If you read the podcast#3 with Redick, he mentions that Morrison is also on a cover of a college sports game. Well there really isn't any other option besides March Madness, so I guess there will be one this year. If it's anything like Live, 2K7 is gonna blow it out of the water

yea.. for some reason they never even come close to the NBA games in popularity... even though, in both cases, they're usually better than the NBA games.

I found out that most people who act like the love basketball, really don't know **** about it. These same people can't name 20 players in the NBA and 20 college teams. They only know names like, Shaq, Kobe, Bron,Wade,Duke,UNC and UCLA.
I've heard people say, "I don't watch college basketball because they not pros."

yea I know what you mean. I mean, i'll admit, for college i'm pretty much just a Michigan fan for college. I watch the tournament and a few other games. I do watch just about all the Michigan games. And I do watch all Pistons games and quite a few other games. '
But yea I know what you mean, most "basketball fans" are really just fans of NBA stars..

Yeah, I'm the same way with college football. I only watch Alabama football games.

I am a bball coach, and being one and being someone who enjoys the fundamentals of the game, I can't stand the NBA! I used to joke around that NBA should stand for No Basketball Allowed! "With basketball, we are the only country in the world to create a sport, and then have our main professional league in that sport not play it the way it was meant to be played." That was a quote I got from someone. The NBA is not true basketball. The college game and the international games are. Everything in the NBA is run around Isolation plays. Heck, until a couple of years ago you couldn't even run a zone, and now when you do run a zone there is a 3 second violation on the defense! What is the point of running a zone if you can't pack the lane? They don't call walks like they should, carrying the ball, they can't shoot, to me, it is awful and I hate watching it. I could go on for ever so I had better quit there for now.

I feel you. I said some of the same things about the NBA on these boards and got blasted.

Yeah I probably will too, but if you look at the game, it is the truth, there is no way around it.

Yeah my main thing about the NBA vs college or high school is that in the NBA, it's a bunch of guys playing 82 games a year, not counting pre & post-season. A bunch of guys getting paid millions.
And it is so predictable like Bob said-with the isolation all the time. When I think of what I don't like about the NBA, I think of a really slow, uneventful regular season game that doesnt matter with Shaq backing up someone in the post while the cheesy organ plays....
yeah, it's basically the energy that lacks from NBA ball-even in the play-offs sometimes....
In college, every game matters-those guys arent getting anything except room & board and books-and most of them are never gonna play in the NBA, and know it-so they're playing their hearts out for 15 minutes of fame-the college game is so much more diverse-just like an any sport-with team strategy, style of play and whatnot....
however, i seriously doubt ea is putting out a MM. They would have SOMETHING up on their site by now....
God-let's hope it's not Final Four that Morrison's on....989 sucks

I definitely agree with you guys in regard to the NBA. I made the same point on another board. All summer long I was hyping up NBA 2K7, now I'm hyping up College Hoops. One guy questioned why I hyped up NBA 2K7 so much just to put it aside when College Hoops gets released. I told him because college ball > NBA ball. If it wasn't for showtime plays, I doubt the NBA would have any popularity. But I enjoy playing college games (football and basketball) more over the pro games because of the atmosphere, the recruiting, and the sheer number of teams to choose from. Every pro game I get, I play it hardcore for the first week, then I get bored with it, regardless of how good it is. NBA 2K7 is a good game, but it's boring to me and I think it's because underneath the NBA is boring.

I'm the same way.
I love NBA 2K7 but I don't play it a lot. I'm playing Saints Row until CH2k7 drops. Then it's pretty much over for any other games.

