I got online to play last night, and I'd challenge someone and it'd say start game, but it wouldnt connect!! I just signed up for a league but I might have to back out if I cant play, which sucks b/c I really want to play this game online. Can anyone please help me to where I can play online, I dont know why its doing this, I usually have no problem getting online, but with 2k sports I do, and I dont know why. So someone please help it'd be really appreciated

I have broadband and I always have 5 green bars on 2k's ping. Its just I'll challenge someone and it'll say start game but then it wont connect to them and it says sorry check 2k's FAQ and then I do and nothing is there. It's the same thing with NBA 2K6, but yet I can play nhl 2006 on EA sports online like nothing, my guess is it's something to do with 2k, I have broadband and I connect to 2k online easily it's just it wont connect me to another player, which sucks b/c I really want to play this game online.

pings mean nothing its messed up cause ill play someone who has a red ping and the connection is fine but sometimes the connection is bad.

If you have a router it will never happen and you have to set an static ip adress on your playstation or xbox and go through the whole port forwarding thing.

I do have a router, how do I do that setting up the Statci Ip then?

call your local internet provider and tell them to give you the ip address and all that stuff and go to net config and put the adresses in manualy its the only way it will work, i had to do it and mine works fine now.

you also need to get rid of the router its your main prob, you will prob have to direct conn, which is hook your modem directly to the ps2 with the ethernet cable. I had a router and thats what I had to do. Give me your email and ill send you tthe email i got on how to do the whole process.

Is it a 2k online thing only or something, b/c I do play EA sports nhl 2006 online ( only EA game I play ) but I have no problem connecting to them so I'm guessing its just the way 2k's online is set-up

well i have talked to 2ksports about this problem and this is what they told me u need to disable your routers and firewall and make sure UDP port 3658 is open and not being refreshed the easy to to get your best fix on all of this is to conect from the modem to the back of ps2 or xbox

Make sure your NAT setting in your network adapter settings is set to open. not restricted or limited. if it does not say open then upgrade your router firmware.

If you're having problems connecting, you might be using a router whose firewall is messing things up. I fixed my problem by plugging my playstation directly into my modem, instead of running the modem through the router and then to the playstation. The direct connection between modem and playstation fixed my problem. The problem is that i have two separate ethernet cables now. whenever i want to use my internet, i have to replug my router into the modem. but it's not too much of a sacrifice, since now i get to play online all the time.
