Who do you think is gonna go all the way? Well since I'm in Tennessee most people would think I'd like the titans to win but since kearse has went to phillidelphia the titans don't really have much of a defensive line. But I think the panthers are gonna be a good team to beat again but really I think it'll be

NFC Panthers

AFC Ravens

its too early for me to do my picks for next year......but i will give my Surprise teams for next year...

AFC

Jacksonville...Young Defense under a head coach who loves defense if Leftwich keeps getting better this team will do some damage

NFC

Chicago...New Coach brings a new Attitude to the Windy City. A healthy Thomas running the ball and a solid Defense and they will improve over last years record...

Well hey it's a guess actually? But you know after everyone's mistakes from this year maybe just maybe it'll make next year a great year for football. And what about this. I know it wouldn't happen but what if and this is a big if what would the NFL do if all the teams went 8-8? What would they do and like I said that's a big if?

Penny
March 11th, 2004, 05:08 PM
u could still get playoff teams cause u look at the difference in points for n against n work out the beetr teams usin that\but i would like to c that happen

christoph
March 11th, 2004, 05:23 PM
I guess that's true but you know the NFL would more than likely make something up about the teams that have been in the playoffs in the past to and say they deserve to be in it. But what you said is good to.

christoph
March 12th, 2004, 03:25 PM
but then there's no telling what they would do to screw most the teams over.

I doubt all teams will end up 8-8 but lets see if that is the case then 2004 will be in the books for ever.

I would like to see Carolina go at it again. After going to the SB teams have taken a downfall the past few years so I would want Panthers to go again to prove something. Like to see FINS do some magic, Since I am from New Orleans would like to see Saints show up too.

Penny

no they should make playoffs but not too deep i dnt think
i like egales chances now for sure!!

ambrosio4
March 17th, 2004, 09:11 AM
Last year was a down year for the nfc south, ie bucs, falcons, and the usual saints. If the falcons return to playoff form, i think carolina will have a tough time. The bucs look dead based on off-season moves, and the saints, well, are the saints. The only team capable of making an incredible comeback and manage to blotch it with the PAT.

christoph
March 17th, 2004, 04:10 PM
since we are on divisions how about the afc north? Are they gonna be the division to beat this next year? ravens, bangels, patriots, and jets. The next superbowl afc team is more than likely coming from there.

ambrosio4
March 18th, 2004, 06:50 AM
isn't the AFC North, Baltimore, Cin, Clevland, and Pittsburgh? Don't know what to expect from Cle or Pitt, Baltimore will be solid, Cincy seems to be the wildcard with a new qb in all. Who knows, maybe if they can sign Sapp, it'll take pressure off their offense some...

Personally I'd love to see the Old AFC central reborn with Cle, Cin, Pitt, and Hou. Move Balt to the AFC east and Mia to AFC south. That's my rant of the day....

Nomahh
March 18th, 2004, 03:57 PM
Im thinkin the team for the pats to beat in the AFC East is the Phins, they got Williams, Chambers and Boston, and a solid solid D

ambrosio4
March 18th, 2004, 04:16 PM
yeah, but they lost a lot of linemen to free agency. Last year they had a good team on paper also, but couldn't manage a playoff birth. I think Boston is garbage, and fits into that whiney reciever club (K Johnson, T Owens, D Boston)

Nomahh
March 18th, 2004, 05:44 PM
I agree Boston does compliment the whiney receiver club. He is good though

BBB
March 21st, 2004, 06:55 AM
I say watch out for the Skins. They are a lot like the Phins from last season (great on paper) with one big exception... A great coach!

The Ravens look good as do the defending champs with lots of draft picks and the best coach in football.

Nomahh
March 21st, 2004, 12:30 PM

alot of people on espn think they might make it to the divison champ. but they won't win, but to tell u the truth I don't think they wil have a good season at all. But I do expect the eagles to do very well this year since they picked up kearse and t.o.. Since I'm from tn I know this very well and for everyone else that might have watched for the past 3 years, kearse has a bad case of being injured for 3/4 of the season for 3 years now I expect him to have another bad year

Im not sure if they will either but it would be nice. If they sign Corey Dillon like they say they will and draft someone good with their pick they have a good shot. All offseason they have been improving their Defense which helps...

Football is the only sport you can't do this. Or at least do it correctly.

