2k games are very bad at advertisement! Look at EA, they are showing off their new control stick control, people think that they were the first to include it in a hockey game. But, NhL 2k6 had it, eventhough you cant pass with it, you can fully control your stick and move it right and left to deke. 2kgames doesn't show whats so good about their games, and why should people buy it over EA. You can tip the puck infront of the net, you can hold players on the board, you can add your own arena music (I have put all the real goal horns in the game). When they release a gameplay video, it is always on arcade and amateur difficulty , which steers people away from the game unless you have already played the 2k games. IT took me 2 years to make my friend atleast try 2k nhl, now he only plays 2k (he stopped playing EA nhl after nhl 04). NHL 06 and NHL 07 look like games only meant to be fun in shootout.

I would have to agree, I am one who is trying to find out which game is the best, and with Ea's marketing I would definately choose them right now. If I didn't know about these boards etc, I wouldn't have heard anythign about 2k games, the only info i've heard on 2k is what other people like yourself say.

Yeah it's pretty funny that EA is soooo pleased with offering these new features for NHL07 - which 2K have had for years....lol..
Perhaps 2K does need a whole new concept of marketing; open up peoples eyes a bit. I'm just glad I stumbled over it a couple of years back :)

2K has had bad marketing even back when it was owned by Sega. There is no real reason why. But, they don't seem to realize that people won't buy your game unless they hear about it first...

when 360 came out every commercial break was nba2k6 and choops2k6 and absolutely no nhl2k6. they need to get ppl who like hockey to advertise

I find it strange that some of you claim that 2k already had everything that EA is offering. Really? Aside from the realistic puck physics, I don't recall ever playing 2k6, 2k5, 2k4 or 2k3 with total control of the puck. Can you really claim you have been able to do whatever you want to the puck with your stick using the right analog? Pressing the L trigger while using the right analog allows you to deke, nothing else.
However what EA is offering is great graphics, an innovative way to play and a stable game. 2k doesn't offer even the great graphics.

2k is terrible at marketing. That is their weakness by far... they don't even advertise how they won the videogaming awards for best game for everything but baseball.

Well the EA version is an evolution of the nhl 2k6 prostick control. In 2k6 you can already make your guy positioned well, facing the net (good for power play). With protick control you can already move your upper body seperatly (new feature in nhl 07). It took time to get used to the stick control in 2k6 but when you do, it becomes really fun and you can score in alot of different ways. When I use to work at futureshop, I made at least 30 people buy nhl 2k6 over EA NHL 06. Most did not even have an idea that 2k6 exist. I showed them gameplay footage and reviews to proove my point and it worked + it was alot cheaper. This year, the same 2k team is working on all nhl versions (current gen and next gen). While Ea has 2 teams, one that only works on the 360 version and one that is making the current gen version. Here in Montreal, the team working on the current gen nhl 07 (xbox,ps2,pc,gc and psp) are 30 people while for the xbox 360 version, they are about 100 working on it.
When I will graduate from software engineering, I will apply for kush games and EA Sports. My friend is working on NHL07 current gen and his shifts from 9 AM to 11 PM everyday. Sometimes they get a day off

That sounds like fun.
