Willy Mays!!!
According to Barry Bonds, Willy (am I spelling that right?) Mays is the greatest baseball player of all-time. Yup, steroids mess with your brain.
In a post-game interview, Barry Bonds said "...to be one homerun behind Willy Mays.. he's the greatest baseball player of all-time."

I take it your not very bright eh? Mays lost around 200 freaking HRs in where he played! At polo grounds all walls but directly to left and right field were 400+ feet and 440+ feet at left center and right center. Mays then played at candle stick park when there was no left field fence! Hello that strong as heck bay area wind would rush right into the park making it extremely difficult to hit a homerun there! Babe spent lots of his carrer at the very left handed friendly Yankee stadium! plus Mays was 10 times the outfielder ruth was.

My point is, when someone asks you "Who is the greatest baseball player of all-time?" You think Babe Ruth, not Willy Mays

Babe Ruth is in a league of his own. There has not been another player that you can even mention in the same sentence as him. When Barry Bonds hits 219 HR in one season then you can start an argument.

Willy Mays!!!
Willy (am I spelling that right?)
Its spelled Willie and Ruth by far is the best player of all time...
Not only did he hit 714 home runs, but he pitched for 94 wins and 107 CG. In 1917 for the Red Sox he went 24-13 with a 2.01 ERA and 128 K's.
By the way Ruth was an alcoholic and played a lot of games drunk...

1st of all, i'd have to say that to vote on the best player of all time, you can't just give two options because there are so many players that can contend for this title. however, my vote in this case would go to Willie Mays, because of the mere fact that he was an all around player. He could run, hit, throw, and field...
you can argue that ruth was the best hitter that ever lived, and he had a couple of good seasons as a pitcher for the red sox, but you have to remember that hitting wasn't all that as it is today, or in Mays' era for that matter. i mean come on, hitting 10 homeruns was almost unheard of in that day and age. yes, ruth was a tremendous hitter...but imo, that was it, and his career didn't last very long either. Willie Mays played from the late 50's to the early 70's. You gotta give credit where credit is due, and in this case i give it to the "Say Hey" Kid!
I will say this however, thank you to Babe Ruth for making the game of baseball the most recognized game on the face of the earth.

I know. I think there are some better players than the 2 listed. I would take Aaron over those 2 and not just because of hrs

Babe Ruth or Barry.
Babe was an incredible pitcher and batter thats a real all-around player. And he didn't use any type of drug to make himself stronger unlike some players today.

I think you have to look at Ruth in the sense that he was an elite pitcher and an elite hitter, with the divide in his production compared to other players of his era being much wider than that found by any superstar of any other era in the game
Another guy that should be considered is Ted Williams. Actually, the list of players in th epoll is pretty lacking when consider all the greats who have played
There's my 2 cents Canadian, currently trading at about 1.425 cents USD......

Well cwebb hit the nail on the head with that one not to mention that Mays spent a couple of years in the army.

But i have to go with K Bomber on this one cause its the Babe. I mean the Babe won 20 games TWICE as a pitcher and put up numbers thats still unbroken to this day and im not just talking about 714! I really dont like to compare baseball players from different eras for many reasons. Some happen to be the backdoor slider and circle change which you didnt have back in those days and would of gave many hitter problems. Plus you didnt have the advanced sports facilities, traveling, supplements and faculty that many players come into contact with today. Other than that this poll is about as skimpy as Janet Jackson at the halftime show! Where the H-E-L-L is Ted Williams, Pete Rose, Hank Aaron, Joe Dimaggio, Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson....
Negr0 Leagues should be considered atleast!

Vladimir Alvino Guerrero, because hes a five tool player he can do it all. Mays didn't have a great life time AVG ending his career with only a 302 AVG, Ruth didn't have the glove, collecting 179 errors in his career, Teddy Ballgame could not dream of a SB, But Vlad can do all these things and More so that's how he will be the Greatest of all time when hes done, best believe.
