Just to post lyrics of artists. Not a freestyle thread, please just post lyrics. Post lyrics of artists from any genre, not just rap...

I'll start it off with one of my favorite verses, this from Inspectah Deck, one of the best and most underrated lyrists in Hip-Hop IMO...

Inspectah Deck, Wu-Tang Clan, Iron Flag
Aiyyo, you know the half...
Some get respect, most we show the path...
They quoted tracks while we spoke math...
Blowin' fast...
Expose the craft...
First picks chosen in the draft...
I don't flash...
Hoes love me cause I hold a stash...
Known to blast...
Paramedics couldn't close the gash...
Floatin' past in an alley with the oak dash...
Show the cash, watch it blow in half...
It's no fair, they goin' mad....
Check their tape recorders and their notepads...
Crabs wanna play me close and grab...
Can't believe you on the canvas, I'm just throwin' jabs...
Where the powers you supposed to have?
Hand in your soldier rag...
You posin' bad, show your *** son, you won't last...
With heavy weights that elevate the whole mass...
Compose a smash, rollin' grass at Ghost lab...

Hey you caught me in a coma
And I don't think I wanna
Ever come back to this...world again
Kinda like it in a coma
'Cause no one's ever gonna
Oh, make me come back to this...world again
Now I feel as if I'm floating away
I can't feel all the pressure
And I like it this way
But my body's callin'
My body's callin'
Won't ya come back to this...world again
Suspended deep in a sea of black
I've got the light at the end
I've got the bones on the mast
Well I've gone sailin', I've gone sailin'
I could leave so easily
While friends are calling back to me
I said they're
They're leaving it all up to me
When all I needed was clarity
And someone to tell me
What the **** is going on
******* it!

Slippin' farther an farther away
It's a miracle how long we can stay
In a world our minds created
In a world that's full of ****

Help me
Help me
Help me
Help me
*******

Please understand me
I'm climbin' through the wreckage
Of all my twisted dreams
But this cheap investigation just can't
stifle all my screams
And I'm waitin' at the crossroads
Waiting for you
Waiting for you
Where are you

No one's gonna bother me anymore
No one's gonna mess with my head no more
I can't understand what all the fightin's for
But it's so nice here down off the shore
I wish you could see this
'Cause there's nothing to see
It's peaceful here and it's fine with me
Not like the world where I used to live
I never really wanted to live

Zap him again
Zap the son of a ***** again

Ya live your life like it's a coma
So won't you tell me why we'd wanna
With all the reasons you give it's
It's kinda hard to believe
But who am I to tell you that I've seen
any reason why you should stay
Maybe we'd be better off without you anyway

You got a one way ticket
On your last chance ride
Gotta one way ticket
To your suicide
Gotta one way ticket
An there's no way out alive
An all this crass communication
That has left you in the cold
Isn't much for consolation
When you feel so weak and old
But is home is where the heart is
Then there's stories to be told
No you don't need a doctor
No one else can heal your soul

Got your mind in submission
Got your life on the line
But nobody pulled the trigger
They just stepped aside
They be down by the water
While you watch 'em waving goodbye
They be callin' in the morning
They be hangin' on the phone
They be waiting for an answer
When you know nobody's home
And when the bell's stopped ringing
It was nobody's fault but your own
There were always ample warnings
There were always subtle signs
And you would have seen it comin'
But we gave you too much time
And when you said that no one's listening
Why'd your best friend drop a dime
Sometimes we get so tired of waiting
For a way to spend our time
An "It's so easy" to be social
"It's so easy" to be cool
Yeah it's easy to be hungry
When you ain't got **** to lose
And I wish that I could help you
With what you hope to find
But I'm still out here waiting
Watching reruns of my life
When you reach the point of breaking
Know it's gonna take some time
To heal the broken memories
That another man would need
Just to survive

This is Wu-Gambinos
Intro:

And in our line of work, we need all the help we can get
Tony Wing's the name, he works for a drug ring in Central America
Who wants to kill him?
No information, say yes or no
One point five million
Alright, you get what you want -- money's no object
They're all clean, no serial numbers, untraceable
And there are explosive head bullets, your favorite

