I think I will explain why I, a hardcore 2k fanboy since the dreamcast days, am jumpin ship this year to the EA side again
I can be said with a simple "2K6"

NHL 2k6, MLB 2k6 and NBA 2k6.

While NBA was pretty good, really good actually, it was a launch title for me, and I just loved it. Gameplay was right, difficulty was good, graphics where good. Very enjoyable.
Then a patch came out, and a patch for NCAA, that essentially broke NBA. This just makes no sense, how a patch for 1 game, can affect another. None the less..

MLB 2k6. A joke. Flat out joke. This is a game that came out, was sold for full price, and we were given a beta, not a final polished product. The issue with this game freezing was so bad the company had no choice but to release a patch to address it, however, every player still had no homeruns last year or no rbi's last year, fielders still look like corky running around the field. You know thinking back, we should have seen it coming, all the company interviews see, to comment on how cool the fans how they move will be, but never the gameplay, wierd. Oh yea, the patch took a month to come out...from beta to release candidate..maybe.

NHL 2k6. For me, hockey is a must owm title, but again, this year, we were promised next gen, but what we got was NHL 2k5.8 Take away the "SHINE" on the uniforms, and the ice texture, and it's the exact..same..game..Goal exploits aplenty, franchise freezing, and now for the 360 we get the very cool, loading forever screen. Ah yes, what a great next gen game. But this isn't what pushed me over the edge, no, it was that the company would just not address any of the issues with NHL because it's a game that does not sell as many copies as NBA or MLB, so it's a none priority, which says to me, I am not a priority. If any of us on here, who work, were to sell a product, and give the kind of customer support and take as long to resolve issues that 2K takes, our company would fail.

2K is becoming the very thing they sought to destroy with it's titles, they are nothing more than a company who releases games with new rosters, new shine, and are now taking the arcade approach.

All of the above have boiled over to the point where I am going back to EA. After Fight Night on 360, I am a beleiver, and if NHL 07 can deliver on HALF the promises we are being shown, I will not look back.

2K you have a lot of work to do to win me back over, and you can start by releasing games that are finished. I can guarentee you that if NHL 2K7 is released and the goal exploit, or franchise freeze remains, all you folks who tear into people like me, will start screaming for heads to roll. All of the above, I am not even talking about gameplay, I am talking about technical issues and customer service, gameplay is a whole other topic, but I can start it by saying we all went to 2k hockey for the SIM experiance, well, from the movies, previews and interviews, they are going arcade, the one thing that drew us to them, they are doing away with, If you want a preview of NHL 2k7, put some opera on in the background, and that will give you a good 2K7 feel.

Flame away.

I only play the hockey games so i wouldnt know about the others. But you do have good points.

But im not ready to say im switching to EA like so many have already decided, just upon videos. Id suggest you guys rent both games and make a decision on what games fits your needs better.

Not just doing it because the shootout mode looks cool.... Ive been hyped by EA before then kicked in the nuts, not gonna over hype one of there games again. Ill be renting it.

I really think since the lawsuit EA lost regarding lost pay and basically slave labor from it's employees that the company has taken a whole new approach to making games. Like I said, fight night knocked my sox off, I truly hope that half the things they have promised come true for ea in NHL 07, if they do, then I will be back with EA. 2K doesn't have to do a whole lot..just, for the hockey, they need to start over, new engine and go from there.

Good post, i agree. I think nl 2k6 was a step down from nhl 2k5, i much rather play an xbox hockey game where the players cpu AI ACTUALLY SHOOT on BREAKAWAYS! The shootouts became a joke as more than half of the time as the cpu elected not to shoot at all, but rather pace back and forth for a very long time until the whistle blows. I dont have the 350 version but i heard there wa sa goal glitch for the top corner, not cool.

Yea, those breakaways crack me up; I often score an own goal due to my precisely timed poke-check just when comp is taking the shot (yes - after waiting in all my team mates...). Five-hole is my own goal favourite.

No but seriously: If EA solves the lousy ice friction causing the players to warp around uncontrolably seen in the latest clips(surely they cannot honestly want it like that??!) , THEN I'd think about trying out nhl07...
Hopefully they pull this off before release.

for those who hope in EA: they will NEVER create a really good game. because they even do not want to. their strategy is to make games that LOOK great but with terrible gameplay. so do not be mad and dont hope in something that never happens. and DO NOT BELIEVE IN THOSE ADVERTISING BLAMES. isnt it the same every year?

It was the same every year apparantly, but this one was built from the ground up in canada, they would have taken it seriously, it should/will be a good game.

Why do people think it is necessary to post that your not going to buy a game.....no one cares.

Hey, atleast this guy gave educated reasons why he isn't going to try 2k this year. Usually, people will come on here and say something like, "I hate thezz gamez, they suxxorzzz...EA rulzz..." or something stupid like that...

I may not agree with what he said but atleast it sounded intelligent. More power to ya...

I have my own reasons not to buy the 2k game:

1) I have been patient, but NHL 2K6, 2K5, 2K4 and 2K3 have always prevented me from really improving my record. If I win a game, I expect to have a W on my record. Unfortunately, NHL 2K6 is so unbelievably bad that I can play 6 games in a row and win them all and not have a single increase on my win/loss record online. This is unbelievably annoying.

2) When the game freezes, I automatically get a loss on my record despite the fact that it never updates when I win.

3) When the game freezes for my OPPONENT, I still get a loss on my record.

4) Goal scoring exploits aplenty. It's hard to take a hockey game seriously when every single top corner you shoot goes in.

5) Crease control does not allow you to stop a top corner no matter how quickly you respond unless you are very lucky in making a desperate save.

6) Replays for scored goals are absolutely atrocious, and don't actually show the puck going in. Sometimes you play a match and you or your opponents scores a mysterious goal. You wait for the replay and still have no idea what happened. You have to go in and manually replay the action. Strangely, EA does not have this problem on any of its released games, and 07 seems to show more than ever what happened.

I've liked 2k better ever since it came up with the great controls for defensive poke checking, skating backwards and most recently with the crease control. However, those great features will not prevent me from absolutely despising the game for the aforementioned reasons. Since NHL 2003, I have NEVER had a win or a loss not be recorded on an EA game. If I lose, I expect to have it show on my record, but I expect the same for when I win. Hopefully 2k7 will be a great game and will encourage me to buy it, however I have already pre-ordered 07 and expect it to be the only game I play this year.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Now, I'm not going to buy NHL2K7 because this guy isn't.

Thing that makes me still pro 2k, is EAs defense abilities.

No im not talking about the AI, but with 2k you have more options to use playing D. EA you press Y, and you do a heatseeking hit and knock the guy off the puck too easily, i hope they changed that.

I like the way 2k looks from the gameplay footage, the overhead view gives it way more credit then the instant replay screens that are close up. And the skating on the ice looks better then eas. For me anyways. But like i said, ill rent both and go from there.
