I remember back on NHL 2000, you could have your own name if it sounded common enough. My name sounds just like 'Craig' but spelled completely different, I was able to put my own name on for the jersey and they had a list of names you could choose on a scroll-down menu. Now this was 7 years ago and I still haven't seen anything like that on any NHL game since. Why isn't this put in yet?

It's in 2K sports for many years now.

No, you see when you select your play-by-play name from that menu, it changes what you inputed for your Jersey name to whatever that name says. Ie someone wants to be called 'Craig' vocally on the play-by-play, but their name isn't spelled like that. Even in NBA 2K1 I could be called 'Viper' by the play-by-play and have my last name on the jersey.

No, that feature has been in the NHL 2K series for quite sometime now. If your name is common enough or someone in the NHL shares your name, the commentators will pronounce your name.

I've been using my name for four years now, the commentators never skip a beat...

You're STILL not getting what i'm saying. You can pick a name from the list, but that name is the same name that shows up on the Jersey, I want to be able to put a name that sounds just like "CRAIG" on my jersey, but is spelled differently, and be called "Craig" on the play by play. I select "CRAIG" for my play by play name , but it forces me to use "CRAIG" on my Jersey. IE I want "Kryg" on the jersey, but be called "Craig" by the announcers. Hopefully that clears things up.

I dunno what your saying, In nhl 05 I believe it was I had to create crosby, his jersey name was crosby, but i had them callin him "the one" or something since there was nothin for crosby. And "the one" did not show up on the jersey, said crosby!

NHL 05 is an EA game man, they have different features..what does that have to do with what anything here? I'm wanting to have what I've been talking about in NHL 2K7

Well when I said "why isn't this put in yet?" wouldn't you think I WANT it in 2K7? I shouldn't have to spell it out. But enough b itching.

Okay now I understand, I always thought that was a feature that has been in the 2k series since the beginning. I haven't played NHL is a few months so I'm not sure. But okay I understand what you are saying at least.

yeah.. well I figured that since that feature was in NHL 2000, i'm sure its still possible to get this minor detail in 2K7, unless the development process is over.. it'll probably be out by the end of september.

Yeah, like I like to create my friends, and one is named Sydney, but there is no sYdney, so I have to name him sIdney. They should just do it based on what the name sounds like, and what you spell out should be their actual name.

I think that the best approach to making the announcer say your name in the game is to have a syllable based approach. It wouldn't sound perfect but it would be cool anyway.

I think that with this feature already been made in other games.. it shouldn't take too much for it to be put into the game before it comes out in late setember, wouldn't you figure?

So no one thinks this is possible? Well that's kinda crappy. So do the developers ever read the boards for these kind of suggestions? It'd be cool if they actually read my posts and take it into consideration.. maybe its just wishful thinking

I remember a game I played where it would do that. It was neat cause it would understand variencies in name spelling, and choose a name that sounded like the one you wrote, even if it was spelled a little different (Corey, Corie, Korey ect).
