I just heard that the 49ers traded Owens to the Ravens for the 52nd pick in this year's draft....

And I got this info LONG before RAVE_NOMAD and his "inside sources"....

Need my source? Go here: http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/7142347

Seeing how many Super Bowls that Owens won for the 49ers, I guess you all should start planning the parades now...

For a player that whines and cries about getting the ball, I don't understand why he'd go to a team built around ball control and defense.

Simple....The Ravnes coach hates ball control ....Billick made a name for his self with the Vikings as there offensive cordinator...(remember ol Randle cunningham and the vikes went 15-1)???? They had the best O in town....then he became Baltimores coach and they had that awesome D...lets face it with D like that who needs to pass....but now, Teams will have to respect the pass....Owens on one side,Travis taylor+Marcus Robinson on the other..and lets not forget Heap ......opps..we forgot about Jamal Lewis....hmmmmm ...........what to do, what to do?????

So just what are the charges agains Lewis anyhow? And speaking as someone who knows...Just because you have a bomb reciever doesn't mean jack without 1) a good QB 2) a running game (if Lewis is gone) 3) Gotta coach it.

Two words. Patriots, Redskins. Last year you saw how to do it right (Pats) and how not to do it (Spurrier). We now have Gibbs...and Portis...and Brunell (who hasn't started a full season since 1934) and Coles.

We play this year. Still to early to see who should be favored, but still...

People cant deny the Ravens are looking awesome...i cant wait for the new espn game to come out...2k5 should favor the Ravens eh?
i mean it is early to start talking but this if anything will open up the defenses so Jamal Lewis can run...(dont kid yourself into thinking he is going to jail) they will have to double To and then you have Travis Taylor on the other side with Marcus Robinson (another deep threat) then you add a dash of heap in the middle....you have the makings of a offensive juggernaut....what if the Ravens had an offence?? this was a question many people asked last year .....well it looks like we are going to find out...if anything this doesnt hurt the Ravens,,,,we were 10-6 and won the division....this only helps our chances at doing the same or possibly better....Brian Billick is a good coach and has proven that time and time again....go back to 2 years ago ..the Ravens had to rebuild and were in the playoff hunt without Ray Lewis(dislocated shoulder) chris redmen (bad back) he was the starter at the time....and yet they were in the hunt up untill week 17...then the follwing year they win the division...thats a good job...they win the division with a rookie at QB and a watch salesman (looks like a pssst over here guy in a trenchcoat)......you add Terrell Owens and thats doing alot....add Warren Sapp and thats bolstering the Ravens Defence only weakness D-line......hmmmm watch out...in my humble opinion!! peace though...

THATS EXACTLY WHAT I SAID!!!..WTF. What kind of idiot who we know is selfish would go to a ball control offense? Look at K. Johnson in TB. That was something you KNEW was not going to work out over the long haul. Ravens MAIN weakness is the SAME as last year, the QB. I say BIG BRIAN and Ray Lewis send T.O packing after about a year. Why? Because the offense still centers around Jamal.

As for my Skins look for us to make moves. Hope we draft the safety from Miami. Goodluck vs us Redskins fans next year in 2k5.

Maybe you didnt read earlier, I stated that Brian Billick has worked with troubled receivers in the past ..moss,carter etc...he will make it work...And Kyle Boller is a NFL Quarterback....how many out there can say that?? IF he wasnt good he wouldnt be playing...another thing is TO complained because there were other pretty decent receivers in the mix...Terrell Owens will be the top guy on offence for the Ravens...Jamal wont have to gain 2066 yards anymore...and like i have been saying this at least makes teams have to respect the pass.....

How stupid can the Ravens be for giving up a 2nd rounder for this guy? I mean, Terrell Owens signed with the Ravens to be a runner, not a receiver, because they won't be able to get him the ball. NO QB! If Boller wasn't good he wouldn't be playing? What? How many QB's can you name that are playing that suck? I can name a whole lot.

I can't stand Ray Lewis, personally, as far as I know him, but he's a hell of a player, and I love how he stands for TEAM. I can't wait to see him slap and yell at TO on the sidelines for being a selfish egomaniac. It'll happen too.

And the SuperBowl? Are you kidding? Talk after you travel to Indianapolis again and win there. New England will have much to say about that as well.

