I hope if it does come back it has a damn purpose. who cares about the points if you can't do something with them. I would like them if that meant we could by like better trainers, rennovations to your stadium or something like that instead of just being a random number. who cares about it really.... I could do with out unless they attach it to something on the game.

I care about it plenty because it lets me,the user,'program' how teams play. Then I can play against team-specific profiles as well as my friends profiles,as well as downloading profiles off the internet to play against.
It is a sad commentary when 2k are the only people doing the VIP thing, and yet 80% of their fan base doesnt even care or understand how to use it.
NFL2k and NBA2k are the best sports sereies ever, and this feature only magnifies their greatness.
Heck,Madden might actually be playable if they had a VIP system, thet is how great it is.
The 'one size fits all' programmer style really doesn't work that well,as they are really only now getting into truly giving the team's the right personalities.
'Team Sliders' are cool for NBA2k this year.

According to Gamespor today, there will be.
Yippee!!!
Hopefully, you can play against them in the franchise thingy.I still don't know why you can't in NBA2k7,when you could in NBA2k6:(
But this cheers me up a little:)

What's a VIP? How does it effect gameplay?

It records how you or your friends play, and allows you to play against these 'virtual' play styles.
It works best for me if I create 'team-specific' VIP's,such as(in the NBA example)'Shaq'for the Heat,'Nash' for the Suns, etc, etc. It's also good to learn to run plays for these teams, although that is not a requirement.
I also have a general profile that I make for playing with multiple teams, and you can also download VIP's off the Internet to play against.
The Possibilities are endless!!!
I feel the VIP logic is more fun and challenging than the regular CPU LOgic, especially if the player who made that VIP is good.It is a little less predictable.

I played against my own vip in last years game and it was pretty much how I played. What it dose is it tells the cpu ow to play if i take a lot of threes the vip team would take a lot of threes and so on. If you don't do a lot of those flashy moves they won't do many. I have never downloaded or played against team specific ones though. I do play mostly in online leagues though.
