Who does you guys think will be the top 5 players on NBA 2K7?

PLAYER RATING

1. Kobe Bryant: 99

2. Lebron James: 98

3. Dirk Nowinski: 98

4. Kevin Garnett: 97

5. Dywane wade: 95

Overall ratings never matter in 2k sports games. If the game was like last years a guy with an 85 who could dunk and shoot threes would be better then a guy with a 95 who was great allaround.

It's kinda hard to look at all the All-Stars in the NBA and choose the top 5. No matter what, someone will think that another player should be on the list or off the list.

Tim Duncan should be AT LEAST mid 90's. In 2k6, he was a 99. That is too high IMO. So I changed him to a 95.

Because he is a better player. If Garnett had the team Duncan has they would be winning chapionships left n right. Think about it. garnett is a better ball handler, better out shooter, better passer, better free-throw shooter, and more agressive on defense. KEVIN GARNETT IS A BETTER PLAYER THEN TIM DUNCAN PERIOD :D

Ok let me break it down for you guys:

The best player in the game rank wise will still be KG..the way the game is rated right now...his rating is probably something like a 103 but the game rating doesnt go over 99. Duncan is in the same boat(players rated so high that the exceed the 99 mark.

1a.KG(99)
1b.TD(99)
3.Kobe(99)
4.Wade(98...depends on his 3 rating...he shot great from 3 in the playoffs but terrible in the season so it depends on which stats they use)
5.ELTON BRAND(98 atleast 97) Brand is the sleeper he will be rated better than Dirk

Thats the top 5 but i will go on.

6Dirk(97)

7a Lebron(96)
7b Pierce(96)
7c AI(96....would be 98 or 99 if they would stop hating on his mid range rating which should be atleast 90)

9. Arenas(94)
10. Nash(either 94 or 93 depending on whether or not they overrate his defensive awareness AGAIN)

Honorable mebtion:

Jermaine O'neil(could be as high as 94)

Oops forgot tmac he should still have his 95 rating.

For all the ppl who are gonna say lebron should be higher....he slacked slightly on steals this year and that will hurt his steal rating.

yeah thats what i was saying. every year its KG and zDuncan who have solid 99 ratings which like you said to me seems like they could even be rated as high as in the 100s. so why would all of a sudden they drop off?? and yeah like everyone else i think kobe will join them in that status.

Bring KG down.

The guy is good but come on now.. He's practically Dwight Howard with nobody else on the team now. (Don't even think about Davis.)

Joe_PacoTD#21

I honestly think no one deserves a 99 rating in 2K7. Although, Duncan and Garnett remain two of the best players in the league, their statistical out-put dropped last season, so neither deserves a 99 (IMO). Also, every other top 5 player or "candidate" has some sort of flaw in his game (IMO).

So, with all that said here is my top 10 list:

1. Tie Kevin Garnett/Tim Duncan - 98

2. Kobe Bryant - 97

3. Lebron James - 96 (Low defensive awareness (70 or 75) rating should cost him a higher rating.)

4. Dwyane Wade - 96

5. Dirk Nowtizki - 95 (He still isn't the complete players that Garnett and Duncan are, he's just a superior shooter.)

6. Elton Brand - 94 (MVP candidate)

7. Gilbert Arenas - 93

8. Shawn Marion - 93

9. Allen Iverson - 93

10. Yao Ming - 91

^^ KG better than Duncan ? Jesuschrist dude U R wrong

No, I said it was a tie. They both deserve a 98, because Duncan is the superior inside scorer (very important for a PF in real and the game), low-post defender, and shot blocker. While, Garnett is better in everything else.

But, since the game weighs certain things more important for different positions, or at least last season it did, that makes them equally a 98.

Bring KG down.

The guy is good but come on now.. He's practically Dwight Howard with nobody else on the team now. (Don't even think about Davis.)

Now actually which one of his ratings would you bring down?

Only rating you could seriously bring down his his Low post defense rating(which i think is overrated at 95)...but guess what? I long ago editted it to a 90 on my own rosters and HE IS STILL 99!!!

