Don't expect a fix anytime soon, but 1up predicts a Xbox Live patch. You guys not hooked up to it may be out of luck.
To me, it's not a Microsoft problem. It's a 2k problem. 2k Sports are the only ones notorious for freeze issues. No other company has these kinds of problems every year with their games.

Microsoft Working On MLB2K6 Issues
As Xbox 360s continue to crash, 2K Sports calls for help.

Two days ago gamers started reporting rampant game-breaking bugs featured in the Xbox 360 version of Major League Baseball 2K6, and it didn't take long for 2K Sports to fire back with an apology, a temporary solution for anxious sports gamers and the promise of a more permanent fix in the "very near future."
2K Sports still hasn't come up with a magic potion to fix their next-generation baseball title, but the company has updated their original statement to make clear that they are now working directly with Microsoft on ensuring MLB 2K6 receives the proper care it demands before moving forward.
Of course, that does nothing for the frustrated players who want to enjoy the game now, and many are wondering how the game made it through Microsoft. "This IS an MS problem. The game plays on THEIR system, and MS QA should do a thorough check of the game(s) for stuff like this," said Javier Vasquez, aka XMegatronX.
The controversy over MLB 2K6 has also brought back player's memories of issues with past 2K Sports releases, with several readers alleging similar problems with the Xbox 360 version of NHL 2K6. At this point, we're still unsure what steps 2K Sports and Microsoft will be taking with MLB 2K6, but an Xbox Live-distributed patch seems almost assured.

That's ******** if you can only get it through Xbox Live...I guess that's why the have the free 48 hours of Xbox Live...Maybe they put that in there and knew this was going to happen maybe to get more people to buy Xbox Live in case something like this happens? Would Microsoft do this?

Let's hope they at least make it available for free.
Knowing TT, they'll charge a few $ for it. If they're greedy enough to charge $2-3 for horse armour in ES4 (even though most other companies offer small things like that for free), they'll probabaly charge $10-20 for a MLB patch.

Or you could probably wait for the issue of the Official Xbox Magazine to come out that will undoubtedly have the patch on their coverdisc.

There's no way they can charge for a patch that fixes a broken game. Just no way.

Yes. And for people with no internet connection to have Xbox Live that can't happen. Microsoft would have to find another solution.

LOL no kidding dude----that frigging horse armor BS made me NOT buy Oblivion. I didn't realize that T2 had anything to do with Oblivion. If I did I wouldn’t have bought MLB2K6. Next time I’ll make sure to check out who the publisher is, as I won’t be going with T2’s offerings anymore.

If they charge anything at all for a fix to a broken game, then that will almost assure their doom as a video game company. That would be the worst business move in the history of man.

Get a grip people. Patches will never cost a dime and you dont have to pay for XBOX live GOLD to download stuff. XBOX live SILVER is free and you can download but just not play online.

well they could put the patch on an OXM disc or they could let you exchange it for a new version.
The way I see it MS's only fault is with the testing. Take Two does the first range of testing but most of that is off of a PC checking for software related bugs. MS does most of the actual disc spinning on 360 work.

Wrong. Can't blame Microsoft. 2k and Kush are ones making the game. Microsoft provides the tools and hardware for developers. Like my example in an older post, you can't blame a stereo maker (like Pioneer) if your music CDs (ie. EMI) don't play. If your music company can't make your CDs play on standard equipment, while every other music company has no problems, it's YOUR COMPANY'S problem. Some sloppy workmanship at your music company.
No other game maker out there has such consistent freeze problems with their titles.
Kush has been making games for years, 2k4, 2k5, 2k6...... and still the same gamebreaking issues. This isn't some small clipping, polygon collision detection or team xxx has the wrong colored socks on their jerseys thing.
Even small no-name upstart dev teams who have few games/or no games under their belt come out with games that don't crash like this.
I haven't experienced such freeze/crashing problems since the old DOS days on my 386 PC 15 yrs ago where you prayed the six 3.5 disks would install correctly. Add in all the stupid graphics and sound drivers, updated mouse drivers, VGA/SVGA compatibility, enough memory (back then 1 mb of memory was like $50. Only hardcore gamers would willingly fork over $200 for a 4 mb chip), etc........ At least back then, everyone knew there were so many configs and no real standards until Win 95 came out and helped things tremendously.
And back then, if there were issues with your game, they would actually shell out costs and send you replacement patched disks for free in the mail.

I'd love to have xbox live, but i live in a rural area, that dosent offer high speed Connections, and XBL isent supported by Dialup, so hopefully microsoft offers a solution for the few of us w/o a highspeed connection, either through a downoadable patch through a website, or a mailed disc to update our hardware.

I agree with you in a practical sense where I fault MS is in the fact that they are the last line of defense when it comes to testing the fidelity of a game. This is something they have to catch especially if the company has had previous issues.
