View Full Version : Other problems that need to be patched...

I am speaking about things other than the freezing of course.
There are blatent errors with this game that could easily be patched. I would like to compile a list of things that ruin the gameplay and could easily be patched. I would just like to have a big list of everything they got wrong and then see which could be fixed in a patch and which will have to wait till next year.
I will start with a couple of obvious things:
1. Player fatigue is broken (fatigue seems to be 1 day delayed or something. To test this, look at your team's fatigue levels before a day off, then look at them after the day off) (also players will not fatigue at all if settings are loaded in franchise mode)
2. Franchise mode player progression is broken (to test this just sim 5 years of franchise, you will see that the young players never improve very much and the league leaders become very unrealistic)
3. All players have too much arm strength (reported by several people)
4. Outfielders just stading there when a ball is hit to the outfield (even the outfielder that is not closest to the ball should at least make an effort to back up the play or something)
5. Balls in the outfield that the players can't pick up (reported by one person and it has happened to me twice already, once online and once offline)
6. Numerous statistical errors (stats being credited to another player, etc.) (We might need to figure out what exactly is happening with the stats before it could be fixed)
7. AI is very poor at executing bunts
I know there are other things like the announcers always saying "he had no homeruns last year, and no RBIs" or the various uniform errors (the Boston away jersey being the most blatent example). But these things don't really affect gameplay so I am not as interested in fixing them (although it would be nice). Examples of these types of problems are:
(a) Uniforms
(b) Announcers always say "no homeruns, no RBIs"
Anyways please add any other bugs, or post if you want to show your support for a second patch.

Walls punching people out for the count
Balls that rest on the wall not being able to pick up. (only happened once to me so far)
Arms are crazt from the warning track in dead center (you mentioned, but deserves repeating)
Drop the argue calls nonsense. I get tossed for tappin the button 1 time but CPU gets +6 everytime

LMAO..so true.
- The amazing arms
- The terrible bunting by the AI (the ones on and off your team)
- The fatigue issues (hitter fatigue turned off when settings are loaded, slow fatigue recovery even with days off)
- Uniforms
They do these, they are off the hook in my book.
Great Poetry.

Dron - Is there not some way to turn off the arguing of calls, or to turn down your manager's temper or something like that?
I'll include the glitch where the fielders can't pick up the ball in the outfield because it happened to me twice as well. I don't really know what you mean by punching people out for the count though...

I also had a glitch yesterday , At Anaheim Stadium, where a ground rule double WASNT called and the guy got a "inside the park" homer. That would need to be fixed , if possible. But I still love the game.

The arms are listed already.
What do mean by terrible bunting?
Fatigue issues I have listed, and updated to include the specific problem you mention
Uniforms are a problem, I agree. But not with regards to gameplay.

Maybe I missed a setting change but....If you go to steal a bag (manually with the camera on the runner) more often then not, the AI guy at the plate (who you told to bunt) will pop out and sometimes you'll get busted on the basepaths too. When the AI (as the other Team) bunts, they usually miss the ball in my game. They do bunt sometimes successfully.
And where is the fatigue "issue" regarding loading <settings/sliders>? Am I blind..I very well could be.
EDIT: Ok I see them now.

The ai does seem bad at bunting. Can this be fixed with sliders?
Also, if you are trying to steal while bunting there should be a pretty high risk of popping out and getting the runner doubled up. I'm not sure if this is a bug. Mabye I'm missing something.

I get doubled up/AI pops out at least 85-90% of the time. I dont know if thats realistic or not. Someone can help with that.
I use Blitz's and Joe's sliders and the bunting doesnt change for the other team. They still suck at it. I can't pick out a slider that drastically affects that problem either. I suppose I could update ALL the player ratings (because their is a <bunt> rating)...but thats foolish.

Bunts to get popped up some times, but a lot less frequent that in this game. A guy will either foul it off, miss it or execute it properly the majority of the time. And the fact your runner is stealing should have no effect on the frequency of this happening.
**I've heard a lot about and witnessed once my self a HR glitch where the ball is not a HR, but the bases are cleared, I get credit for the HR and RBI, but my hitter is still at the plate.
**A lot of statistical errors. I get no credit for SB's with one guy, but get SB credits for another player who has yet to steal a base. In my season, I'm in my 3rd week. Barry Zito has pitched 4 games. He should be 2-1 with 1 no decision, but the game has him 2-2 and shows that he has pitched in 6 games. I have not used him in the bullpen this year.

Have you tried raising or lowering the bunt slider?
Also, why would you be stealing while bunting? I would think this would be a pretty rare play. Why risk getting thrown out if you are trying to bunt?

The bunt slider I have had to 100. Maybe it effects frequency though.
(and)
Well I have to start going a second or two after the ball has hit the AI players bat. Now I seem to judge more correctly but ,in the meantime, I find myself (AT LEAST 85% of the time) having to retreat to the original base cause the idiot AI couldn't execute. (pop out to pitcher)
Its not huge as I could just bunt it myself but then the "slow responding" baserunning and "overprogrammed" arm issues come into play. *And frankly I have yet to figure out how to bunt with the swing stick. Maybe this is smaller then I realize but it still sucks.

To bunt with the swing stick you hold up on the right stick and then use the triggers and the left stick to aim the bunt.
I guess it could be the case though that the ai is just not good enough at bunting. I will list it.

Ha! Patched... don't hold your breath. Many of these and other similar problems were in 2K5. People -- including me -- posted thread after thread about the issues. And we talked about how 2K needed to patch the game. Yet they show up in 2K6, AGAIN, on top of all the new issues.
This spring before 2K6 was released, people -- including me -- start bringing up all the issues that were in 2K5... and what happens? We get bad-mouthed by the fanboys here. Well boys, you got your game... your glitchy, buggy, horribly programmed, messed up game.
And it's that way because 2K DOESN'T CARE. In other words, don't waste your time with threads like these. Just something I learned last year ;)

Well 2k has in the past released patches to fix gameplay and balance issues in previous sports games. I agree it is a longshot and I know that most of these errors have been in the game for several years now. Just look at NHL2k where the game has been freezing and unplayable for lots of people for at least 3 yaers now.
And now they have moved this thread to a forum that is not read as much. So it is pretty obvious they are not going to fix the game. But stranger things have happened. I just wonder how long it would take to program a patch that did something very simple like fix arm strength. Can 2k really justify not fixing this game considering it has already been a disaster and they need to sell this exclusive licence for another 7 years?