He is simply the most talented PF in the league(IF Dirk ever gets his D on a KG level then he will be the most talented)

And Dwight Howards perimeter game(handle, shooting ability and the quickness to gaurd SF's) is NO WHERE NEAR and never will be on the same level as KG's.

However i do agree with the person who said noone should be rated a 99, but with the way the 2k rating system is, it is very accurtate.

I wish the only way you could be a 99 overall rating, is if every attribute was a 99,basically ensuring that no real life player(create a players dont count) would ever have a 99 rating.

^^ 99 should be just for MJ, Magic and Bird

Not even them should have 99 overall.

MJ lacked a "Great" 3 point shot

Magic nor Bird was "Great" on defense.

No player should have a 99 overall rating, when i see 99 overall i think "great at everything"...which no player will ever be.

Who are the two most dominate players?

I'd bet my money on Kobe and Lebron.

Kobe is the best player in the league right now without a doubt. He can simply do it all, but he can't do it all by himself.

Lebron strapped his team on his back and nearly beat Detroit. As a matter of fact, Detroit was so tired from dealing with Bron Bron they were a no show vs. Miami.

KG is awesome and so is Timmy but they aren't the impact players that Kobe and Lebron are. When you start talking 99's you are talking about the players you want on your team first and cringe thinking about having to play against them. Like Jordan was a 99! (FYI AnTLiL20 when Jordan came out of retirement the first time, he shot 50% from 3, 42.7% the next season, and 37.4% the next so yeah, he did develop a great 3) Bird and Magic were 99's! Duncan isn't on that level nor is KG. They won't just take over a game, in the playoffs and there be nothing you can do about it.

Dirk, well, he is a mutant. He is a proven shooter and at 7'0" he is a big match up problem. He can take over a game! But Haslem and Posey gave him fits. Actually almost shut him down. They can't do that to Kobe or Lebron.

D-Wade, wow, that's a hard one. He is on the crest of being like that. He showed greatness in the finals but isn't doing that on the regular. He has mad game and is in the same group I would put Dirk, Gilbert, Nash, Manu (he was handling his business in the playoffs), and T-Mac.

My final grades:

Kobe 99
Lebron 99
Duncan 98
KG 98
D-Wade 97
Dirk 96
Pierce 96
Nash 95
A.I. 95
Areanas 94
T-Mac 93
Manu 92

These are my opinions and do not reflect the opinions of this site or it's affiliates. lol

As much as I hate to say it, Manu's not a 92 after last year. He can be as good as a 92, but that requires that he stay healthy instead of constantly tweaking his ankle.

That and he MUST start hitting his 3's again.

it's hard to realistically measure modern players against the legends, but MJ, Barkley, Magic, Bird, Wilt, Shaq, West, and Robertson should ALL be at least 100. Then, the players in the modern league should have a rating ceiling of 99 or 100 (with the exception of obvious future HOF players like Kobe, KG, TD, Iverson, etc.) I'm not saying all of the Legends teams should be shoulders above NBA stars of today (b/c the average player is MUCH better nowadays), but certain ones should be ABOVE the regular.

I'm just happy CAP will let me make Jordan correctly this year.

Awright, yall.
It seems like we all have alot of knowledge about nba players, ratings and we all have different opinions about every players abilities. Thats great.

So here is my opinion about the top 5 players in 2k7 and in NBA. Im really sure im 99.98 % correct: you guys who think Duncan and KG is at the same level, im telling they're not because if you take KG and bring him to the spurs and take Duncan to the T-Wolves, i bet anything the Spurs will win a championship every year. not just because Duncan got better players surrounding him but because the spurs got one of the best coaches in the history of the NBA and i would even say a better Manager. i hope yall agree wit dat.

Second: if yall think KG don't deserves a 99, than im telling u this; just because he didn't do much last year doesn't mean his rating should go down. Its wasn't worth to kill him self for nothing because they dont have no center, pointguard, shootingguard, coach, manager(McHale sucks), no bench either. i would like yall to think about when they had Saunders (coach), cassel, sprewell, Szcerbiak, back in 2004 that they went all the way to the conference finals. And now only the Big gun is left in Minnesota (KG); everybody else left and i hope that changes this year.

