Well I haven't seen much discussion of this genre here which is shameful!
I'm taking the initiative to start one and see if there are other fans out there of some soothing and rythmic tunes with creative lyrics and stellar vocals.
I'll put up reviews of albums, discuss artists et cetera; hopefully some discussion is generated, and/or interest in the genre.
Some of my favourite artists:
Maxwell
Rahsaan Patterson
D'Angelo
Raphael Saadiq
Kem
Bilal
Anthony Hamilton
Van Hunt
Steve Spacek

I'm a big fan of D'Angelo and Anthony Hamilton. Soulife from Hamilton is a classic album and Voodoo is good as well, Untitled is one of my all time favorite songs, not the video, but the song is very good... ;)
Well I tried to be good (I tried)...
Wanted nothing but to love somebody...
Didn't want to die young, started hustlin' trying to feed my family...
Too scared to have kids can't do like daddy did, cause I'm so scared of failing...
Sometimes I get lost, coming from where I'm from...

Floetry, Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott, Bilal, and Raphael Saadiq are some of my all-time favorites. Family Reunion by Jill Scott and Imagination by Floetry are pure hypnotism for the mind, body and soul. Soul is soul as long as it soothes the soul. It's hard to choose, so I refuse to vote! I love them all...

Neo soul (also known as nu soul) is a musical genre that fuses contemporary R&B, 1970s style soul, hip hop and jazz. It is the third major sub-genre of contemporary R&B, after the new jack swing of the late 1980s to early/mid 1990s and the hip hop soul of the mid to late 1990s. The "neo soul" term, originated by Kedar Massenburg of Motown Records in the late-1990s, is sometimes looked upon with disdain as nothing more than a marketing specialization of contemporary R&B instead of an honest revival of soul music. This is because most of the people who record in the genre and listen to it tend to be anti-mainstream preferring that the music favor underground credibility and soulfulness over mainstream popularity.

Cool! D'Angelo is mad talented. His tracks are just classic.
My favourite song from him is "GreatDayInDaMornin'". One of my all-time favourites. I like Anthony Hamilton too, but I don't think he's as good as D'Angelo.

Cool! Great to see you feeling Bilal, he's awesome! Have you checked out his latest album? I can't fault him at all. Jill Scott is not bad, but I must admit I listen to more male singers, not sure why that is.
Raphael Saadiq is great! Tony Toni Tone's track "Anniversary" is one of my all-time favourite tracks.

Same. And you're right, I see the similarities. Kem is more jazz than other soul artists. Also very adult, but nonetheless I love his work. Just great to mellow out to.
lllllll23lllllll, Mariners in 2006, Janelly1810 - you ever checked out Rahsaan Patterson (best vocalist I've ever heard in my life), Steve Spacek or Maxwell?
I ask because they're very similar to Kem, D'Angelo, et cetera. Whenever you guys get time do yourselves a favour and check 'em out!
