This just in are faithful Highlanders have hired there new coach. We have not gotten any information about who they have hired. We should get it after this break.
The Highlanders have just annouced that Patrick Meredith will be there new head coach. I dont know what they where thinking because I have never heard of this guy. All they have told us is that he is right out of college and they interviewed him and they liked him.
Coach Meredith said he is very pleased to be the head coach at RU and that he hopes to get the Highlanders winning again. One of us asked him who would be a challenge this year and right off the bat he said Liberty. He then said I will get back with you tommorrow about who else will be a challenge and what the starting lineup will be.
So now we will have to wait some more for who they will play and what the lineup will be. This is channel 12 news saying good night and go Highlanders.

Today coach Meredith came out with the starting lineup for our hometown Radford Highlanders
(these really arent the real names so im sorry to all those radford fans.)
The Starters are:
Deantoine Walker-PG-6'1" Good offensive player and likes to shoot. He likes to go inside and score and try and draw a foul. He is also quick. He is also not selfish the only downside he gets to emotional and fouls a lot
Charlie Morgan- SG-6'3" Likes medium shots and likes to dunk it every time he goes into the lane. Not a great defender cant block well and doesnt have good handles.
Wallace King- SF-6'6" He likes inside shots and is an inside player. He can dunk and is a good defender. Not a great shooter from med range and 3 point land. He doesnt have good stamina
Avery Davenport- PF-6'6" Good inside player. He is a really good defensive player and he likes games that are close. Downside to him is that he is slow and is not really a good shooter.
Billy Straight- C-6'9" Good inside player and likes defense. He really isnt an offensive player and cant shoot that well. He is also slow and fatigues quick
Good players on the bench consist of Rick Finley-SF,SG-6'5" awesome three point shooter. Jimmy Montgomery-C-7'0" great blocker and defender.
The coach really thinks he can do real well with his starting lineup and has two good bench players that can help out.
Coach Meredith also gave us his schedule and here it is.

Coach Happy About Highlanders
I talked with coach Meredith today and he said he never even thought about doing this good in the season he planned on building the team up to glory and he thought it would take at least four to five years but know he has changed his mind and said it should take him two to three years if he stays. I asked which players are helping you win and he said Walker with his offensive skills and his desire to win and Montgomery with his defense and his leadership role.
The coach said after Montgomerys perfomace he is going to start him and put Straight down to power foward and take Davenport out because he hasnt shown the potential of a starter and once he does he will consider starting him. So next Highlander game dont think it is a suprise to you that Montgomery is starting instead of Davenport.
I also talked to him after the Clemson game and asked him why he was getting so mad and he sai " Our team doesnt think right when it is a close game the get hyped up and start fouling and if it wasnt for Walkers six threes and 42 points I dont think we would have won. So next game you will see a smarter Radford team and you wont see as many fouls.
The next Radford game is against Winthrop and that should be a good match up so dont miss it will be televised on this station tv 14. This is Randy Knight and go Radford

Rock Hill- Today the Radford Highlanders came out ready for there first confrence game. Coach Meredith said before the game, "We have a great team and I really belive that we can win the rest of our games. All we have to do is stay focused and play Highlander basketball."
What Coach Meredith said was true. He calmed his team down when the Eagles were ahead and he let them shoot as many threes as they wanted and you could tell 10 for 32 behind the arc. That is one reason why they won. At halftime it was 44-41 Highlander lead. Coach gave them something that fired them up because they came out firing on all cylnders and once they got a big lead they never looked back.
Helping the Highlanders to there major victory was a lot of players including the Highlander of the game Deantoine Walker going 12-12 with 27 points, 4 assists, and 3 three pointers. Another person is Charlie Morgan with 25 points and 5 three balls. Also, Wallace King with 11 points and 3 steals and last but not least Rick Finley with 10 points and 1 three pointer. Sitting Avery Davenport on the bench most have fired him up with 7 rebounds with 6 of them being offensive and with 0 fouls playing 8 minutes
The Eagles outstanding player is Kory Maxwell with 4 treys with 29 points.
After this win the Highlanders are first in there divison and with 1 win and 8 and 1 overall and close behind is the Highlanders major confrence oppent Liberty with 3 confrence wins and 6-3 overall.
Next game Saturday Jan. 10 at home

Everyone that wears Highlander gear gets a free large drink with refills and any choice of food. Also after the game the team is going to sign autographs so make sure you get down there quick enough because they are only going to be out there for 45 minutes so make sure you come to this game.

We have just found out that Coach Meredith has sent in an application for Liberty. We do not know when he sent it in but we know that is where he wanted to coach before he came here but they wouldnt hire him because he was so young he has not gotten a letter back from them but we hope he doesnt go if he gets the job because he has done so much for the Highlander basketball progam. We want him to stay here and get us into the NCAA tournament and get us to the sweet sixteen or better. So if your reading this Coach Meredith dont go.