Here is my list of the top 5 players in 2k7
1. Kevin Garnett (99) (the best powerforward and allaround player in the league)
2. Kobe Bryant (98) (best offensive player)
3. LeBron James (98) (rising hall of famer)
4. Dwayne Wade (97) (rising superstar)
5. Dirk Nowitzki (96) (deadly shooter for a big man, improved on rebounding, defense, and a lil' court vision)

Duncan is not listed because he deserves a 95 or 94 because he don't got a long range shot, free throw, passing and some other little things.

Kobe is the best, maybe the best ever, definetly the best in the new millineum and the best guard of this millineum. This video proves that.

http://dory.mncast.com/mncHMovie.swf...20060907045809

The only player you can really compare him with is MJ. Everyone else is simply not as good. Not that that's a bad thing, there are a lot of really good players in the league franchise players but non of them are Kobe's equal. Kobe isn't the most gifted athelete, Lebron, Wade they are both Freaks! If I were ranking players by position it'd be:

PG: Nash (6)
Billups (12)
Kidd (14)
Arenas (18)
Paul (19)

SG: Kobe (1)
Wade (2)
Answer (9)
VC (16)
Ray Ray (17)

SF: LB23 (3)
Melo (11)
T-Mac (13)
Marion
Kirelinko

PF: Garnett (4)
Dirk (Questionable) (7)
TD (8)
Brand (15)
JO (20)

C: Shaq (5)
Yao (10)
Z
Brad Miller
Kristic

These ratings are more for building a team. If I were building a team this is what I'd use as a basis for who I picked. But Kobe is the unanimous number 1 if I were to start a franchise he would be the #1 pick everyone else would be a toss up. But SF is the deapest position in the league. I'd only pick 4 players over Shaq if this were 3 years ago it'd be down to 1 (Kobe) and that would be iffy. That's why they one 3 straight they had the 2 best players on earth!

Thugballa85
September 10th, 2006, 09:31 AM
haha Nowinski. I agree with your players, except I feel that KG and Wade should be a higher rating than Dirk.

naw that about right Dirk does score more. He has a better jumpshot than both of them common now. Dirk can shoot 3's consistantly too, that KG and Wade cannot do right now. Wade will but KG no.

From a GM's point of view who would you choose to build a team around? I think all of the guys in the top 10 Guarantee 25 wins.

Top 10 player +14 scrubs= 25 wins (Twolves)
Top 10 player +14 decent players= 45 wins Lakers last year
Top 10 player + one other top 5 in position = 50+
Top 10 player + great team = Contender (Spurs, Mavs, Suns, Cavs)
2 Top 10 players + scrubs= playoffs
2 Top 5 players = Championship (00-02 Lakers, 90's Bulls, Heat)

That's the formula, that's why the Heat should repeat this year and make it to the finals, especially since the Cavs gave up Flip Murray (dumb move)

1. Kobe Bryant: 99

2. Lebron James: 98

3. Dirk Nowizki: 98

3. Dywane wade: 98

5. Carmelo Anthony: 97
and others like T Mac and about 10-12 superstars players

Melo 97 no his max is only 90 and that is if he uses his entire arsenal. Don't get me wrong the boy got game but his rebounding, passing, blks, and def aw is keeping him down.

wtf are you stupid tim duncan is gonna be a 99 and you hjave to be a complete idiot to think otherwise.

Nah Timmy 99 days are over he now is only around 96/97. The last 2 season showed that he is dropping out of being the best player in the L. Sorry T-Duncan you are still the best PF in the game but not the best player anymore.

also its obvious dirk is overrated he hasn't earned a 98. i think 96 is good for him.

Dirk overrated? Look at his stats he averaged 26pts and 9rds. Timmy D only averaged 18pts and 11rds. Now you tell me who seems overrated or do we have a hater in the house?

so then why would kg be a 97?? what has he done to prove he is better than duncan? alos kg was a 99 in 2k6

Good point but KG averaged more pts, rds, ast, and more steals. KG only has 3/4 other guys on his team and the rest of them suck or is for defense. KG for the past 5+ yrs has been 20, 10, & 5. Timmy a 97 and KG 98 but will be a 99 after allstar break cuze he has better players around him.

