I was in urgones league and beat him and he complained that i threw to many balls. What kind of **** is that, after i seen that he was going to swing at everything i threw heck ya i started throwing out of the zone an making him look silly, he threw a lot of balls to and NEVER said anything about being an all strikes league. What is your guys opinion about too many balls if there is such a thing, balls are a part of the game so dont swing at them, it was also a draft league so with these jacked up lineups he expects only 25 percent balls know what kind of **** is that all strikes are for the ones who CANT HIT and have no plate dicipline at all so if this was little league you should have told us before this league even started!!!! So I want to hear opinions about balls and strikes!!!

If you want to play tee ball, then don't play online. I get sick and tired of peoples **** about balls and strikes. If you suck too bad to be patient enough to wait for a pitch to drive, then don't play.

Yep to be honest, I think everyone that is all enamored with swing stick doesn't realize that it's much harder to hold off of pitches with swing stick vs. classic... I like classic mode because you can be more patient without flipping out and swinging every time as soon as the ball is released. Especially online where lag is a factor. Classic + batter's eye + pitcher actually throwing balls mixed in with strikes = fun

Sorry I could not be as macho as you ... good luck with the tough guys who use swing stick but want you to throw strikes all the time!

I've seen this as long as there has been online baseball. I don't get it. It's like saying "Only 25% Touchdowns" in a football game, the rest of the time you have to kick a FG. It's so ridiculous I don't even know how to argue it other than coming up with a comparison to another sport. What a crock. If you can't do it, don't play. Now lets go play some Ghost Recon, but you can only shoot me 4 times per session. GEEZ! Remember when you played backyard baseball as a kid and some nimrod would come up with the rule where if you hit a homerun your OUT? Must be the same guys.

ryan 777, he did the same thing to me. i beating him fair and square and during the game he complained to the league commish that i was thrwoing too many balls. too make matters worse, he dropped in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs, claimed that his system froze and i was forced to give up a quality win. this dude is a whinner and a cheater, stay away from this dude.
this is why i am now playing the show.

Classic swing is for toddlers, you don't have to swing at balls. Balls are OK, watch ESPN and see how many pitches are in the dirt, especially with 0-2.

Swing Stick to me is just an added hassle, and it seems to me that all of the people complaining about balls and strikes are using it, the reason is that at least on fastballs and hard sliders you need to swing as soon as it is released, leaving you no time to adjust if it is a ball, hence all the "you throw too many balls" whining. It also seems that check swings are mighty difficult with it.
Classic is about timing and guessing the pitch location, which is what baseball is about as well. Swing Stick can work sure, but just because something is new, does not make it better. Afterall this game is new, and I can name a few better older ones. (Thanks EA for losing the baseball title.)
For me, well, I've been playing basebqall games since the NES and SEGA Master System (Great Baseball on the SMS is still my favorite of all time, and Montreal's Knuckleballer was the best) And no I did not buy them in college as some sort of kitchy thing, I mean I remember when you were a loser if you didn't get one for x-mas. (Luckily parents divorced = I got both) So Im used to the classic, it's a preference, doesn't make me better or worse. Just adjust it back in the game when you are hitting.
I would like it explained though what makes classic "for toddlers" as stated above. I'm getting kinda old, so maybe it should read "for senile folk"
But back to the Original post topic. Some guy named Jake something (there were numbers after Jake) complained that I was "lame" because I threw too many balls. And that he was throwing strikes to me. Which was not true (afterall, it is only a ball if the batter doesn't swing) So i got on the mic and responded that I was pitching with Pedro, just like Pedro does. Nibbling at the corners and changing speeds. He said, "well i can throw all balls too then" 4 walks and an ejected Cases Fossum later, he shut up, probably fuming mad. It is simple baseball fellas. If you think it's a ball, don't swing.
I really just loved his comment, and this is an actual quote here "Real pitchers don't throw balls on purpose". I asked him if he'd ever heard an announcer say a pitcher got a guy to chase one. He said yes, I asked him what he thought that meant. Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux are two of the best control pitchers we will ever see, they didn't have Gooden or Johnson's 100 mph guns, so they out thought hitters. Played with them. Pitches that look like strikes out of the hand may end up way out of the zone. Are they lame for throwing pitches you might swing at even though they are nearly impossible to hit?
Personally I think it is more lame when people pick Tampa Bay just to use Fossums Eephus pitch. Still, I love rocking that pitch (when I'm not looking like a fool swinging at it.)
Why is it lame? Well, are you really a Tampa Fan? Because I've met all 9 of them down here in florida, and they told me if they ever find a tenth, they can get a discount on group tickets to Busch Gardens. Give them a call.
And yes I'm a Mets fan, was at game 6 in '86 (look it up if ya dont know) and no, I will never play as another team on this or any game.
P.S. Don't refer to baseball players as "Ballers" please. Baseball and Hockey are the last two bastions of non ghetto athletic atmosphere. Announcers are all intelligent, history matters, there is respect for the game, and those who made it what it is. Call them athletes, call them ballplayers, fielders, pitchers and hitters. But keep the Bronx garbage outside of Yankee Stadium. Or just flood the stadium with roaches. What? They are better than typical yankee fans, give me an etch-a-sketch and 3 minutes and I'll prove it.
Meet The Mets! Meet The Mets! Head to the park and Greet The Mets! Hot Dogs, Green Grass all out at Shea, Guaranteed to have a heck of a day!

I kinda like when my opponent uses classic, I still use the stick mode and it's that much more gradifying to whoop on them. :)

ghetto athletic atmosphere???? implying what??? homeboy you need to check yourself. MLB is filled with culutre. you my friend obviously have missed that. ANd you say your a METS fan??? How many ghetto athletes play for the METS??? Since thats the wording you want to use. The METS could field an all caribbean team if they wanted too. When the batters step up tot he plate, what type of music do you hear?? It sure aint country and western. Most of your post was insightful but then you messed it up with that comment.
If all you wanna do is see no-color in sports i suggest you stick to the ice. no color there. even the playing field is white. i bet that just makes you feel great doesnt it.
