Players warping/sliding all over the ice (definately a friction issue); seems like there is no real control over movement imo...

I'm convinced you people see what you want to see and come up with dynamics you invision in your head. What I see, is a video nothing short of phenominal.

i agree man, It's almost like being blind to the truth about a women who cheats on you. EA has stepped up and created what looks like a standard setting game. Fantastic physics, amazing animations and movement. Graphics are just crazy. IT has all the sliders we need, and it is going to look awsome on my 51' 720p display.
I see the 2k videos and see marginal improvements in animations, but thats about it. Theres now a fog, the arenas are way too dark. A new pass method, cinemotion, which too me is why I left EA way back when because of all the fluff extra.
Denial. it's a b*tch.

Nothing in that video, aside from the graphics, looks impressive. Maybe it'll be good, maybe not...have to wait and see, but I'm not sold yet...

If you say you are sold on 2k7 from their video i'll throw up on myself. Which i'm sureyou won't.
Who the hell really gets sold on just a video anyway?????.
I can only make a prediction on which I think is going to be better.. based on how much 06 rocked and how much devotion the EA team is putting into 07.

Wow, that looks sweet graphics wise. I love how they are actually showing my Minnesota Wild in the trailer too. I hope I can see some 2K7 gameplay trailers soon.

I definitely have to agree with the 'phenomenal' quote. I think that this game is moving closer to FIFA in creating a very realistic game. I've played 2k6 all year and while it's fun, the exploits kill the fun-factor. As for NHL 06, the puck physics are absolutely terrible. You'll NEVER EVER see the puck be dropped or somehow roll in the way you would with 2k6. The puck basically never ever slips out of the goalie's glove.
NHL 07 however has everything right. First of all the focus will be on making successful poke checks (without accidentally tripping the guy) and not just check everything that moves. Secondly, not all goals will go right in. Some will slip out of the glove or slide in after a defender accidentally hits the goalie and causes him to lose balance. That's realism right there. And if that's not realistic enough, the players themselves, for the first time ever, seem to actually have some sort of a personality.
Every time I look at a 2k7 video, it seems interesting. Then, I see the 07 video and it just seems like I'm comparing a candy bar to a steak dinner. 07 looks superior in every aspect. It makes the game of hockey seem real for the first time.

I stopped reading after this line. Everyone knows that FIFA is garbage and if NHL 07 falls along those same lines then this will be an easy season for 2K...

Yes, please please EA don't move towards the "realism" of FIFA; you have to dig real deep in the budget game pile to find a more unrealistic football game. About 10 different ways to score, that's it (much like any EA hockey title). In Pro Evolution Soccer you have several hundred ways to get that goal...

Whoever isn't amazed by this video is a ****ing retard. Very ignorant, as well. How do you not like what you see? From early video's of NHL 2k7, it looks like another copy of 2k6 with updated rosters and a few new features. They changed the skating animations and all and it looks good.
I'll be getting both 07, and 2k7... But for once, stop being such a ****ing 2k fan boy / EA hater and appreciate what EA has done.
I am blown away. And that's an early video. Any little skating flaws will likely be ironed out.
Stunned...

Has EA ever " ironed " out anything? All they do is throw a game together and make sure it looks good and has a few meaningless features and then let the hype machine do its work.
Noone should believe anything EA says.

I have a friend who does some stuff for EA servers and such. He was telling me the EA NHL 07 360 team had the same budget as the NHL 07 current gen team, but they also got the MVP budget. THey had 2 years to start from scratch.
Oh yea.

I've always been a fan of 2K hockey francise until the 360 came out and they released 2K6 or the version that was left in front of a house in Compton and then left up on blocks as it was completely stripped version of the original Xbox game with only minimally slightly better graphics and oh yeah the save issue and of course the freezing, that was a pleasant issue that they completely ignored and denied and failed to acknowledge existed, and the fact that they charged us $60 for a $20 game with less features than the $20 game. Anyways, these 2K7 videos look exactly the same if not worse and all they added was some extra pro control? not to mention anyone who actually knew how to play previous versions of this game could already skate backwards and do drop passes.Whatever! Not to mention he players look and move like EA hockey from 2003 now ,where is the fluidity they once had? Its like friggin block people that skate 1/4 inch off the ice. Why don't they use the same method of motion capture and physics from NBA2K6 they at least don't look like they are stiff hinged robot people. Not excited for this game at all! not one bit! where is the next gen? 2k is nodefinitely not moving forward with their production efforts but have at least taken 2 steps back. Now bring it on haters! do what you do in these forums and post your witty remarks to this but if you do at least you have taken the time to read this and I appreciate that!!!and oh yeah as far as the title of this thread ,I think the videos are bad.

The arena lights seem so dull and whats with all the fog.
Why do they always play gameplay trailers on rookie mode, it makes the game look arcadish with the end to end skating and the passing through 3 defenders.
I hope the game is better than that preview.

I always loved the 2k Hockey but this year may be a toss up? If I had to choose right now from just what I have been seeing I think I may go with EA's. I love the announcing team that 2k once had and the graphics are IMO in a whole other league. Using the right stick and having a free puck really seems realistic. 2k Hockey is getting a bit to complicated control wise to play and keep fun. The video's at this point for 2k did seem to me that the players had 0 friction and everyone was just flying around without getting tired or slowing up on the aggression level. Could you imagine 60 minutes of that level of aggression in real hockey? For the first time I may have to rent these two titles to really make a decision.

I actually got MLB 2K6. Before it, the only baseball games I had played since Baseball Simulator 1.000 on the Super NES were Triple Play Baseball and MVP Baseball 2005. I gave it a chance because I liked what 2k did with the hockey series and figured it would be a good game if not necessarily beautiful. I have to say I LOVED MVP Baseball 2005. Anyways, I get the game off of eBay for a good price and stick it in. Within 10 minutes of playing it, I wanted to vomit.
No joke, the game is terrible. The graphics are unbelievably disgusting and the batting mechanism, while a good idea, just sucks. I'm sure I wouldn't have minded the batting so much if the graphics weren't as bad as they were. What makes it worse is 2k eventually admitted that if you had a hard drive, there was a freezing issue. It sort of makes you wonder what 2k is up to.
At least they admitted that MLB had a problem though. Why they never addressed any of the problems in NHL is beyond me.

So far both games look pretty stale.
2k7 looks like 2k6 with better animations and NHL 07 looks like 2k6 with worse animations and beter graphics.
I dont see what any hype is about. Neither game really seems to get it.

Why? The only thing that really looks better is the graphics. The animations look worse and both games have the same obvious flaws in what gameplay I have seen.

Admittedly, the animation in NHL 07 doesn't look all to great in the actual gameplay. I love the idea of using the right thumbstick for controlling the stick, but it just seems as though they sacrificed in the animation department to achieve those great visuals and innovative gameplay.

Really agree on the nhl07 animations; from what I've seen so far that new engine of theirs is somewhat over-hyped. Sure, looks solid in shoot-out combined with slow motion but then what...?
Interesting to see though how both games will turn out.

If both games are looking stale or the same, then why wouldn't you go with the one that looks better with better graphics?
