Okay-when you think about why they don't, 2 things quickly come to mind:
1-There isn't a big enough market for a high school basketball game
and/or
2-It would be way too complicated, with so many high schools every where.
But I have solutions to both of those.
First, the complication. Yeah-there's tens of thousands of high schools in America. All with different team names, uniforms, and really unique gyms. I wouldnt expect anyone to be able to put all of that in to one game.
BUT-what if they put all the perennial powerhouses of each state, of each class in the game? That wouldn't be too hard.
Thats one solution.
Another is-what if they just gave you so much room to customize everything? They could give you 300 fictional schools, and you could edit none of them, or all of them.
You could choose team colors, nickname, school name, town or city it's in, enrollment, style of play, prestige of school and design a gym from a template of options. Then you could select any of the 50 states high school basketball system-the way they do classes (1A, 2A, 3A etc...) and the way they do regional, sectional, and state tournaments. BOOM-you have a high school basketball game.
The 3rd option is realeasing a different version of the game for every region of the country-or even every state-to cut down on having to process so many different schools, you know? The southwest version-the mid-atlantic version, new england version, deep south version, mid-south version, midwest version, west coast version.
or, like I said every state, so I order or buy the Arizona version, and the game has just the high schools from arizona, and all their info.
You could do a combination of all 3 of those ideas, or just stick to one or two.
Now-that we've got the game made-who will buy it?
Ummm....how about the millions of high school kids who are already playing NBA & College basketball games? Would they not think it would be cool as hell to play as their high school-and defeat their cross-town rivals?
What about all the high school athletes-who would wanna play as their team?
What about all the older people, like me who would want to play as their former high school?
There is nothing like state championships.....
I think there's a hell of a market for it, and I think there's a way to dit, so I think someone should!!! (2K Sports????)
Ill even consult you on the developing process.