No. 1 Selling College Basketball Game* Will Debut on Xbox 360 and a Demo will be Available to Download Beginning Nov. 14 from Xbox Marketplace
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – October 30, 2006 – Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) announced today that Adam Morrison, who led the NCAA® in Division I men’s basketball scoring last year and was the third overall draft pick of the Charlotte Bobcats in the NBA, has been selected the new face of NCAA® March Madness® 07, scheduled for release January 16, 2007 under the EA SPORTS™ brand.
NCAA March Madness 07 debuts on the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system by delivering a strategic basketball gameplay experience and next generation feature set that captures the intensity and atmosphere that characterizes college basketball. Never before have home court and the home crowd meant more as your players either rise to the occasion or wilt under the pressure of charged-up, authentic college courts. Feel the intensity rise, then watch as each player responds differently, trying to maintain composure. As the atmosphere heats up your player composure ratings affect the all-new Intensity Control that changes momentum by allowing you to pump up the crowd, motivate your teammates, raise your own composure or even intimidate your opponent. Plus, become immersed like never before by interacting with student sections, school mascots, cheerleaders, and even the band.
“I have always felt that a raucous crowd behind you like those at Gonzaga University gave the team an extra boost. I fed off the emotion of the home crowd and replicating this atmosphere in NCAA March Madness 07 is being true to college basketball fans,” said Morrison.
Fans will have the opportunity to experience the all-new interactive environments by downloading an NCAA March Madness 07 demo from Xbox Marketplace on November 14 prior to the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational, the unofficial start to the college basketball season. This demo will feature the defending NCAA Division I champion and the top 2 ranked teams in the game, the No. 1 Florida Gators against the No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks.
Morrison, 22, led the NCAA® Division I in scoring as a junior forward last season with Gonzaga, averaging 28.1 points per game and setting a school record with 926 points. He was a finalist for the Wooden and Naismith Player of the Year awards. Morrison is the third straight Bobcat to be featured on the cover of an NCAA March Madness video game, joining current teammates Raymond Felton (2006) and Emeka Okafor (2005) as EA SPORTS cover athletes on the No. 1 selling college basketball videogame*.
Beyond the atmosphere, NCAA March Madness 07 delivers an authentic college basketball gameplay experience by offering custom playbooks for each team through the Floor General Playcalling system, the EA SPORTS Lockdown Stick that allows your players to pressure the ball, force turnovers and harass opponents on the court, and an enhanced Dynasty Mode™ with new School Pride and Recruiting features that let you build your school into a national powerhouse. In addition, the popular voices of college basketball are back with ESPN’s **** Vitale and Brad Nessler calling the action courtside.
“There’s no place like home in college basketball. A loud and boisterous home crowd is a big advantage and fuels the momentum of a game, especially when it smells a comeback,” said ESPN’s **** Vitale, one of the voices of NCAA March Madness 07. “I hear it all the time from freshmen Diaper Dandies. They don’t think the crowd is going to affect them but when you walk into some of these arenas and hear the fans for the first time, it can be unnerving.”
With the most advanced ESPN integration package available in NCAA March Madness 07, fans connected online via Xbox LIVE® will be able to watch college basketball game highlights, segments from Pardon the Interruption and Around the Horn, interviews and analysis from SportsCenter, and more. Fans will also be able to download and listen to ESPN radio podcasts as they play NCAA March Madness 07, including segments from Dan Patrick, Mike & Mike, Stephen A. Smith and others. All this is in addition to live ESPN Radio SportsCenter updates every 20 minutes, the ESPN Ticker and ESPNews.
NCAA March Madness 07 is in development at EA Canada in Vancouver, B.C., and will be available on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. The game is not yet rated by the ESRB.

It is true that the NBA has gone down since Jordan played, but I feel that it is making a strong comeback in the last 2 seasons.
I also feel that when NBA players are on,they are quite good, and in many ways better than the NCAA.I do love college basketball though, and I know what you mean about how certain aspects of the game are lost in today's pro game.
For one thing, the NBA coaches and general managers are to blame. They are all about drafting athleticism over team-oriented players. How impressive a guy can dunk is more important to them than players who can pass, shoot, and play within a system.
Secondly, the schedule itself is a HUGE factor. When you have an 82 game schedule,AND a marathon playoff, you are simply not going to be able to go all out like the NCAA players do,who have a much shorter schedule and a 1 game elimanation playoff, per round.
As far as the rules concerning zones and traveling go,I completely agree, but it is the league's fault, not the players.
It should be noted that the talent level in the NBA today is higher than ever.

I agree that the talent level is higher, but, I think that better BASKETBALL players played the game in the NBA twenty years ago. What I mean is people who actually understand basketball, and, most importantly, people who can shoot! The shooting in the NBA is awful! That is why we get beat in international play. I had a longtime coach tell me the other day that in his experience, the NBA is only the third or fourth best basketball league in the world, based on the fact that everywhere else you go the emphasis is put on the fundamentals of the game, not who can dunk it. Until the NBA gets back to the roots and its players actually study and become good at the fundamental aspects of the game, it will be the same story over and over. It just gets old. Teams today play terrible defense, the transition game is almost non-existent, and, like I already said, the shooting is AWFUL!