Chorus: Method Man

Verse One: Method Man, a.k.a. Johnny Blaze

Commandeer a new frontier, this be the Wu yeah
Thirty-six chambers of fear, huh, you lost it
Information leakin out your faucets, hmmmmm
Time to forfeit your crown and leave the ground
There's a new sheriff in town holdin it down
It's the two holster, **** shot smoker
Wanted dead or alive, bounty on the poster
Wild in the West, a student of my culture
And life is the test, hold up
Let a ***** catch his breath, we still payin dues
And the last one is death, back to the essence
With that **** you stressin, this rap profession
Now peep Tical, the son of the Shaolin

I call my brother Sun cuz he shine like one

Verse Three: RZA, a.k.a. Bobby Steels

Solid gold crown is shinin
Solid gold, check it Sun yo
Solid gold crown be shinin and blindin like some diamonds
I be pioneerin the style in the cloud with silver linings
Double breasted, bullet proof vested, well protected
The heart the rib cage the chest and solar plexus
Castin stones, crackin two-hundred and six bones
And watch yo' *** get blown to a sea of fire and brimstone
How dare you approach it with dim pones
The overfiend like noah bean green souls with a soldier mean
The grand exquisite imperial wizard oh is it
The Rzarector come to pay your *** a visit
Local bio-chemical, universal giant, the black general
Lickin shots to Davy Crockett on the bicentennial
Happen millenium two thousand microchips two shots of penicillin
goes up your adrenalin son it's time for boutin
It's a mileage resemblin *****z who like followin
Trapped inside your projects like a genie inside the bottle

Verse Four: Master Killer

God steppin forth upon holy ground of the track
It's the sound that surrounds and hurts me like I'm under attack
So I decided to bite down on the mic
So the pain of the track won't deny the fact
That I'm the Master, for what lurks, is an expert
That hurts the individual who tries to visual-ize under
Cuz I strike, like thunder
*****z couldn't stand my heat, it's unbearable
My wisdom ****s up your respiratorial
Systems are fractured by the killa tactics
Style is ragged and thoughts are mad jagged
Enter the entity, my vicinity
Is three hundred and sixty degrees of humidity
Represent the school of hard knocks and glocks my
Clan is hoss and got mad moss for blocks so
Feel the force of impact from the iron side of
The gat as I attack the track
From the blind side of the pack, Starks pass the chrome
Watch a ***** get blown out his mutha****in dome
piece, deceased, laid to rest

Chorus

Verse Five: Ghostface Killer, a.k.a. Tony Starks

Yo, aiyyo I got to serve them my way, move give me room
Holdin up your saloon, clean sweep, like a broom
Full moons make me howl like a wolf outta breath
Sold only new vocal cords I heard Genius on Gef
So step back, to the lab at, high velocity
My teammate, in here sells well like a pharmacy
**** Horado Pablos plan growas bravo
Goodfellas we know, best sellas become novels
The man rockin head bands, silk scarves and jams
Early 80's british rock, playboys, mocks, and shams
The laser beam vocalist does well at symphonies
Bad days, watch me snatch ice right outta Tiffany's
Remember them kids that came off with 8 million
Robbed the Brinks and I labelled in royal pavillions
Them flower heads must have been stupid
Tell me how the **** black *****z get caught wit all that loot kid
That's jet money, undaground money
Submarines and rings too bad you ****ed up dummies

Cosa cosa, come on...

our time grows closer to the end

listen stranger, passer by, and to those i never knew
there's not one day that you are livin'
that has been promised to you

i am a god fearing man
i am a god fearing man
when i reach out for my god's hand
i'm a god fearing man

listen mother sister brother
relatives and kin
you want to know just where you're going
then you've got to know just where you've been

The greatest line ever...

What could be better than a swan dive into the asphalt?!

Who said this line, you ask? Jared Gomes, the frontman for (hed) PE in the song Swan Dive, on their greatest album, Broke.

