View Full Version : First round upsets?

Who do you think will be upset in the first round?
Avs are definitely out in the first. Sharks won't last. I've been impressed with what Detroit and Vancouver have done with depleted lineups, but they are not safe either. In the East any of the top seeds could go down early. Tampa is young, Philly has been inconsistent all year (what's up with that Hitch?), if Stevens doesn't make it back Jersey is in trouble, and Ottawa is well.......Ottawa. So to sum it up, any of the top seeds in either conference could be upset. Looks like the playoffs will be very interesting. What sucks is Edmonton won't be there. I was hoping for Stars/Oilers VII.

Edmonton's still got a shot man. They beat or tie the canucks today and nashville loses to colorado and they're in.l

I hope EDM gets in... All 6 teams nothing but class. They have been playing like they want it, and STL's payroll is huge i hope they somehow drop to 9th.

Toronto will be in the top four at the end of tonight and they will not be upset in the playoffs.

yea but he has been injured for about half of it. it is selanne who is having a bad season.

Champ
April 3rd, 2004, 03:16 PM
Yeah selanne is having a bad year, but i think he is just getting too old. I don't think he was that good in SJ. The funny thing about Kariya is that he has to sign a new contract based on his play this year...

selanne is only 33 or 34 but i agree, he is getting u there, and with their somewhat poor play colorado might be able to keep them.. i hope

 to maxed out there budget, i dont think so the avs and wings are like the yankees, and can you ppl seriously stop making 9-10 posts in a row, its called spamming and is annoying. If you think of something to add and no one else has posted after you yet, EDIT YOUR POST! Common courtesy on forums and also looks a lot better.

Ok, Detroit won't have much of a problem with the Preds. Nashville is tough at home, but they are worst in the league in defence, Detroit is first in offense. The Blues will win a long series with the Sharks. The Stars will SMMMMMOKE the Avs. Colorado is in TROUBLE. Clagary and the Canucklheads will be the best series of the first round. I'm leaning towards the Flames. Tampa should beat the Islanders. But NY has a lot more playoff experience (Pecahead is still an Islander, right?). The Canadians might give the Bruins some trouble, but the Bruins will prevail. Philly WILL beat the Devils. No Stevens, your done. OOOOH, Toronto and Otawa. This will be good. Toronto wins in seven. It sucks that Edmonton isn't here, (all the Canadian teams almosy made it) but this is going to be fun!

Devils winning is not an upset. They own Philly with or without Stevens. With a healthy Stevens, NJ in 6; without Stevens NJ in 7

can i point and laugh when they lose that series against the flyers, like brodeur since his pro career started in my city(AHL) but esche is a hometown product so gotta root for him if he plays. BTW the devils lineup of players isnt very good at least in a depth perspective, to win marty broduer is gonna have to be a wall, sad thing is both teams play a trap so this series while technically should be exciting could be extremely boring.

You can laugh all you want. The Devis have way more depth than you give them credit for. Just because they're not over-priced, under-achieving big names like the Flyers have doesn't mean they won't win. They've proved themselves for 10 years. When was the Flyers last cup win? Exactly. And who knocked them out of the playoffs several times? Precisely.

not when the teams are totally different..

anyway

he ghost of Roy haunts that crease....and he doesnt like young up and comers

what in God's name are you talking about? Aebischer has been one of the most consistent players for the Avs this year. But my point is your comment seems stupid, in fact its just plain dumb. The ghost of Roy WTF?

I wont say isles will beat TB but they can, and yes nashville and calgary can win there series. I say actually Isles in 6, CAL in 7, Det in 5(depends on goaltending could make it 6-7 or make them lose the series)

History has a tendency of repeating itself

History (hiss-tor-ee)-the branch of knowledge dealing with past events

That means the Flyers beating the Devils last night is history, and if history repeats itself, then the Flyers will sweep the Devils.

But if you say history repeats itself by years, you're wrong.
If you were right, the Avs would not have beat the Devils in 2001

2 days later, still no response...

Guess what-Flyers lead series 2-1, everything is going as i predicted (2-0, 2-1, 4-1) Devils home ice won game three, but the Flyers will prevail in game four and five.
