating with that particular router, and I'm sure there are other routers out there that have the same incompatibility issue. (even with the appropriate firmware). So if you use a router, try direct connecting your 360 to your modem, that will help.

My issue is with the online leagues. Myself and a friend run NHL Extreme, we've been around for over 3 years now. This year we decided we would use the online leagues that 2k sports offer, so last night we set up a test league to tweek the sliders. But we found that in the lobby, If I sent him a challenge, his 360 would freeze when he accepted, and if he sent me a challenge then mine would freeze when I accpeted.

We did this a number of times and got the same result.

I dont think its a problem with the 360 cuz I play other online games, (quake 4, Ghost Recon, Perfect Dark Zero) And dont have any freezing problems.

I certainly hope that Mr. Bishop and his crew will look into this problem and if they cant find a solution, at leased find the cause of the problem so we dont see it again in future versions of 2k hockey.

WTF IS THIS SCHITT?? Buddy are you stupid or something? THIS ONLY HAPPENS WITH 2K6!!!

Your the same moron that repsonded the BCBud's post about the same issue. Don't come on here with your regularly scheduled answers if you don't know what the fucckk your talking about. I'm already piissed off with this schitt already.

I returned my game and it seems to be fine so far, but it did freeze up once already so it hasn't exactly stopped. If I continue to have these problems 2K Sports can be assured I will finally return their garbage back to where I bought it from for a refund.

And Ultimately, I will never purchase a 2K sports title again. I will also make a point to any gamer that 2K sports is garbage and that they do not support their product.

VR I read your post, I was just saying that it helped for me, thats all. If you want help with your problems, stop getting in peoples faces and calling them "moron" when they take the time to try and give you a solution or idea that might help.

I think this has to do with editing the lines. I have not been playing on LIVE but I have had the XBOX freeze up on me after each season game, only when I have made changes to the lines.

I am able to save my profile...after that the machine simply locks until I power off/on.

It seems fine without the edited lines and then I am able to save my season. the XBOX360 is NOT hot at all, nor is the power supply. In fact, neither of mine get significantly hot.

Can anyone else confirm this had to do with line edits? Again, this is happening to me when NOT on LIVE.

I like keeping my lines the same as the real teams. i am not so sure the latest rosters are even close. guys that have been regularly dressed for weeks since the latest update are still in the minors in the last update.

Bummer...there are a ton of other bugs too!

Not trying to get in your face at all, just frustrated. But the other homeau, and not sure if he's with 2K sports or not, comes here with the SAME answer for everybody else that's having problems with this game.

i would also really like confirmation that it's due to editing lines... even though that still sucks, i've had the best videogame hockey experiences i've had prior to it freezing on me and i'll accept the fact i can't edit lines as long as it will let me save it afterwards.

Chris,

Have you had the freezing problem after editing lines too?

VR46 you dumfuq freak!!! clearly you have a really ghey connection or a really ghey copy of the game if it's freezing so consistently. it hasn't happened for me more than 2-3 seperate times. if it freezes for you more than that, you're in no position to bittch out someone who tries to help you. especially if he presents his advice in such a lucid, thoughtful manner as sonic did. you are truly ignorant and horrible you ungrateful little sod!!! your game is probably freezing because your opponent is owning you so hard the game has initiated an emergency mercy rule!!!! i've had enough of your whining!!!!

i've been at work since i first saw that theory and have yet to try it... i will confirm it as soon as i can, as i will delete all my current saves and start all over without any edits and see what happens. for the record, my game has froze on me the last 10 games i have played... we're talking 100% of the time. i had played 16 games into my season before this happened and i have 8 other 360 games that have given me NO problem whatsoever. it makes no sense because i started my season with downloaded rosters and was controlling all 30 teams. i've been editing my lines since game one so i'm baffled at what caused the meltdown after a certain number of games and not at the beginning.

Well, at least it is confirmed for me. i played two games with the edited lines, and the xbox froze right after it told me it successfully saved my profile (several games last night as well). Then I restored the lines to the computer's default, and have since played two games with no freeze. I followed the same procedure as before. Saved my profile, then accepted the machine's confirmation with no lockup and I was able to save my season.

SUX I can't have my edited lines, but i guess that's just another one of the many bug in this game. 2KSports should really give us a free copy of NHL2K7 when it's released. I know they were under massive pressure for a holiday release on this one, but they should have accepted that they didn't successfully meet their deadline.

Thumbs down to Microsoft too for not tightening the quality control line on the balls of 2ksports. In the long run it makes the 360 look like it's at fault. Were any consoles returned to MS for freeze issues in this game?

Ah forget it, I've read all the posts about all the problems. What has 2K Sports done... nothing, and what are they gonna do anyway, do a recall.............pppffffftttt yeah right.

I'm done with this. I've come to the conclusion that everybody's just going to have to live these problems and wait for EA sports NHL 06 or 2K7, maybe then they'll spend more time on stability then how fast they can release their product.

I just got this from 2ksports, but have not tested this

"You will just have to make sure that whenever you make any roster moves that you still have enough players on the minor league team to fill out the minor league lines so that the game will not lock up."

This may be the reason for my lock ups since some players I called up from the minors, but to make room I just made others a healthy scratch instead of sending THEM to the minors.

Guys,
It has nothing to do with bieing online. I too have games freeze up at the Loading . . . screen after playing a quick game, or season game and I am NOT on-line. It was working fine for a month, but them out of the blue, started hanging up. I returned the game, thinking I had a damaged disc, got a new one, only to have the problem still appear. I have heard many horror stories about this particular game. I have no problem with any other games including King Kong, PGR, Kameo, etc. I contacted Microsoft, and their general comment is if you have warranty, send it back to them. I do not want to send it to them, only to lose all my harddrive info when a different unit is returned. As well, how guarenteed is the shipping back and forth from Canada, that I don't end up with a smashed, or lost unit, that was never a problem in the first place. CFan someone confirm that it is the software and not the XBox360 Console?

Thanks,
Craig

OK EVERYONE!
Just got off the phone with a Christian at 2KGames. After explaining to him the freezing problems on the loading screen, he has suggested the following:

1. upon loading a game, do NOT touch the glow button at all as this has been known to cause problems.

2. If 1 above still does not fix the problem, then remove the hard-drive, and re-start the game with the hard-drive removed. Play through a game, and go to the load screen. If it then works, we now know that there is a file on the hard-drive that 2K6 does not like. Finding that file, though, is difficult.

3. Final suggestion was to re-format the hard-drive as he has had other people finding success when they do this. Unfortunately, you need to walk through this with Microsoft AND you will lose all data from other games. This is not to say that you won't encounter the same problems once you play those games again, and re-create the so-called phantom file!

Coming from a computer background, and deeply involved in programming major systems for manufacturing companies, I am shocked that this software was released with so many shallow errors. It is evident that the basic error event routines were not written in the code. Very dissapointing!

Craig

ps. anyone out there already try the suggestions above? Success or Failure?

Yes, I've tried 1,2, and 3. I even returned the game for a new one. Since trying all of this I have only had one freezing problem. DONT RETURN YOUR CONSOLE. If it this was a console problem, then you would be experiencing this problem with all your games, not just this one.

But I believe that 2 is the answer. It's something in your HD that the game doesn't like that causes this. When I would remove the HD, no problems, as soon as the HD went back in, it ****ped out on me.

You right though, this is dissapointing, and I'll will never purchase a 2K sports title again. As soon as EA sports comes out, 2K sports is going right in the trash where it belongs.