All right stop collaborate and listen
Ice is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Flow like a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop yo I don't know
Turn off the lights and I'll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle
Dance go rush to the speaker that booms
I'm killing your brain like a poisonous mushroom
Deadly when I play a dope melody
Anything less than the best is a felony
Love it or leave it you better gain weight
You better hit bull's eye the kid don't play
If there was a problem yo I'll solve it
Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it

Now that the party is jumping
With the bass kicked in and the vegas are pumpin'
Quick to the point to the point no faking
I'm cooking MC's like a pound of bacon
Burning them if you ain't quick and nimble
I go crazy when I hear a cymbal
And a hi-hat with a souped up tempo
I'm on a roll and it's time to go solo
Rollin' in my 5.0
With my rag-top down so my hair can blow
The girlies on standby waving just to say hi
Did you stop no I just drove by
Kept on pursuing to the next stop
I busted a left and I'm heading to the next block
The block was dead
Yo so I continued to A1A Beachfront Avenue
Girls were hot wearing less than bikinis
Rockman lovers driving Lamborghinis
Jealous 'cause I'm out getting mine
Shay with a guage and Vanilla with a nine
Reading for the chumps on the wall
The chumps acting ill because they're so full of eight balls
Gunshots rang out like a bell
I grabbed my nine all I heard were shells
Falling on the concrete real fast
Jumped in my car slammed on the gas
Bumpet to bumper the avenue's packed
I'm trying to get away before the jackers jack
Police on the scene you know what I mean
They passed me up confronted all the dope fiends
If there was a problem yo I'll solve it
Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it

Take heed 'cause I'm a lyrical poet
Miami's on the scene just in case you didn't know it
My town that created all the bass sound
Enough to shake and kick holes in the ground
'Cause my style's like a chemical spill
Feasible rhymes that you can vision and feel
Conducted and formed
This is a hell of a concept
We make it hype and you want to step with this
Shay plays on the fade slice like a ninja
Cut like a razor blade so fast other DJs say damn
If my rhyme was a drug I'd sell it by the gram
Keep my composure when it's time to get loose
Magnetized by the mic while I kick my juice
If there was a problem yo I'll solve it
Check out the hook while Shay revolves it

P.S. (hed) PE stinks.

I've known
Faces that have disappeared in time
Find me wraPped in glass and slowly soaked in lime
All my
Friends have pictures made to make you cry
I've seen this and wondered
What i've done to calcify

(I ignore you)
As i close my eyes,
I feel it all slipping away
(I come towards you)
We all got left behind,
We let it all slip away
(I ignore you)
And now i close my eyes,
I feel it all slipping away
(I come towards you)
We all got left behind,
We let it all slip away

I can't stand to see
Your thalidomide robot face
I Don't even try it
You had to be a liar
Just to infiltrate me
I'm still drowning!

(I ignore you)
As i close my eyes,
I feel it all slipping away
(I come towards you)
We all got left behind,
We let it all slip away
(I ignore you)
As i close my eyes,
I feel it all slipping away
(I come towards you)
We all got left behind,
We let it all slip away

Take this away
Take this away
I can feel you in my mouth
I can taste you on my fingers
I can hear you like the Holy Ghost
And kill you if you get too close

As i close my eyes,
I feel it all slipping away
(I come towards you)
We all got left behind,
We let it all slip away
(I ignore you)
As i close my eyes,
I feel it all slipping away
(I come towards you)
We all got left behind,
We let it all slip away!!!!!

I close my eyes,
Only for a moment
And the moment's gone.
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes of curiosity.
Dust in the wind:
All we are is dust in the wind.

Same old song,
Just a drop of water
In an endless sea.
All we do
Crumbles to the ground,
Though we refuse to see.

Dust in the wind,
All they are is dust in the wind

Now, don't hang on;
Nothing lasts forever
But the earth and sky;
It slips away,
And all your money
Won't another minute buy.

Dust in the wind:
All we are is dust in the wind.
Dust in the wind:
Everything is dust in the wind.

(Everything is dust in the wind.
In the wind....)

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in a war,
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here

This is Genabis, remember this...

