Well here it is :). I love the Mariners, always have cause I live in Spokane. What do all you Mariner fans think they need to get to the top.

Now they do play in a very tough division, probably the best in the league with 3 or more competive teams. I think the main thing they need is good pitching from Freddy Garcia, and he needs to be consistent rather then having big hot and cold streaks.

Also they need that big hitter, which they dont really have but hopefully the pick ups of Aurilia, and Spiezio, and Ibanez will cover that. Well I will keep you Mariner fans updated with how they do each game starting Monday!

About time we got a thread, I live three hours south of Seattle in Portland, but I go to 35-40 games a year...

The M's pitching is fine, the staff is top five (behind A's, Cubs, Astros and Sox), their bullpen is the best in the MLB. The only thing we lack is hitting, but we traded for it this offseason. Ibanez will do alright (25 HR, 100 RBI) and Spiezio/Aurilia are decent. But with the best leadoff hitter, DH and 2B in the game right now we should take the West...

Ya I also hope the Mariners will thrive being the underdog. Just recieved SI last night and they are predicted third behind the Angels and A's.

The one thing they need to do is play well late, which they havent done the last two years. If they do that they will win the division.

Man I just hope Ichiro doesnt get "tired" in the second half of the season lol, along with the rest of the Mariners squad. I honestly believe they can beat the no hitting A's and the no pitching but think they got good pitching Angels if they play good down the stretch.

OPENING DAY IS TOMORROW FOR THE M's!

April 6th, 2004, 04:44 AM
I can't wait for this Game, I'm glad to see in the first game the M's will get to play the best in the west. Bartolo Colon, Ichiro is about to show you how it's done fo sho.

Damnit, Mariners lost this game bad guys. 10-5 was final score. The Mariners just got to far behind to soon. It was 10-1 at one point.

Aurilia had a REALLY tough opener. Making two errors in the first 3 innings. Ibanez had a double.

Glaus had two home runs off Moyer. Not a good season openor for him either, hopefully they will win tomorrow.

Lakers4life714
April 9th, 2004, 04:31 PM
Damn Mariners off to a horrible start. Boone and Garcia are about the only Mariners to have decent starts.

Mariners lost game two of the series 10-7 (0-2)

Mariners lost game three of the seres 5-1 (0-3)

Damn they got sweeped, Angels do have a good team though, Garcia must be ****ed, Angels scorin 5 runs in the Top of the 9th of Shigi. Hopefully they can get their first win against the A's.

Lakers4life714
April 10th, 2004, 11:18 PM
Jesus crist things are not lookin good for the M's. They have had the lead in both the games against the A's and blown them both. They have the worst record in the league, and Harold Reyonlds put them as one of his 3 downs

Game 4: Mariners lose to A's (0-4)

Lakers4life714
April 12th, 2004, 06:12 PM
Well Mariners said it all, they finally won one! Ya they are in Anahiem too. They just need to pitch, and not wait tell the 40th inning to start and hit. They also need to get a little more power. Boone has the teams ONLY two homers this season so far, eeck. Jamie Moyer hasnt really been impressive yet either.

Game 6: Mariners win their first game 9-5 (1-5)

Sorry about that Mariners, wouldnt wanna up the ERA haha. Well I am in a good mood, because the Mariners just moved one game higher in the standings, they are now only 72 games back :?. Well they avoided the sweep thats a good thing, I was scared for a second when Kennedy hit that one in the second, I thought oh no not again. But the Mariners turned it aroudn and won it!

Game 9: Mariners over Angels in Game 3 6-2 (2-7)

I just got back from the game and it wasnt pretty :(

Yes Mariners have first winning streak of 2004!! And win first series of the year!.

Game 12: Mariners over Texas 4-2 (4-8)

It was a good win and a good series for the M's (Except for game one) but now the real challenge starts against the A's pitching...

Game One: Mark Redman, M's should win
Game Two: Rich Harden, M's should win
Game Three: Tim Hudson, :(
Game Four: Mark Mulder, :(

Bob Melvin said, "There are 16 10-game increments, it was probable we'd go 2-8 at some point, but those 10 are behind us now.''

Since he said that the M's are 2-0, we just have to wait and see...

Lakers4life714
April 19th, 2004, 08:45 PM
Ya man Garcia is throwin a gem right now, hopefully the bullpen can pull it out for him. Hasegawas warmin up now, I traded him in my MVP dynasty, man was he suckin hehe. Damnit Scott just made an error as we speak with no outs. Oh well go get em M's!

Mariners in 2006
April 19th, 2004, 10:18 PM
Its 1-1 in the Bottom of the 10th right now and Edgar just got intentionally walked...The game should have been 1-0 M's win, but some ******* M's fan grabbed Dye's home run right as Ichiro was about to rob him...So Eddie gets the blown save

What a win last night...I stayed up until Midnight watching that nail bitter...In the 14th the M's win on a "Walk-Off Balk" I love it :D

Tonight: Harden vs Franklin, hopefully we can beat them in 9 this time...

Lakers4life714
April 20th, 2004, 09:04 PM
Haha I know that was awesome, I was up to and I was like wtf what way to end a game haha, even though it was a balk. They are tied right now in the 7th.

