when kobe was criticizing the lakers and bynum a few years back, the media was all over him. the media jumps on any drama, because drama = ratings.

and kobe is much better than iverson at this point so it doesn't really matter.

i mean i'm with iverson and all that, and i believe he should be getting some minutes, but that comparison doesn't stand. iverson is coming off a bad season and injury problems, he's gotta earn his spot, reputation shouldn't = minutes. but if he continues to play like this and the grizzlies still don't give him the minutes, that's just dumb.

i dont think u can compare ben to ai?? come on man. ben wallace..
if ben was the only person on detroit a few years back and bringin his team to the playoffs every year like ai did then i could see the comparison.. ben wallace had other players on his team that was helpin out. and besides he was told that his role would consist of help rebuilding..

First off I why did Iverson think they were NOT rebuilding? Come on man.

This is the Grizzlies when was the last time you saw them compete at any level? You saw them give away Pau for a bag of beans. You saw them take a lottery pick last year with Mayo. And they had the #2 pick this year. What made you think they weren't rebuilding? Common sense.

I understand his frustration though, he should be starting on that team but if he thought he was going anywhere with a squad that is starting Zach Randolph then he's mistaken.

You are such an Iverson homer / apologist that it is not even funny. Iverson went to Memphis not because it was a championship caliber team but because they were one of the few teams who would even consider signing him.

Why didn't other teams want to sign him?

Q. Do you understand what Hollins is trying to do by gradually bringing you along?

Iverson: I understand what he's doing. But he's seen the things I've done. He knows I've never come off the bench in my whole career. He knows that's not something I'm accustomed to. He knows that's not something I would want to do. ...Everybody knows that's not something I want to do.

And I know people are watching my every move and watching to see if I'm sitting over there pouting. My son is at home watching the same thing.

I don't want to be the guy who is a distraction to this squad but everybody knows I'd be fake if I said, 'Yeah, I'm so happy with everything that's going on.' It would just be too fake so I wouldn't even play that game.
EVERYBODY knows, that's why I told you last year before the off-season that teams like Orlando, San Antonio etc would not touch him with a 1000 foot pole. Of course you along with other Iverson apologists wanted to have us believe that Iverson was willing to come off the bench in order to win a championship, and he was willing to take a reduced role. The reason no contenders, and even no middle of the pack teams went after him was because he wanted to start. Memphis was the only team he found where there was a possibility of a starting role for him.

Iverson really needs to come back to reality if he thinks Memphis was the place to go to win a championship. Also the Grizzlies problem isn't even their offense, their offensive is fine, but their defense is atrocious.

Default Hollins Already Tired of Iverson Talk

Hollins Already Tired of Iverson Talk

Quote:
Four games into the Memphis Grizzlies' season, head coach Lionel Hollins says he's done talking about Allen Iverson.

Well, not done all together. But apparently done talking about what Iverson says. Two days ago, Iverson complained about a lack of playing time after he made his Grizzlies' debut in Sacramento, and it was clear those statements didn't sit well with Hollins.

"I'm not commenting on Allen," Hollins said Wednesday when asked if he was surprised by Iverson's comments. "I'm done commenting on what Allen says. Allen has a right to say whatever he wants to say. ... Most of you are ready to leave now, huh?"

Iverson missed the first three regular-season games and all of training camp with a partial tear in his hamstring. He scored 11 points in 18 minutes in an overtime loss to the Kings on Monday.
After the game, Iverson was asked about his hamstring.

"I had no problems (with the hamstring)," Iverson responded. "I had a problem with my butt from sitting on that bench so long. That's the only thing I got a problem with."

When Hollins met the media 90 minutes before Tuesday's tip-off against the Warriors, the first topic that came up was Iverson. Hollins eventually expounded on why he was tired of the Iverson topic already.

"My frustration is I have to talk about Allen Iverson in every press setting," Hollins said. "I want to talk about the Memphis Grizzlies, and even when Allen was out, I was having to talk about Allen. That's my frustration. I want to talk about the Memphis Grizzlies.

"If Allen plays well and you want to ask me how he played, that's great. Or if he plays poorly and you want to ask me how he played poorly, that's great, too."

If there's one thing Hollins was emphatic about it's that things aren't likely to change anytime soon.

"Allen has played 20 minutes in two months," Hollins said. "There's no way we're making a change and going in a different direction right now. You want to talk to me about the Memphis Grizzlies as a team? I'm not standing here talking about Allen Iverson. I'm sorry."

I think A.I should start.

I mean he dropped 18 off the bench last night. No Disrespect to Conley but the Grizzlies would have nothing to lose starting Iverson.

I agree with the op

No disrespect to Conley who is a hooper also

But the Grizzlies are not gonna make the playoffs and they have lost two games with A.I coming off the bench.

A.I should be a starter on the Memphis Grizzlies!!!

Iverson will be starting, but I can clearly understand where Hollins is coming from, Allen plays 27 minutes after coming back and he's complaining after one game? Hollins is basically saying "no, I'm not getting into this dilemma, it's not about Iverson it's about the Grizzlies."

well if every question people ask you is about one person that should tell you something... the rest of your team is not worth talking about...
