In the gamespot preview!!!!
" On defense, the strip and rip system from NBA 2K6 has been tweaked as well. Instead of attempting steals to the left or right by pushing left or right on the stick, you'll shade your coverage left and right on the man you're defending. By pushing towards your opponent, you'll attempt a strip, and by pushing away from your assignment, your player will stick his hands up in the air. What should be interesting is the rock/paper/scissors battles that will emerge using this new defensive system when playing in the post, for example. If a player decides to spin right or left, and you are shading your coverage to the correct side, the result will be a neutral collision--if you guess wrong, your opponent is going to leave you standing still as he makes his way towards the basket."

This is EXACTLY what I asked for as something for NEXT year's game to have because I thought they wouldln't of had time for it.

This is such good news because I use the Sacto Kings (rep 916) and now I will DOMINATE with the TruWarrier Ron Artest!!!!! It said in the interview that the higher defense rated players will keep up and turn around quick and block the shot.

I Love this game!!!!!

Im assuming the Gamespot Hands-on. I saw something like that, but since I didnt care much about the stealing, I skipped over.

I kind of assumed that just it will be harder to get past defensive-minded players.

I've been speaking of this mechanic since 2K4 when they introduced the charge button (and the rock/paper/sissors speech). It never made sense that when you pressed the charge button that the defender would randomly jump either side. I mentioned that it should be controlled by the user, as it would make more sense and would allow you to know when you've taken the wrong jump, instead of the computer deciding for you. Anyway, I'm glad to hear they finally made sense of the logic.

I'm glad we can finnaly raise our hands.
I wonder if we can sprint while in the stance.

It's pretty logical. It only makes sense to make it like that.

It is logical, I would also gladly accept the function as it would add more meaning to the D-awareness stat. I like the idea though.