Mariners in 2006
April 20th, 2004, 09:36 PM
I Love RAUL!!! :D

Not only did he hit the tying Home Run in the 7th, but he hit the game winning Home Run in the 9th! 4 HOMERS IN 3 GAMES!!! The M's are starting to erupt, just 2 games out of first!!!

Lakers4life714
April 21st, 2004, 07:05 PM
Haha no kidding, they are comin through, just a bad start.

Thank god for the pitching though their hitting is doing well, ok i guess.

Mariners are now 6-8 (I beleive to lazy to look)

Mariners in 2006
April 21st, 2004, 10:30 PM
Well so much for the M's four game win streak, Dye killed them in the 9th and Rhodes (that trader!) shut down the M's to seal the win for the A's...

Standings as of 4/21/04
A's 9-6
Rangers 8-7
Angels 7-8
Mariners 6-9
(What a tough division  )

Anyways hopefully the M's can win tomorrow, 3 out of 4 against Oakland would be nice...But Mulder is pitching...

Lakers4life714
April 23rd, 2004, 04:52 PM

April 25th, 2004, 12:18 AM
M's lose again 3-0 and are 6-12 on the year...

The A's, Rangers and Angels are all tied at the top of the Division at 10-8 while the M's are only 4 games back...The REALLY need to WIN tomorrow in Texas, its getting worse not better...

April 30th, 2004, 11:10 AM
With the loss yesterday Seattle is the worst team in the American League...

Why, I dont know...Could it be their hitting? (Yes) Could it be their pitching? (Yes)

The M's are HOT in May and so is ichiro their back baby, and Kicking Yankee Butt, I love it. Ichiro has a 7 game hitting streak. and yankee-killer Edger martinez, hit the 500th double of his career, much love to Mr. Mariner.

What a game, the M's beat the Yanks 6-2 without Boone in the lineup

The M's have won 5 of their last 7 and hopefully it will continue, tomorrow I am going to the game, I am sitting nine rows up behind third base, right behind A-rod, it will be my fifth game this year 8)

Hopefully it isnt like the last one I went too, I went last Tuesday when they beat the Twins 4-3 in 16 innings, the game wasnt over until midnight, but at least I got my Ichrio Choo-Choo...

All right first off how is spiezio doing. The Angels no pitching. I think their piching better then the M's. Angels have the best bullpen in the Majors then maybe seattle. To be honest I see the al west finishing:

Angels
Rangers
A's
M's

I hope I'm Wrong I would love to Seattle take the Wild card under my Angels. Good Luck with the M's Their just Old.

The Mariners pitching is second best in the AL West, they are just not showing it. The A's pitching is great, M's good, Angels decent, Rangers garbage, I know that doesnt seem that way (just look at the standings) but there are 162 games in a season and 35 have been played...

The Mariners problem is SPEED and CONSISTENCY
Last year they had Cameron, Ichiro, Winn and Guillen in the lineup, all quick, this season our fastest four are Ichiro, Winn, Ibanez and Boone, not fast. The M's have Olerud, Edgar and Spiezio who all only get singles on hits to the wall. With Ichiro/Winn at the 1-2 spot in the lineup in 2003 and Cameron/Guillen at the 6-7 spot the M's would produce. Also, the M's pitching is sucking it up, a great group of guys are not settling down and getting the outs, even the bullpen (#1 in MLB in 2003) is changed for the worst, with Nelson, Rhodes and Bentiez gone and Soriano on the DL the M's have to go with Villone, Taylor, Myers and Hasegawa, not good. We have an awesome closer but lose the lead or cant get enough runs to use him. The M's need speed, bullpen help and good outings from their staff to get back on track.

My 2004 AL West Outlook
Anahiem 95-105 wins
Texas 80-90 wins
Seattle 80-90 wins
Oakland 70-80 wins

Ghost_X_51
May 16th, 2004, 08:02 AM
that was great to see the M's beat the yankees again, and Ichiro, has his Hitting strike up to 14 Games now. but lets face it the M's need some bats really really bad, we need to make a move before the All star break. are pitching staff, will come around, we just need some hitting. I think that Seattle, should try to get Carlos Beltran, and move winn and some rookie pitching, to get him, because we all know that Kansas City, need's to do something it's geting real bad over there.

Yeah the M's have been talking to KC...

Also there is a trade rumor in the air, KC gets Freddy Garcia, Boston gets Beltran and Seattle gets Damon.

Anyways, even though the M's lost a heartbreaker to the Yankees 2-1 today, Ichiro extended his hitting streak to 15 games...

Lakers4life714

Stupid trade for the M's, I hope they dont do that.

Garcia was leading the league in ERA and is also has the least run support in the league. All Damon is is another santa clause. They dont need that trade, very stupid.

this season hurt's I am already waiting for the NEXT. only thing good about this year is Ichiro, and if he can get 200 hits four years in a roll.

This season does hurt, but in a way I expected it, just not this bad...

