They are/were on tonight. Out here on the West Coast it starts in 15 minutes on VH1. They pay honors to Cube, Rakim, Eazy-E, many more and the Wu. I've heard the Wu performance is "Triumph" and Method gets crazy, I also heard Ghostface isn't at the show. There also was a Q-Tip/Diddy tribute to the Beastie Boys I've heard. Overall, I heard it was a good show and worth the watch, I'll post more after I watch it in the upcoming hour. I'll look for performances on Youtube as well.

I just finished looking at it. It was pretty good. I won't do any spoilers though so I'll post about it later.

Just saw the Beastie Boys performance. I like how they freestyled over Fabulous' Breathe beat. Q-Tip, Diddy and Fabulous did well as the Beasties as well, in the sweatsuits and all.

beastie boys was hott. Rakim's performance was hott. So was Cube's. I keep forgetting how influential Cube has been to the game. He gets further up my all-time fav's list. MC Lyte brought back memories. I used to love hearing her rap. Overall the show was tight. I'm just mad I missed the Wu-tang part.

That was the worst Hip-hop honors yet, in my opinion. Things I saw that were wrong:

- Lil' John should never be performing a Wu-Tang song - Ever.

- Why the hell do they keep inviting Fat Joe back every year, and why was he asked to pay homage to Afrika Bambatta? I see minimal influence from Afrika in his music. Plus he's just wack anyways, and needs to fade into hip-hop oblivion.

- Why was Black Thought in like every performance?

- Why didn't they just inducted Dr. Dre with Easy and Cube, and just honor NWA all at once? It's kind of a slap in the face if you ask me.

- As much as I love Wu-Tang, they shouldn't have got the last performance of the night. New York bias, I guess. That being said, they rocked the house, regardless, so I can't really complain.

- Rakim is arguably the greatest of all-time so why are they just now inducting him after 3 years? He should've been on the first ballots.

On the plus side, Rakim's new joint is sick from what I heard, and Salt-N-Pepa still look good as hell (especially Salt)....:D

Amen, that's a slap in the face to all Wu fans.

The performance was very good, the Wu MC's should have been involved in the other performances more, Raekwon was in one I believe. They were basically rapping along with the performances all night in the stands. And, there was no Ghostface Killah? :(

Also, I was liking Q-Tip's Steve Urkal look...

i felt sick while watching that 'hip-hop honors'

trashy parts

YOUNG JEEZY honoring the great Eazy-E? i felt offended when i saw that

LIL JOHN performing a Wu-Tang song....i got even more pi5sed off

ICE CUBE performing his newer music with lil jon instead of performing his older classic jams???

LIL KIM perfoming an MC lyte track?

FAT JOE

good parts

seeing Afrika, the Wu, Rakim, Ice Cube, Ice T all under one roof

MC lytes nomination video, the part when she says that she let KRS-ONE listen to a sample of her music and KRS said "this is wack"

seeing the WU reunited

seeing DJ Yella (its been years since ive seen him on a stage)

seeing Bone Thugs along with Lil E perform a song in memory of one of the GOATS

it was ok, but seeing young jeezy perform in memory of E made me sick to my stomach.....

i wanted MC Ren, Dj Yella, Ice Cube to have performed all together for Eazy while wearing their Compton/ LA Raider hats, gold rope chains and raider jackets like they did in the old days

Those are some legitimate issues right there. As much as I love Black Thought, I was getting sick of seeing him in every performance. Lil' Jon is not a rapper. He's just a hyped-up hype man. He should never be given the mic ever in life to rap cause he just can't do it. I kinda feel you with Wu-Tang though. They're great but they didn't have the impact Rakim did though. Shoulda had Rakim as the last performance of the night at least.

It's a west coast bias. Most of the groupie fans, they indulge in east coast artist's like wu-tang, biggie, nas, to name a few. It's disgusting how the west is overlooked, just because the groupies jock the latter. Fruitcakes like Lupe (CHI) are embraced with open arms while dogz like cube get slept on....stay spittin "pollyseeds".

I think the reason why they let Jeezy rep for Eazy-E is because of his Crip affilitation. Its hard to confirm it but that was my initial thought. ANd if thats the case isnt that crazy that even VH-1 pays attention to gang affiliations and such. This ish is deeper than people think. If you noticed Lil Eazy E had his blue rag for all to see. IMO it was Crip showing love for Crip. Did Big Eazy E ever divulge what his affiliations was? I know that Lil Eazy E is down with Crips. But was Big Eazy ever claiming Crip or Blood?????

Eazy E (the original one) was a kelly park compton crip.....

he didnt say it in any of his tracks but he got more involved with the crips once he started dissing Death Row. he was a crip along with Gangsta Dresta and the original baby gangsta

Crips and Bloods...another reason I dislike west coast rap.

While they were busy shooting each other KRS-One, Kool Moe Dee, Melle Mel, Flash, Caz, Busy Bee, etc. were all getting gangs OUT of NYC.

Agreed… but West Coast rap is still ok.

I think that West Coast rap is what draws new fans in and East Coast rap is what keeps them listening.

read this and it might help yall understand

if im correct, NYC is another city that is still plagued with gangs

gangs are a part of the Cali lifestyle. alot of musicians from the west are in gangs but its because of pride towards their hoods and not because they have an urge to engage in killing each other.

heres proof of what i said....if you look at WC from the Westside Connection hes a crip but its because hes proud of being from LA, Mack 10 is a Blood because hes proud to be from Inglewood, MC Eiht is a Tragnew Crip because hes from Compton and it evident since hes part of Comptons Most Wanted, Daz And Kurupt are both Crips and so was Snoop (before he turned soft) The Game is a blood because hes from compton....and so on

even DJ quik was a blood........but all these affiliations are due to pride, being in a gang is no different to what people in NYC say "im from tha boogey down!" and "from across the bridge"

but not all artists are in gangs, like Ice Cube, Tupac, Too Short, Dr.Dre, The DOC, E-40, Cypress Hill, Kid Frost, Xzibit, Mac Dre

and KRS, some of your fav artists like Zion I, Hieroglyphics, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and Aceyalone are from, and are rising here in CA
