try to restart the game and dont use the keyboard (ie pressing enter when the game starts, etc) unless you are typing. if that doesnt work, go to Options>User Profiles>Select your profile then press 2 using your gamepad. that's crossover in the default controls or square in ps gamepad. that should load your controller into the online lobby.

to test if your gamepad is working in an online game, try browsing thru the online options like viewing 2kshare, online leagues and the likes by using your gamepad. if your gamepad works while doing the browsing thing, then your gamepad should be OK when playing an online game.

I have the same problem-I use a logitech controller and have unplugged keyboard and I still cant ready up on exhibition online, I have played a 3 on 3 street game though.I would really like to know how other people are readying up as I see some have 3 controllers and they just move them over to the middle.
I wish this game had chat or built in voice that would make things so much more easy.

try plugging your controller first (then hit refresh) before clicking the nba 2k10 icon in the desktop.

exit out of game completely and reload, and again go thru your pc menu to thee gaming folder..video game controller and make sure it's all synced up and you should be golden.

logitach dual action gamepad I think it's called shoudl be about 19.99 to 25 bucks. Unless you have a 360 controller that's even better. Both work perfect but 360 the buttons read the same, logitech it's all numbers, which isn't hard to pick up after a few games., 360's all letters like the game..

I wonder if the people giving advice has this game on pc, cause nothing suggested seems to be working, or maybe not clear enough. Man this is so frustrating cause I haven't been able to play one game online since i got this game, unless I use the keyboard to ready up. If I put the keyboard to the middle, it never readies up. shiiiiit!!

Well I fixed my problem, unplugged logitech dual action--plugged in xbox 360 controller, worked like a charm.

Ok, well I just played my first online game....soort of. I plugged the controller in (as someone suggested earlier) just before launching the game and it worked like a charm. The game was laggy, but playable. I was leading 24-14 in the second quarter when the guy quit on me, can you believe that? I wouldn't quit even if i was being pummeled....lol