The Mariners needed to bring over Tejada, Guerrero or Pudge, but instead they got rid of Cameron, lost Sasaki and traded off young gun Guillen. I really dislike the Mariners management. Anyways, the bullpen blew a 2-1 lead in the 8th inning tonight after Pinerio pitched 7 strong innings

Next season I think it will be worse, Edgar already said he will retire, and after this season I am sure Moyer will follow. Plus Olerud is a free agent after this year and the M's dont want him in the future. Rich Aurilia has a one year contract, so if he gets cut we will be in the same boat as last year. Garcia is said to be going elsewhere before the deadline, Spiezio is talking with the Angels and Bret Boone is always hurt. And I haven't even started talking about the Bullpen.

The only consistent player on the M's right now is Ichiro, I really hope the M's get it together or who knows what will happen to this team, I am a M's fan and always will be, even during the bad times. Just look as this as a rebuilding year...

Ghost_X_51
May 22nd, 2004, 10:30 PM
we just need some new players that's all, some good power to complement Ichiro. if we had some power hitters Ichiro's hits wouldn't go to waste like they do now, we need new life on this team and we need it now. P.S don't forget Rafael Soriano, is on the DL if he was playing mabey we wouldn't blow 2-1 leads in the 8th da Mn IT.

Right Field Tics = Ticketmaster
I usually goto 15-25 games a year

I got tickets for Sunday's game against San Diego
Also tickets for Sunday July 25th against the Angels

By the way with Oakland losing their 3rd straight tonight Seattle is only 8 back of first, hopefully they sweep Texas...

He hit his second homer in three games today, this guy is going to be good, for the last two games he has been starting over Edgar Martinez. A month ago while he played for Seattle's AAA team he hit a home run in eight straight games, also two days ago he won the AAA Home Run Derby for the thrid time. He averages a Home Run every 4 At-bats and I cant wait to see him Sunday when I goto Safeco to watch the M's play Anaheim...

http://www.buckybackers.com/index.html yep seattle has found their next star, in BJ, not only can this guy just smash the ball, he has a good eye and gets great batter counts. this is the best thing about this season for the mariners... are one bright spot in a very long season, besides Ichiro :D it would have been three HR's in a roll if that monster shot didn't go foul.

Wow that game was awesome.

AND i got a ball..

1-1 then Varitek hits a 3 run homer and alot of fans leave. Get one run in the bottom of 8... and then olivio and edgar hit solo shots off foulke to tie it up.

Boone walk off grand slam off Lesanick in the bottom of 11.

That was a awesome game. Beautiful stadium. As for my tickets like a section over to the right from the right field foul pole

Those arent bad seats. I usually sit in Right Field. How did you get a ball? During batting practice? If so I have gotten 14 balls during batting practice in the last three years, I got a bucket of them in my garage. Sunday I am going to see the Angels, I am sitting five rows up from the field, a little to the left of home plate. Heres the view...

Well I was at Safeco today to see the M's 6-2 win. Great pitching by Pineiro, Ichiro got a hit to extend his streak to 17-games, Bucky had another homer, and Bengie Molina lost his bat and it landed 5 rows behind me  , overall good game. Guerrero didnt play which sucked though...

Why didn't Vlade play? Was he hurt or were they just giving him the day off?

In Friday's game he got hit in the wrist with a pitch from the M's pitcher, he missed Saturday and Sunday's game, but was expected to return tonight, which he didnt.
After missing two straight games with a bruised wrist, right fielder Vladimir Guerrero is expected to return on Monday against the first-place Rangers, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Damn, I am not a Angels fan but I really enjoys watching Vlade play. I find him to be one of the best sucess stories of the MLB, I heard that during the Expos tryouts he came riding up on the back of a moped, two different shoes on, and torn up clothing, now he is a multi millionair. Plus he is a amazing ball player with one of the best arms in the league, and when he hits a homerun it is usually crushed. Come back soon Vlade!

Sorry to get off topic.

Ichiro Ichiro Ichiro, this guy really does have a magic wand, I have never seen him with such confidence at the plate, he look's like he is on a deferent level than every body else playing right now. this is one of his best month's ever batting .444 AVG in the month of july, with his first 5 hit game... and a chance at 50 hits this month making him the first player in MLB history to do this three times in their career. it's like the league is throwing BP pitchs to IChi right now, he is simply off the chain. oh yea and think god the M's got their first road win in 15 straight road games :(

Yeah I am glad the M's finally won on the road, it took 13 innings, but at least they did it :D . As for Ichiro, he is on a tear, he has 153 hits, 47 away from 200!

oh yea I bet you thought Ichiro, was done after the monster month of july, nope. he is at it again with his second 5 for 5 game, and this one is not a cheap one like the first one of his major league career, it was the real deal. I haven't seen Ichiro this focused since his first year... and even then he wasn't this good.

wow Ichiro, is scary good right now batting 688 this month, Ichiro, has 170 hit's so far, he can very easly end this month with more then 200 hits... now that is getting it done. and what is up with John Olerud, this guy couldn't hit the ball off a tee for the mariners, now that he is a yankee he is hitting every thing, F*** that, they leave us and they get good, what's the deal is safco park really that hard to hit in ?
