ps2 - games wont connect?

i seen someone post some advice on xbox on how to get games to work online... anyone got any advice on the ps2? im sure its something to do with the router being hooked up, but ive unhooked the router and then it still didnt connect?? i mean i can connect if someone challenges me but i cant connect when i challenge...

I wrote to 2k tech support and they told me to dissengage routers and firewalls easy way to do it is run modem straight to your ps2, if that doesnt work it could be the guy u are trying to play against or u just dont have a good connection with the person u r trying to play against i am not saying i know everything but this is what 2ksports told me, so i hope it helps anyone that is having problems

i did everything you said to do and i can only play people when i go to quick game
when i go in to the lobbys evryone is red and im green. 2k dosnt seem to have an answer for me so if anybody has an answer for me plz help me>