As far as the Skins... I'm a Giants fan... yeah, yeah. And to be honest, I hope the Skins do well, and the Cowboys, and I hope my Giants rebound this year and make this the best division in football like it was 10 or so years ago, along with Philly in the mix. Bring back the Black and Blue Division. Don't you just love football?!!!?

We said the exact same thing a couple of years ago and the 49ers rebuilt the whole team and got no championship, titles, nothing. Now they are back to rebuilding mode. Thats very sad. Ravens (and i'm tired of the fans here) got a SB win and rebuilt to a better team. 9ers management need to place a call to the Ravens to find out how its done.

Your all quick to judge the Ravens and to be honest ....it sounds alot like sour grapes to me, Terrell Owens is a top receiver in the NFL, Billick has dealt with mouthy guys before....ie.Vikings Moss+Carter, I think this is a great idea and i am very excited...indeed the games have to be played but i think teams will not look at us and say easy win...first off we had a great team last year with a tough Defence..that hasnt changed the only thing that has changed is we have a top receiver now!! that will stretch the Defenses we play and open up holes for Jamal Lewis....Kyle Boller is young and he got hurt last year ..so whats with all the hating?? He will have a chance to grow with Terrell and Terrell wont have a problem with it...sometimes people just need a change of scene.....Terrell Owens will be the go to guy as far as the passing game is concerned...why would he be unhappy about that?? And by the way the Ravens are not the team with the bullseye on them ....Just because they signed a good WR doesnt make them the SB champs...thats the Patriots untill someone beats them...But like i said before no team should overlook the Ravens this year....What if the Ravens had an offence??? We might just get our answer.......thanks..

the ravens will NOT win a superbowl this yr. its kinda like how the redskins had that allstar tm back in 2k1 and underachieved. i loved that redskin tm though(lol). the new redskins are looking better but still need more defense. ill always be a buc fan through this current group of allstars we got...we going to win another SB soon. and sign sapp!!

Lots of truth here...but if I may point out the following:

Billick wasn't the head coach with Minn, and that makes a BIG difference. Also, Carter wasn't NEAR the showboating player in MN as he was in Philly.

The danger with a talent such as TO (who allready is apparently 'upset'...but that's on ESPN) is there is the temptation to say "make me the man!!!" Good thing you have Ray Lewis who (I assume) won't stand for that.

Baltimore had a great defense last year, but I would shy away from saying they had a great team. They did almost lose the division to the Bengals you know...

But all in all...lots of truth in your post. TO was the best WR out there available. Time will tell however if you have the QB to get it there.

The Ravens won when they needed to,
They beat The Bengals head to head to win ...and in the end had 2 more wins....if you look at power rankings the Titans were way ahead of the ravens yet the Ravens took it to them ...this was taken from the Ravens websight....
By Adam H. Beasley

A day after the Ravens traded for wide receiver Terrell Owens, which immediately changed the NFL landscape, life returned to normal at their practice facility Friday.

Instead of the noticeable buzz that filled the hallways before and after the team made the move on Thursday, which sent the Ravens’ 2004 second-round pick to San Francisco, the Owings Mills compound was a mostly quiet place.

Less than 24 hours after making the biggest trade in team history, the only noise came from the team’s weight room, where several players worked out, and of course, talked about their newest teammate.

“When you get an offensive addition like that, there’s nothing but positives that can come out of it,” said punter Dave Zastudil, who is preparing for his third NFL season. “I’m excited for the season to start. I think we can put it all together, and hopefully we can get that Super Bowl [ring], like we’re trying to. All the pieces are there.”

Two years after gutting the roster that won the team a Super Bowl in 2000, the Ravens are right back in the race.

While the defending world champion Patriots will likely remain the favorites to repeat, the Ravens have to be part of the debate.

They will return at least 10 of 11 starters from a defense that ranked third in the NFL last year. Now, with the addition of Owens, they have the arguably the four best offensive players, at their respective positions, in the league.

Owens joins 2003 offensive player of the year Jamal Lewis, future Hall of Fame tackle Jonathan Ogden and two-time Pro Bowl tight end Todd Heap. They will all get a little less attention from opposing defenses this year, thanks to Owens’ arrival.

When asked if Owens, Heap and Travis Taylor, a first-round pick in 2000, constitute the best group of pass-catchers he’s had in Baltimore, wide receivers coach David Shaw didn’t think twice.

“I’d say yes,” Shaw said. “We have a deep threat, we have intermediate, and now we have the ability to throw the ball short and still get a big play out of it, which has been Terrell’s M.O. for his entire career.”

