I want to run a league that has rotating seasons. Trades stick year to year, keep same teams, but many seasons. To keep interest fresh the season length will be shorter but at least with trades and constantly trying to better your team there will always be next year for people that missed the playoffs.

Settings will be forthcoming, but expect a trade approval council, a couple people with commish power, trade tracker, and more.

Alright, it appears there is enough interest to have a complete league. We may have a 24 team league, depending on who decides this league isnt for them, or if people wont play unless they have THEIR team (also to account for the teams no one wants to play as).

So what I need from those of you that are interested, is an actual declaration of intent. Please send me a private message stating you will join the league and a list of ten teams. If you are set on a certain team and wont join unless you get yours state that. If you are vey flexible with who you play with, let me know. That way I can try and get everyone involved in the league and make each of you happy.

Once I get everyones messages I will post who is what team. At that point you can decide to pull out or trade teams with another person if you dont like what team you have.

Additionally, I will have a co-commish or two, as well as a trade council (~ 4 people), and a league writers group (~2-10, depends on interest). If you have interest in any of those responsibilities let me know. They will be on a strictly volunteer basis.

****RULES UPDATE****

I set up a test league to see what the options were, here are the settings we will be playing on.

Basic League Structure:

TRADES:

1) There will be a four (4) person trade council.
2) You will need to have three (3) approvals from the council for the commish to sign off on the proposed trade.
3) All trades carry over to the following season.
4) In the event of a roster update removing a traded player from your roster between seasons, unfortunately you are S. O. L. You will still be required to send the player(s) you gave away to their designated team.

PITCHING:

1) Balls are allowed, this is a sim league. Dont swing if its out of the zone. (NOTE: Junk pitchers are not allowed either, no one throws every pitch out of the zone)
2) There will be a set 4 man rotation. You can change your rotation after your 12th and 24th game, or due to injury.
3) Your fifth starter is designated long relief pitcher, you can not bring him in after the 5th inning. But once he is in, he can pitch as long as you want.

you should have a draft... IMO, just because its a fun way to run it, and that way everyone should be happy... if people are only going to play with a couple teams, then you may wanna question their commitment anyweays.... Most of the people only want to win, and not have fun with being in the league... If you do multiple seasons, you need committed owners.. im with it as long as we have fun and their arent any cheesers.... Maybe hold a vote to see who wants to have a draft for teams or what not.. if your set on the way you have it, thats cool too.... Believe that, i have ran alot of leagues over at xbgl.com.

1. How often do you play games and at what times, cause believe it or not i am somewhat busy during the school year.

2. Also how many games are in a season, is it the full 162?

3. another, what happens if you arent able to play a game, like if your out of town for a couple days, is it a forfit?

1. The times are up to you, when you and your opponent can meet up. Thats why I will stress people have an instant messenger service (AIM, YIM, MSN Messenger)

2. As far as the schedule, I am only going to run about a 20-30-ish game season, all the games are open at once but I will require a certain number be played per week. If you dont play your games then you are going to be replaced by someone that wants to play.

3. If you are going to be out of town just play a couple extra games the weekend before you leave so you wont be behind when you get back.

That's short season man i was thinking somewhere around the neighborhood of 50-60.

A 60 game season will take a few months, I want to flip the schedule at least twice (read, have three seasons). By making it shorter it will allow for more seasons, with more seasons we will have more champions (hopefully). I dont know the options we have for how many games we can play, so that is why I just threw out a range. Once xbox version of the game arrives at my house I will test the league settings, at which point I will see what we can do and get input as to what the masses want.

And after the first season if I see people are playing their games in a timely manner, we may be able to lengthen following seasons.

20 people have signed up through the PM like I asked, not all team selections have been made. I am still working through peoples list based on when I received their PM and when they initially showed interest.

Later today I will update with basic league setup. I have it written on paper, just need to type it up.

I also have only had one person tell me they are interested in volunteering for one of the positions that will help me make this league go smoothly. So if interested, please let me know. They include co-commish (please provide what experience you have had previously), trade council, and writers association.

When you do make the league make it flexiable scheduling so that means you can play your games when ever you want and don't have to play them in order, which makes them easier to play them all!

like i said, thats just a base, i am open to changing things. but i cant do ten playoff teams, the options are 4, 8, and 16....16 is too many, this is MLB, not the NBA.

As far as the reason the rotation is like that, this is a short season, wouldnt you rather your ace pitch an extra game rather than having your 5th starter try and clinch you a playoff spot?

As far as league start date, target date is Friday the 14th (maybe later, definitely not earlier). Once I get the game I will set up the league and start sending out invites.

it is an open schedule, you can play anyone on your schedule at any time. use the league forum and instant messenger to schedule with people.

Myself, I work until 5pm pst, but 3 nights a week i have class until 9pm pst, so I am in a similar situation. A little worse for my east coast opponents.

So you can not play all week and get your 3 games in on sunday, for example.