Just some advice, to get the same size team pics go to ESPN.com and type in the name of the school in the search bar and you will get some nice logos(all the same size with no background too.)
Otherwise good start man.

Today Radford came out and never looked back. UNCA never was leading in the game. This score is mostly by the way the Highlanders shot the three ball with 15 threes and 39 field goals. The Highlanders had 44 rebounds and 10 of them belong to the Highlander of the game Billy Straight he also had 6 points but the thing that pops out the most is his defensive stats.
Other contributers to the game for the Highlanders are Deantoine Walker with 27 points and 5 three pointers. Also Charlie Morgan with 18 points 1 block and 5 three pointers. Jimmy Montgomery helped out on defense with 2 blocks and 8 rebounds. He also had 8 points.
Now the Highlander bench was up to the task to keep the game out of reach and they sure did it. With Rick Finley scoring 14 points and 4 three pointers and Russell Morgan with 5 points and 1 of them being a three and he had 3 rebounds.
After the game I talked to coach Meredith about the application to Liberty and he said I might go I might not it just depends on how far this team goes and if they go far I might stick around for a couple more years and try and get us a national championship.
The Highlanders next game is against High Point away on Jan. 17

Hey great legacy so far. I've been reading several of the legacies on here and while they're all great, yours is my favorite. I started my legacy at Radford also. I spent 4 seasons there and now I'm in my 1st year with Georgia. Anyway, it'll be great seeing how somebody else does with my Highlanders. Can't wait to read more

HIGHLANDERS DO IT AGAIN
It wasnt one of the Highlanders best games but its a win. The Highlanders were never behind the whole game but it was tied up at the very beginnig.
I asked Coach Meredith what was wrong with his team tonight and he said, " We didnt the share the ball enough and we didnt shoot as well as the rest of the games. One other reason is that they thought they could just come out and beat everyone and hopefully that got taught a lesson and trust me they will not shoot this bad or think they are the best until they have defender there National Championships and yes that is a plural Championship."
The people who helped the Highlanders win this game was the Highlander of the game Charlie Morgan with 24 points, 2 rebounds, 4 three pointers, and perfect from the the foul line. Other contributers are Deantoine Walker with 15 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assits, and 1 three pointer. Also Jimmy Montgomery helped out a ton on the defensive end with 10 boards, 6 points, and 1 block.
The Highlander bench really didnt live up to what they really are tonight with just 26 bench points. The Highlander offense really didnt get anything going tonight.
Our next game will be against Birmingham South and its at home

Stuart Scott-Finally the Radford Highlanders are gettin some love in the RPI ratings being ranked 28 with there outstanding record of 10-1. Even though the ESPN poll doesnt give them any love witch I think they should and also the Press poll didnt give them any love. Dont worry Radford fans you will be in the top 25 if you keep playing like this. They are even higher than North Carolina in the RPI ratings can you belive it the Tar Heels are lower than the Higlanders. So go out and win you Highlanders so you can be on ESPN more often. This is Suart Scott saying peace.

(I didnt post the rest of the games because I am in a new year and I simulated all of them the rest I played on 1 min because I wanted to get to the NCAA tournament)
The Highlanders had a huge loss to the Okalhoma Sooners. They stuck with them for the first quarter and then they just fell apart. After the Sooners beat are Highlanders they went on to win the Tournament. I asked Coach Meredith if he thought he could win the game and he said yeah we just needed to stay focused and we would have one it and we have a great team if we would stay focused we could beat anyone. I also asked Coach Meredith if he was going to go anywhere if he got any offers he said it just depends on the team and what type of program they are. So we will see if Coach Meredith will leave or stay we just hope he stays.

Coach Meredith is staying for a second year. After a great season he decided that this is a program that has places it can go and that he didnt get any offers. He signed a three star shooting guard Henry Henning who is a great shooter and defender. He also signed a Point guard Blake Myers he is a defensive guard and is really not an offensive player so Coach Meredith redshirted him because he felt he needed to work on his skills. He also redshirted another freshmen Power Forward Rashod Williams. Meredith said he really didnt feel like Rashod had the talent yet to play college ball. He has also released his starting lineup and they are:
Deantoine Walker- Jr. PG
Henry Henning- Fr. SG
Wallace King- Sr. SF
Avery Davenport- Sr. PF
Billy Straight- Sr. C
and also his bench who he thinks will help out alot
Charlie Morgans- Sr. Guard
Jimmy Montgomery- Jr. C
Russel Morgan- Jr. Guard
He will come out with the schedule soon he said.