In the beginning I discovered wordplay
I experimented with some syllables from the first to the third day
On the fourth I searched for the words to say
How to compress complex verbiage in the least amount of space
I was perfect at it, and mastered the tactic's
On the fifth day I decided I would combine it with mathematics
On the sixth day I became a fanatic and I couldnt kick the habit
I would just look in the mirror and practice
On the seventh cycle, I had to take the day off
I was exhausted I guessed my work will never pay off
But if it happened it to him, it could happen to me
And if it happened to me, it was destined to be

Yo, Genabis, Exobus, Levitibus
There aint a mic on this planet I'm restricted to touch
I read the cosmo's but God wrote predicted as much
The inhabitants lack faith but resistance is tough

They backslide back to church and call a minister's bluff
They rather remain unenlightened then listen to Bus
I blew the f--k up, even though it was short and abrupt
I was the first rapper to ever to close orbit the sun
One small step for man, one huge step for mankind
I am the red giant of rhymes
Solar deflectors, incinerate you whole in a second
Flow is untested those that I've threatened fold under pressure
At 120 Beta cycles, high volts ignite your eyeballs
Until you see the fire in front of you
Optic cone rods, melt one at a time till you realize you in hell
Rip the Jacker's not done with you
I terrorize the rap community with impunity
Blow you to pieces and move elusively thru the debris
What my enemies want to do to me is old news to me
Those that pursue to me will never get thru to me

Yo, Genabis, Exobus, Levitibus
There aint a mic on this planet I'm restricted to touch
I read the cosmo's but God wrote predicted as much
The inhabitants lack faith but resistance is tough

First rapper to speak over beats dogmatically
Mixed with Elizabethian drama and tragedy
My motto is to dress casually and live lavishly
Look at the Victorian tapestry in back of me
Notice the post renaissance pictures I drew
Hand sketched drawings of the deserts in Nazca Peru
The followable audio propogates the possible truth
For proof I'm the illest so the choice is not unto you
See the standard ideological definition of a rap model
Its Canibus scholarly periodicals
The article is substantially impressive, more then a message
A working thesis from several different perspectives
The Rosetta stone of sentences
For rap music's tentative
Enter apprentices

Getting back to GOOD lyrics....;)

In slid rhythm, fed a cycle bound by dilemma, debt, and vendetta
Escaped briefly back to my apartment to park in front the fan
And reminisce about the day I ran a mile with your heart in my hand
Contestants get the New York home game with real live shoot-'em-up action
Thug, vagrant, yuppie and art freak game piece all included
I told this cat the earth was flat
He walked 'til his beard grew long enough to strangle himself for being stupid
Its brick-a-brack novelties spliced with that six pack odyssey
Godspeed, tequila worm future, be concerned
My feelers spread across the land reporting avalanche sightings
While my introverted side is flying cadavers on kite strings
I'm a never give, I'm juiced off projection
I'm stubborn as a thousand born-agains avoiding questions
From the alpha to the zed
I bait this data for my pledge to bathe a traitor
In the twice forgotten favors that he bled
And not a creative stirred
It reeks of subway metal, bevel edged journalist chin-on-fist shenanigans
Re-coin mayhem with bonuses, benefits and break room
Mummified maniquins with future clenched adament and skeleton in cabinet
This amalgram circus got a ring of fire
Just big enough to shove my purpose in the circle
I'm known to dip dusk in a broken city curfew
Release the hounds
To see which one could track the trail in circles, sucka'
I lay the law down upon its belly while my foot
Dug in between the 3rd and 4th disc yelling 'break yo'self'
I finally actualized data commission
Past penny tip jar donation arrangement, but a far fetch from stability
Took a hard pledge early on
Blood donor to drum dozer plowing the metronome home
Blown caddy-cornered to cockeyed sound booster
Sensationally seismograph
Stabbing away on stone tablet to sketch a grouchy future
I drifted out the main spelunking unit with watered down
Sample of cancelled development, courtesy America
Land of the freebase, home of the triplicate grill character
My sorta sideways tilt called pinball blinker, if citizens 1 through x
Weren't steadied for this leaning grievance with dilapidated winter jacket
I rock a crooked lead piece and sweat a bit to my wookie ends meet
Pacifist, willing to step into a friend's beef if needed
Wing clipper out hierarchy
Passionate while they whine on some 'daddy's gonna kill Ralphie' s--t
Suck the proverbial silver spoon 'til their parents quit apparently
Parasol spinning casually
Like 'I'm an artist, please don't laugh at me'
OK, time to buckle the f--k down
Solder your wobbly system back to original form, pumpkin
You could catch the memoir in several dimensions

Hence your plight botches

One of, maybe my favorite verse of all time...