Owens will presumably have as big of an impact on the practice field as he will on Sundays.

He’ll constantly push one of the best defensive backfields in the league – including Pro Bowlers Chris McAlister and Ed Reed – and he’ll show the Ravens’ young receivers what it’s like to be one of the NFL’s premier receivers.

“His running after the catch is his strength,” said third-year wideout Javin Hunter, who is currently recovering from an Achilles tendon tear. “As soon as he catches the ball, you see how strong he is, running and getting up-field with it. That’s one of the most exciting things about it.”

By parting with their second-round pick, the Ravens’ first selection in this year’s draft won’t come until late in the first day. The team is without a first-rounder as well – sent to New England in a draft-day trade for quarterback Kyle Boller last year – and so they will have to wait until the 88th overall selection before doing any damage in April.

Despite the lack of first-day activity, Ravens director of college scouting Eric DeCosta said the team’s preparation for its ninth draft will not change.

Pointing to just last year, when highly-rated running back Musa Smith fell to the team in the third round, anything can happen on draft day.

“For us to change anything this year would seem to be foolish, based on the fact that, conceivably, one of our top guys could drop to us in the third round,” DeCosta said. “We’re going to scout like we always have. The system, what we do, will remain in place. We continue to evaluate these guys, cross-check these guys and consistently evaluate these guys and let the chips fall where they may.”

I think this sums it up nicely....As far as this new grivence is concerned , nothing will come from it...Owens was in Baltimore colors and in Baltimore, He will get a big time contract soon and all this will be forgotten...but all in all it is a done deal...Im happy about it as are all Ravens fans...we finally have a big time big play receiver...and that feels pretty good...so all you haters and all the jeolousy needs to stop ...just let us Ravens fans have this..thanks........I mean we will all have to wait and see how our teams do ...but this does improve the Ravens.....

Wait..let me get this straight...T.O. thought he was gonna catch Donovan McNabb's passes....but now he has to settle for Kyle Boller passes?

Hmmm...I don't think this relationship is starting off on the right foot. Looks like T.O. needs a NEW agent who can get s-hit done right.

The 49ers SCREWED T.O. again....LOL...oh this is too much..He thought he was an Eagle and got shipped to the wrong address...and you Ravens fans don't see a problem brewing already?

This guy is going to play miserable now...he's filing a grievance because he doesn't want to be a Raven, he wants to be an Eagle. WOW!

People are making too big of a deal out of this, This is all about cash ...
The Ravens will offer him a big signing bonus and this will all be settled,
We cant make more out of this then any other holdout...and thats all this is...he also stated that Baltimore was one of his choices...the bottom line is he is Baltimore Ravens Property and they have him under a 3 year deal....just because he wanted a big bonus and a new deal doesnt change that .....The Ravens coach said this is nothing out of the ordinary tons of players have holdouts.....just because he is TO people make a bigger deal out of it ....get over it..he will be a Raven and do well...you dont purposly drop passes in the NFL ......that would ruin your stats and a chance at being considered a top all time reciever....he isnt Randy Moss..

The Ravens coach said this is nothing out of the ordinary tons of players have holdouts.......

"I'm going to fight it [the trade] to the end until I can't fight it anymore," Owens told the station

"If it comes down to the point where I can't win, I'll be a Raven. [But] I'm not going to Baltimore and act like I'm happy to be there when I'm not."

Sounds like a typical holdout to me.....

People are making too big of a deal out of this...

hmmmm... now what Raven situation could you use this statement for...

A. Ray Lewis Murder Incident
B. Jamal Lewis Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine Incident
C. Terrell Owens fighting tooth and nail to not become a Raven Incident
D. All of the Above if you are a Raven fan

ravens_beat_you
March 8th, 2004, 12:46 PM
Lets see,
Ray Lewis =not guilty
Jamal Lewis=soon to be not guilty...you dont even hear about this case anymore...lol...
Terrell Owens= will get a contract and he stated Baltimore was on his short lost of teams to join...bottom line is T.O is a Raven he needs to realize he is in a great situation and he will get paid....The Ravens are not going to trade him and they are going to waive the right for a physical ......the BOTTOM BOTTOM line is he will report for camp or get fined...he is Baltimore Property and his agent is a dumb a55...the league aproved this trade and it wont get overturned....never has...never will....