In Baseball, Hockey, and Basketball you have a good idea what is going to happen before the season start.

for the 03 MLB season you knew Yankees would do good, and that pittsburgh would stink

for the 03-04 NBA season you knew the lakers would be in the playoffs

for the 03-04 NHL season you knew colorado, detroit, philadelphia and new jersey would make the playoffs. (but of course, Tampa Bay was a suprise)

for the 03-04 NFL season, not many people predicted the Raiders or Falcons to go 4-12. I'm sure nobody had the Panthers in the Super Bowl

REDSFAN2004
May 15th, 2004, 08:48 PM
thats what i like about the nfl its unpredictable like you said pretty much nobody knows what teams will do what until the end of the season it sure in the hell shocked me that the panthers were in the super bowl last year hopefully this season there are more surprises to come.

At least its not fixed like the NBA where Refs can dictact the outcomes of games with thier little whistles.

I disagree; any game controlled by officials can be dictated by them. Look at pass interference calls, offsides, or false starts, not to mention those even more contraversial calls like roughing the passer and various late hits. These can result in 15 yard penalties and they are all subject to the refs discression as far as calling them even both ways. I think everyone has seen a game with penalties called on their teams and then their opposition getting away with similar calls. In baseball you have an umpires strike zone and whether he will give one pitcher a certain strike zone and different pitcher a slightly smaller one. It happens in all sports![/list]

My Voice on refs having an effect on the game

I think football is the sport where the refs have the biggest effect.
Example: Holding happens on every play. They can call that whenever they feel like it. And there are a lot of judgement calls.

In hockey, there's no real way for the refs to give a team an advantage. Of course one time (actually a couple of times) Ive seen them give penalties to Donald Brashear for simply his reputation.

In baseball they can call balls strikes, strikes balls, runners who are out safe, and runners who are safe, out. But only on very close plays. Somebody keeps an eye on their calls (I forgot who,) on ESPN they said there's a camera behind homeplate, and the game tape is given to like the head of umpires.

In basketball, wait I don't watch a lot of basketball...

Since the Pats got Dillion, whats gunna happen, do you think?

As of right now I think it well be the Pats and the Eagles (finally). I would say Carolina but only one Super Bowl losing team in the last 8 years have return to the playoffs the following year. The titans did it after losing S.B. 34, but knock out in their first game.

Hey goyanks016 you were pretty much right on about the other leagues except for one when you said: for the 03-04 NHL season you knew colorado, detroit, philadelphia and new jersey would make the playoffs. (but of course, Tampa Bay was a suprise) Tampa went to the second round of the playoffs the year before. Have one of the best goal tenders in the world and a high scoring team. A surprise they won the cup yes, not at all a surprise they made the playoffs.

In my opinion i think the dolphins will when the AFC because they have a good D and a great running game and with the addition of David Boston thier passing will improve. In the NFC i would have to say the eagles( i hate the eagles with a passion) i would love to see my cowboys go all the way :D .

My Voice on refs having an effect on the game

Example: Holding happens on every play. They can call that whenever they feel like it. And there are a lot of judgement calls.

I disagree. There are things that occour every play, but no-one fouls out. No power play either. The can call P.I. or Holding but they can't cause a fumble or catch a touchdown.

In hockey, there's no real way for the refs to give a team an advantage. Of course one time (actually a couple of times) Ive seen them give penalties to Donald Brashear for simply his reputation.

Loving Hockey the way I do (and I notice you live in Mass...anywhere near Springfield?) I WAY gotta disagree with you here. Look at Tampa. How many even strength goals did they score? How many power play goals? What a ref decides will be called makes ALL the difference. There are some automatic calls, but a lot of the rest is judgemental and results in 5 on 4 or even 5 on 3 hockey. THAT'S an effect.

Officials are reviewed in every major sport. If there is ever a standard strike zone I'll give these folks the benefit of the doubt. Until then, how an ump calls the zone will determine who gets on base about 40% of the time...if not more.

In basketball, wait I don't watch a lot of basketball...

I do...and I feel this is where the refs have the biggest effect. When was the last time you saw walking called in the NBA? It happens...but only rarely. Ask any long time Pacers fan and they will tell you how many steps Patrick Ewing took to win that game. Currently, every time Shaq gets the ball there's a foul committed...half the time by him. Still, since he's a major player, he gets away with murder.

Sorry...had to comment. That's been a hot topic here lateley.

Oh yea...

NFC: Want the Skins...but I expect the Panthers & Seahawks to fight that out. Honorable mention: Packers. Last ride.

AFC: Pats & Titans. Honorable mention: Colts & Broncos.

Expect: Pats over SeaHawks.

What will happen: Cargers over Cardnials.

That's a joke folks...