Nas, Nas is Like

"Nas is like..." Earth Wind & Fire, rims and tires...
Bulletproof glass, inside is the realest driver...
Planets in orbit, line 'em up with the stars...
Tarot cards, you can see the pharaoh Nas...
"Nas is like..." Iron Mike, messiah type...
Before the Christ, after the death...
The last one left, let my cash invest in stock...
Came a along way from blastin, techs on blocks...
Went from Seiko to Rolex, ownin' acres...
From the projects with no chips, to large cake dough...
Dimes, givin' fellatio, siete zeros...
Bet my nine spit for the pesos...
But what's it all worth, can't take it when you under this Earth...
Rich men died and tried, but none of it worked...
They just rob your grave, I'd rather be alive and paid...
Before my number's called, history's made...
Some'll fall, but I rise, thug or die...
Makin' choices, that determine my future under the sky...
To rob steal or kill, I'm wondering why...
It's a dirty game, is any man worthy of fame?
Much success to ya, even if you wish me the opposite...
Sooner or later we'll all see who the prophet is...

Masta Killa, Wu-Tang Clan, Da Mystery of Chessboxin

Homicide's illegal and death is the penalty...
What justifies the homicide, when he dies?
In his own iniquity it's the...
Master of the Mantis Rapture comin at ya...
We have an APB on an MC Killa...
Looks like the work of a Masta...
Evidence indicates that's it's stature...
Merciless like a terrorist, hard to capture...
The flow, changes like a chameleon...
Plays like a friend, and stabs you like a dagger...
This technique attacks the immune system...
Disguised like a lie paralyzin the victim...
You scream, as it enters your bloodstream...
Erupts your brain from the pain these thoughts contain...
Movin on a n*gga with the speed of a centipede...
and injure... Any Mother****in' Contender!

Dead Kennedys - MTV get off of the air

Fun Fun Fun in the fluffy chair
Flame up the herb
Wolf down the beer
- (click!) -

Hi
I'm your video DJ
I always talk like I'm wigged out on Quaaludes
I wear a satin baseball jacket everywhere I go

My job is to help destroy
What's left of your imagination
By feeding you endless doses
Of sugar-coated mindless garbage

So don't create
Be sedate
Be a vegetable at home
And thwack on that dial
If we have our way even you will believe
This is the future of rock and roll...

How far will you go
How low will you stoop
To tranquilize our minds with your sugar-coated swill

You've turned rock and roll rebellion
Into Pat Boone sedation
Making sure there's nothing left of the imagination

M.T.V. Get off the
M.T.V. Get off the
M.T.V. Get off the air
Get off the air

See the latest rejects from the muppet show
Wag their d**ks and their t**ts
As they lip-sync on screen

There's something I don't like
About a band who always smiles
Another tax write-off
For some schmuck who doesn't care

M.T.V. Get off the air

And so it was
Our beloved corporate gods
Claimed they created rock video
Allowing it to sink as low in one year
As commercial TV has in 25

"It's the new frontier," they say
It's wide open, anything can happen
But you've got a lot of nerve
To call yourself a pioneer
When you're too god-damn conservative
To take real chances

Tin-eared
Graph-paper brained accountants
Instead of music fans
Call all the shots at giant record companies now
The lowest common denominator rules

Forget honesty
Forget creativity
The dumbest buy the mostest
That's the name of the game

But sales are slumping
And no one will say why
Could it be they put out
One too many lousy records?!?

M.T.V.--Get off the air!
NOW!

the thing about this song is how amazingly true it is, when it was writtin in like 85" and MTV had just came out a little bit before, just shows how brilliant Jello Biafra was and how far ahead of the rest of the people in his time
