Does anyone else hate the cumbersome, large, fighting windows that cover half the screen when two players are challenging each other for a fight? It's absolutely ridiculous, I think, to have such a huge distracting window to block the actual game play to show a fight breaking out. On the same token, the strategy windows are just as much of a bother. If it was a "training mode" fine, but in the actual game, to have those giant headers come up is a joke. The line change menus too, are way to big. I like that you can adjust the actual time with the slider bar on how much time they appear on the screen, but still, waay too bothersome.
My suggestion to remedy all these scenarios is to create a " score / header bar " on the very top of the game screen, and have ALL the above info included in it, w/ out interfering in the game by blocking the game screen and game play. The transparent windows are a good thought, but are still an "overlay" and take away from the game I feel. Simply show both team name abbreviations, the score, time in peroid, which period, highlighted team who may be on the power play, pp/pk time, and possibly a momentum bar if applied, two players who are currently challenging each other for a fight, icon for a delayed penaly, and an icon for stragegies which are called by each team.(ie. H for help, C for crash the net...and so on, as not to take up too much space) I realize this seems like a lot of info for one title bar, but just look at an actual hockey game on espn or oln and you'll see what i mean. It's very neat and non-interfering to the game play, easy to see all info and quickly reference too, and would look just like a true sim hockey game, which the 2k series has had pride in doing since 03'.

I don't mean to comment on my own thread, but i have to give credit where credit is due. I saw some of the new 2k7 videos of late, and the programmers have addressed the "score bar" issue to a certain extent. It looks much smaller, and has a "stream line" info portion to the side, running info from the game, which looks cool. I would like to see it at the very top though, instead of havng the space above it, but nun-the-less, thanks to the programmers for the fix and the effort. GO WINGS !!! ( minus Yzerman )

I agree totally. The windows for line change/strategy/ect. are very distracting to the game play. One other note, I'd like to be able to skip thru the cut scenes in between face offs when I want to. In 2k6 you cannot do this, and you are forced to watch them EVERY TIME !!! please address this 2k, ty.

This is a huge bother for me also. Why those large windows over-lap the game screen is mind boggling to me, and how it gets through ANY kind of "play-testing" is a total mystery. I like the idea of wingsrule's suggestions of having a scoring bar, smaller icons, and reduced windows for line changes, strategies, ect. To incorporate all these items and any other things needed to be shown for the game and not to interfere over the game screen in one info/title bar would be brilliant yet simple to me and solve any distractions not to blind the game-play screen. All my friends who buy, play and enjoy the 2k hockey games feel the same way as well. This simple fix would alone elevate the quality of the 2k hockey games I feel, along with patching the non-cpu name/pos bug of 2k6 and the other issues last years game had.

It's also never seemingly the same time in between face offs to change lines & edit face-off set-up either. (I'd like more variety of this aslo, plus fix the "ODD" face-off postions guys, please !!! (ie. the slot !!! Good Grief !!!) I realize when you ice the puck, you cannot change, but otherwise, one time you have 2 seconds and others you have the full seven minutes it takes to show the forced-view of the cut scene of the lines changing and skating on and off the ice, you're not able to skip thru?