I'll just go by position with my ratings. I'm not gonna think to much about this but let me know what you think.

PG
Nash - 93 - MVP
Arenas - 93 - Not as good of a passer as Nash but I think his scoring ability would give them an equal rating.
J-Kidd - 90 - Hes getting up there in age but I think hes still one of the best in the league
Tony Parker - 88 - He had a breakout season last season and hes young so I'm giving him room to improve in Association
Bibby - 87 - Just because people keep leaving him out but i think he's pretty good

SG
Kobe - 98 - He is the best player in the league imo but I just don't like 99 ratings
Wade - 96 - He showed signs of greatness in the playoffs but think he can improve some also.
Iverson - 96 - He had the best statistical year of his career last year.
Vince Carter - 93 - He's starting to come back to form after his lil drop off in toronto.
Ray Allen - 91 - He's a great 3 point shooter and franchise player.

SF
Lebron 97- He's good but theres something about his game that needs to improve. Or it may just be that I don't like watching him play iono.
Pierce - 95 - He was beast last seaon even though the league kind of slept on him a little bit.
Ak-47 - 94 - Great defence and a threat for a triple or quadrupal(spelling) double any night.
Marion - 93 - He can do a lil bit of everything pretty well. Also he can defend 1-4.
Melo - 91 - After his performance in the world games i think he's on a whole new level probaly would be a 99 after 2 seasons in the association, one season if user controlled.

PF
Tim Duncan - 98 - He as 3 rings and 3 Finals MVP trophys. May have 4 if Manu didn't foul Dirk FOR NO REASON!!!! what was he thinking?
KG - 98 - I don't see him play enough to really develope a strong opinion of him other than he looks like a billy goat. But I think the total consenses is that he is great.
Dirk - 96 - Has great all around game other than his suspect defence. Also sometimes he gets shutdown in situations where he could/should dominate.
Brand - 92 - He does alot as his position for a guy of his size
O'neal - 90 - I have a feeling he's gonna be out of this list after this season.

C

Shaq - 91 - I do this out of respect for him but I think he's gonna fall off dramatically this year.
Ben Wallace - 87 - He blocks, he rebounds, and he scores 5points a game and is getting old.
Z - 86 - He's ok in a league hard pressed for good centers
Brad Miller - 85 - Hes a solid big man night in and night out and has a nice mid range J
Okur - 83 - Don't sleep on this man. He wasn't on the radar much last season but he can drain it for any where on the floor. He's no dirk though.

Some honorable mentions
D.Howard - 86
Bosh - 86
Marbury - 85
B-diddy - 87
Artest - 88
Gasol - 90

I didn't think that hard about these ratings but this is how i feel after 6mins of quick thinking and typing.

These are my 2 best at each position (Im also thinking the time they are in their career)

PG-Chris Paul-89-hes a great point guard last year rookie of the year, if hornets made playoffs would have been mentioned for MVP, and they were in the race until all star break,a lot of trades messed their season up.

Steve-Nash 93 over, hes a great passer who could be a great scorer, if you ever watch him when they are taking away his pass, thats when he scores like 40 and things.

SG-Kobe-98 Dont ask why

SG- D WADE-96- i think hes great, but not yet on Kobes level of intensity, and clutchness

SF-Lebron James-98- Though he cant shoot as good as Kobe, He can pass better, rebound better, and this may get a lot of arguements, but hes stronger and finishes a little better around the rim(Last year he led the League in And 1's)

SF-Melo-93 Has One of the Best all around offensive games in the league. He can shoot, stop and pop, and has the best low post game of anyone 1-3.(And thats why Kobe said that melo is the hardest person for him to guard)

PF-Tim Duncan-98-Dont ask why

PF-Dirk Nowitski-96-Play defense, and you get two xtra points

C-Shaq-97- And i say this becaus even though he is old, hes still more powerful than any center in the league, and Still cant be guarded one on one.

C-Amare Stoudamire-98-Because i think that he is the new center type, runs fast jumps high, and defends. i know he just under went surgery, but im taking nothing from him until he proves other wise. If you guys remember, when he was healthy, and Tim Duncan was healthy, he gave tim Duncan Fits, and i mean Fits in that Western Conference Final Series.
