Has anybody else experenced freezing with the harddrive off? My copy has worked for 3 dyas with the HD off and now two games in a row the game made a strange noise and froze old school nintendo style with lines on the screen.

Is your 360, well ventilated? Sounds like overheating could be the cause.

try blowing into the disc like the nintendo cartridges. just kidding. give the thing room to breathe. and also make sure the power brick has room to breathe

To be honest, I don't think having it vertical or horizontal, should make a difference, but just make sure it's not on a carpet or something soft, which will block the air vents.

Heat is the #1 public enemy, for all electronics hardware. Especially for a system such as the 360, with all that firepower under the hood.

Mine is placed on top of my orginal x-box and the box thing is behind my cabinet on the carpet, is that an issue?

Is your room well ventilated? Is it always hot or do you have AC?

make sure the obnoxious power supply brick can breathe. it has vents on both sides.

so i tried fight night round 3 and the same problem just occured, I then called x-box support and their sending me a box so i can ship it to them because i am experencing (hardware problems). This whole situation seems fishey to me and it seems like this game has now broken my 360.

You;ve just experience hardware failure, most likely video problems. I HIGHLY doubt it was MLB 2K6's fault.

Why exactly would this occur, I've only had this system for like 3 months, and I had a ps2 for 3 years that worked fine and a reg x-box for like 1 1/2 and never had any issues.

did you happen to move system while disc was in it? on or off that causes severe damage

i doubt the game did it but what i suggest is you take the baseball game out and look for a ring around the disc. i have heard of the grinding noise and then dic scratches

one more idea..if you have a memory card tranfer your stuff to that then re-format HDD..then put stuff back on HDD

Do you have one of the initial 360's? There seems to be a problem with the first batch of 360's released. That is why MS is exchanging them without asking many questions.

Wow... consider yourself lucky in the PS2 department... many of the people who I know (myself included) that have had a PS2 over the years have had nothing but problems with it breaking down.

Might I suggest you purchase a lottery ticket? ;)

Just yesterday I ran into this same problem. I've had MLB 2k6 since it came out and did not experience the freeze problems. Then after playing MLB 2k6 for several days I went and played another game last night. It just blacked out with the green ring of light still going. I turned off the 360 and put mlb 2k6 in. It played for 2 outs and froze, this time I got the old school nintendo lines with some buzzing. Still the green light was going. Got back from work today and had the freeze issue again. I'm seriously hoping it's got something to do with MLB 2k6 since that ridiculous 90 day warranty expired about 20 days ago. My 360 has always been well ventilated as well as the power brick. I did notice that the 360 site has a post from the beginning of this month for trouble shooting a freeze problem. My spidey sense says that I'm screwed.

Best investment that I made for my 360 was purchasing an intercooler (Nyko brand) from EB Games... three additional fan vents for only $19.99...

A cool 360 is a happy 360... :D
