The Documentary wasn't that bad?? Is was a classic IMO
BUT:
Ive had this album for about two weeks and have listened to it alot. Its a really good album but its just a notch below The Documentary but he definately proves that he doesn't need Dre and 50 to make a great album. I Love Let's Ride, it has like an old school West Coast feel. One of my favorite songs is Wouldn't Get Far feat. Kanye West, he talks about video models and just the rap game in general. Plus Kanye puts a real good verse on it. "Head so good he'll ask for a Pre......Nup lol" You'll know what Im talkin about when you hear it. Ol' English is my next favorite, has a real chill feel, reminds me of a Timbaland beat or something he would produce. Trust me you won't be disappointed.

The Game isn't as good as Lil Wayne or Young Jeezy, so this album is pointless.

I've had this album about a week and it's not as good as The Documentary. It's a solid album!

Just from the few spins I've given it the last few days, I've gotta say, he really stepped his game up on this album (no pun). I'm not even really a Game fan, but I've gotta give props where they're due. So far, it's been one of the top 2-3 albums of the year (but that's subject to change with Nas and Jay dropping soon).
My favorite tracks are:
Old English (Hi-Tek blessed Game with that ill beat)
Lookin' at you
Around the World
Why Hate the Game (favorite track on the album)
Doctor's Advocate (he has that same drunken flow he had on "Start from scratch")
Wouldn't get too far
Remedy (Just Blaze killed it with this beat)
Da Sh*t (I like this track because of the voice sample they used of Clarence Williams III from the movie "Tales from the Hood." Had me rollin'. "Ahhhhhhh, THE SH*T!" :rotfl:)
Only problem I have with the album is the endless name-dropping that he does throughout almost every track. That's always been Game's style, but still, it get's old pretty quick after a few songs. He needs to find a new gimmick.
Most note-worthy line on the whole album, to me, was this line, from "Doctor's advocate":
"I'm not askin' you to take my side in the beef, but you told me it was okay to say, "F*ck the police."
(referring to NWA's infamous track, "**** the police", while also sending a diss towards Fiddy, insinuating that he's affiliated with the the cops, and is basically, a snitch. Thought that was a slick line.)
Overall, a solid sophomore effort, and a great follow-up album to "The Documentary"
Worth checking out, in my opinion.......

I just heard his remix to One Blood. It got like 25 folks spittin' verses on it. Way too many folks. Not really any memorable verses but its an alright attempt.

Yeah, I heard it, too. Nothing to really get excited over. Twista, Nas, and Ja Rule (believe it or not) had the best verses, but they were still only decent, at best. Like you said, too many cats on one track; it got a bit repetitive after the first 7-10 verses.......

I used to get excited about collaboration songs. Now I'm indifferent. Folks seem like they don't even want to pull out any good verses when they collaborate with anyone. Plus with a large collaboration like that they shoulda switched up the beat a couple of times to at least show a little bit of creativity.

IMO Nas' verse was weak, same with twista. Clipse, fab and kurupt did stand out to me though but in the end ja was the strongest on it. That's probably why the whole song led up to his verse.

This is a good album, and I'd suggest picking it up (or downloading it) if you like The Game. It's not as good as his first IMO, which is one of my all time favorites, but being the big Game fan I am, I like this one. I'd give it a 7.5/10, and in relation to his first, I'd give Documentary a 8.5/10. After I listen to it a bit more, I may rate it a bit higher.
Favorite tracks... Why Hate the Game, Old English, Doctor's Advocate and Remedy.

I just heard the remix. That ish was crazy, all those artists on the same track. How many total artists not including the game was on that song? I was surprised that Ja Rule was on the track, because of the G-Unit Game vs Ja Rule beef, but I guess they squashed it. That song had a subliminal message. It was basically a F U to all of G-unit saying that the game doesn't need any of them because he got the rest of hihp hop on his side. Also majority of the people on the track has a dislike for 50.

k i dont really like this cd. kanye kills his verse for sure, but other than that i didnt feel hardly any song. he sounded way too much like dr dre, no wonder he called it the doctor's advocate cuz he completely stole his whole flow. f game, i liked his mixtapes better than this weak cd.

I don't know man. It seems like each track is either hit or miss. Overall it doesn't have the same cohesiveness or flow like the Documentary. With that said, DA definitely has some standout tracks. Remedy is easily my favorite track. Game absolutely killed this PE beat.
You know though, this probably isn't the right time for me to review Doctors Advocate. I've been in a straight thrash metal mood for the past month or two. It isn't easy to switch from metal to hip-hop, with the exception of some of my old school ****. Give me some time get into the right mindset. I just can't get into any new hip-hop right now.
I'm not going to judge the album until I can go in with open ears.

No I'm not a G-Unit fan. I wouldn't call myself a hater but I don't like very much that comes out of their camp. I do enjoy most of 50's underground stuff though.
I think Game is a better rapper than anyone in G-Unit at this point. Like I said, I probably judged the Doctors Advocate way too early considering the fact that I had literally listened to metal all day when I downloaded the album.

I preview the tracks on iTunes and downloaded 2 of the songs from Limewire:
Scream On Em'
Compton
Those tracks are the only ones i like so far besides One Blood.
After listening to it more Da Sh** is a good song IMO (I like the beginning when the 2 guys are talking)

I assume you guys have had time to listen to this album so what do you think of it? Now that ive had 2 days this album isnt that bad. Its a classic for sure with tracks like One Blood,Compton,Da Sh**,Scream on Em',Let's Ride and Doctors Advocate this album might be almost as good as The Doctumentary. I like the tracks on DA better than the Doc. cause they seem like there are better i dont know why. I mean the Doc. had a few great tracks but the rest of the tracks seemed kinda stale to me but this album seems like every track can be a hit. Not everyone of them but Da Sh**,Doctors Advocate and Scream on Em' seem like they can be possible singles.
