Before I begin my mini-rant, I still enjoy the game, but 2K could've made it a lot better with minimal improvements. No way is this game next-gen, or worth $60. 2K made a wise choice selling it at $40.
Why are there no replays? Tennis is a game of rallies. I want to watch and save my best ones so that I can share them with my friends and/or just to record some of the great moments in the game.
Where are online tournaments? Every other online multiplayer game from 2K Sports has online tournaments. Why did you decide to leave them out on this one?
The graphics on the user interface, the courts and the character modeling are pretty good, but the game animations could use some serious work. Just watch your player character run from corner to corner at the baseline sometimes. They run like they have leg braces on them. And what's with the ball boys? What's the point on having them in there, if they just aimlessly run across the net and don't even attempt to pick up the balls. Incredibly sloppy.
Why are the stats so limited? Why can't I access them online like for Halo 2 or Forza? Why can't I filter them to show only my friends? Why can't I check 1st serve percentages, winning percentages on 2nd serves, number of winners, number of winners by volleys or smashes, fastest recorded serve and advances stats like that? The game is already keeping most of those stats anyway, because they're shown on single-player games at the end of the game.
2K, your lack of effort and/or rush to the market approach to making games is showing again. You went where the fence is the lowest. Given your history in issuing patches and auto-updates, it's a safe bet this game will remain like this until you release Top Spin 3. You better be raising the par on that one, significantly, if you expect people to continue giving you money.
Luckily for you the game is bug free, relatively good at what (little) it does do and priced aggressively.
