If a player gets beaned and swings the "beaning" is nullified and the batter takes a strike.

I noticed that in the PS2 version as well. But that is a rule in baseball. Just like swinging at any ball that is way outside, if a batter swings at a ball and the ball beans the batter it is counted as a strike.
Go figure...

Dade, do you know the rules of Baseball? A swing and miss, even if it hits the batter, is a strike.

I had an instance where I checked my swing and got hit by the ball and it still counted as a strike. I don't know what the rule in baseball is for that, but it sure is annoying to happen in the game, especially because the ball looked like it was going to be a strike and it magically transported from the strike zone to my thigh.

my best guess is that the home plate ump said you went around on your swing (he doesn't have to appeal to the 1st or 3rd base ump). To illustrate the beanstrike: When I was a kid playing baseball, one of the other kids on my team got beaned 3 pitches in a row. Problem was, he swung at ALL THREE! (let just say he wasn't the best player on our team) The home plate ump, fearing injury, actually came to our coach and told him to tell our batter not to swing for the rest of the at-bat. Sure enough, 3 pitches later, the kid was beaned again and awarded 1st base. So, I guess that's why that rule is engrained (sp?) in my brain. oh, and i love baseball.

I guess now I know. Excuse me buddy, but if a speeding ball was heading towards my head, I doubt I'll be able to just take it and be mindful "gee.. let me make sure my bat doesn't swing forward".
