Hello,

I picked up MLB 2k6 for PSP yesterday which I am very much enjoying. The only hitch I've run into is that there doesn't appear to be any umpires in the game!

I have set the umpire audio to the maximum volume and I still don't hear them calling any pitches at all.

Is there another setting I'm missing or are other people experiencing the same problem? I also don't hear menu sound effects, which seems odd since there's also a slider for that which I have left in the default position. My PSP has firmware 2.6 and I haven't notice anything similar in any of my other games...

Thanks in advance,

--Alexis

p.s. and thanks 2K Sports and Kush for making such a feature-packed PSP version. We PSP owners *really* appreciate having full Franchise and GM modes 'on the go'.

R-

Yes, I realize there are no visible umps in the game. But do you have umpire audio? There's a slider for umpire audio volume, so I would assume there would be umpire audio...

I too cannot figure out for the life of me how to actually *play* a WBC game. Like you, I can only seem to sim them...

i just assumed you couldnt play the wbc but just imagine what happened lol, i selected a team, japan, then it wont let me play japan's games, I can only sim them as far as ump audio, i dont think so. In the preview it said that the psp version would be the exact same as the ps2 version feature-wise except missing umps so u cant argue calls... but to me the game looks like its missing something, that doesn't mean its not fun, lol

Nope, I don't have Umpires in the game either. Either audio or video. I have to check the count in the top after the pitch to see how it was called. Kind of a bummer, but not nearly as bad as your runner sliding into first base on an easy double a/la Xbox ;)

It's about the only fault I can find with the game.

I also don't have menu clicks either, but that doesn't really bother me all that much.

They had to take some things out to get super smooth gameplay that doesn't require much time-consuming and battery-draining UMD access during the actual game.

The rest of the PSP game is so good, it's nuts ... but we will have to request some umpires in 2K7.

yeahh.... ran across the same issue. I turned everything off and still no ump. What about chatter?

One other thing I wonder about is the "double barrelled shotgun at close range" sound of the ball whenever you make ANY contact with it. Even a bloop to the pitcher.

When I was playing the game next to a friend, he kept jumping every time I hit the ball. He thought the crips and bloods had finally declared an all out war.

For crying out loud, who at 2K sports ever went a baseball game and heard a bunt sound like a nuclear warhead explosion????

Yikes.

I love this game. It is my favorite.

The only things "wrong" are the complete lack of umpires, the "shock and awe" sound of the bat, and some dopey basrunning (I have baserunning assistance turned ON, and my guy still stops at second on a shot up the middle all the way to the wall ... now I have two guys standing next to second base and I have to retreat one guy to first manually. That could have been a triple or home run shot for the guy on first. Basically, there is no sane baserunning assistance.

It is still the best baseball game on the market. I turned the game SFX down to 20 so I don't **** myself every time I hit a ball. It makes the game a little more enjoyable, and keeps the neighbors from calling the cops because they heard a loud gunshot next door after I single to left field.
