this is sumthin i really liked: in mvp 05 u could take out 2nd baseman with a slide (double play) :D
but when eva i was runnin to first and it look like a close play i always tryed to use different slides to take out the baseman but all it did was go through...which always made me angry. Or sum times when a baseman is in my way i run through him but nothin happens???
so this year as we now we have player fieldin collisions will u be able to run over a baseman if h is cleary standin in ur way?????
or if u hit a pop fly right on the first base line and the pitcher goes to catch it....will u be able to push him ova??? <cose hes in ya way..right?!?!?!
thanks

Probably, since their last answers are delayed. You could ask if there is another to be scheduled, but I think this is the last one.

Most likely with the collision system there will be, but I'm not sure. And yea, MVP 05 (and NCAA 06) have that feature and its cool. I always love taking out the 2nd baseman and watching him fall and drop the ball, then scatter to get the ball.

If this is in the game hopefully there is some failsafe put in place to prevent people from abusing it.

they have actually said that there will be infield and outfield collisions. So yes.

I’m guessing the base running collision detection – not the IF/OF collision detection, because we know they’ve programmed same-team collisions into the game – is exactly like 2K5: where the base runner heading for a bag runs or slides right through the infielder.

no, they showed in one of the video's that the first baseman was taken out. It was actually gameplay footage too.

Okay... guess I missed that.

Check this vid out. At the 29-30 second mark, the baserunner slides into the bag and slides right through the body of the infielder. Sorry, it looks like the base running collision detection is the way it was last year.

Knock the C over, sure. But infielders? Couldn't last year, anyways.
And this isn't A-Rod "Slap-em" Baseball 2K6, so why would you even want to make contact with the third baseman? So he'll drop it? Eh, that's sissy ball I'm afraid.
EDIT: Unless we're talking accidental collisions or something -- different story, and it would be good to see those in the game.

I'd like to see them add a button to make the fielder dive after he already has the ball. Some times you will see a fielder dive for a tag or to touch the base.
-This could make for some awsome/ugly collisions at bases.

This is exactly what I was thinking when this topic was first posted. Collision would be great , but I think the reason we havet seen it yet is that it has to be implemented in a way that it couldnt be used as a cheap tactic. Maybe just not having it in the game is best for the time being.
I could see it now. People purposely taking uut infielders to get to bases safely. Which seems like what this guy wants to do with that feature.

Yeah, I really don't see a need for it in a video game except to:
a) knock over the catcher
b) break up a double play.
Although, In MVP there are throws that always pull the firstbaseman down the line and the runner would just runs right through them on their way to first base (funky looking). SO I could see it being used in this situation. The only thing is the advantage would go strictly to the runner as you can't control the firstbaseman until he catches the ball.
-It would be kind of cool as a defensive player if when you came off the bag-you had a push a button to apply the tag to the approcaching, often dodging runner.
There are a few other situations, but again-they really only benefit the runner.
a) pick off plays where the runner beats the throw to the base and the fielder (could happen at any base) is standing between the runner and the base.
b) fielder standing in the base path w/out ball while runner is trying to advance (ie-runner on first and ball hit up the middle. SS covers the bag incase the second baseman can get to the ball. Ball rolls up the middle and runner collides w/fielder as he rounds second on his way to third (basically interference)-but again in this situation if you are on defense, your controlling the CF and would have no way to move the SS.
In these situations, instead of a collision, I would prefer they just make it so any collision would be avoided either via a nift animation or just by moving the fielder out of the basepaths ahead of time.
While we are semi-on the topic, I think it would be cool if they added an animation for runners to avoid getting hit by a batted ball and on a very rare occasion (a few times a season) maybe the ball could hit the runner, or an umpire for that matter.
