The typical camera angle for defense is the same as the offense camera angle.
I believe playing defense would be much more interesting if you could play FACING the Offense. This angle would mean when there is a running play you must go downhill and you can see whats in front of you better, like what the OL are doing. If you have ever played Maddens Superstar mode then you have an idea of what I am talking about. What do you all think of playing this way. |

It's ok, but it's really hard to tackle, and you can't see people behind you...

How would you defend the pass? You wouldn't be able to see the field unless you had the offense all the way at the top of the screen and zoomed way out. Would look kind of strange.

not bad for another camera option, wouldn't be a good default cam however.

I've been behind this idea since NFL 2k3. I used to lobby for this ALL the time here on this board when 2k5 came out. I called it Defensive Perspective camera angle (or whatever you'd like). With defensive perspective, when on defense, it's just as you described above. There are two ways to adjust to balls being thrown over your head:
A) After the snap (or pass, if it would make more sense), designate a button that when pressed, would quickly SWING the camera angle behind you to face the other side of the field (just like after a turnover). OR B) Have a setting (in Options or Presentation) where if you select, the ball will ALWAYS be in front of you, no matter what. That way, if the ball is thrown over your head, and you are controlling a DB or LB or whoever, the perspective is automatically swung towards the ball. Obviously this wouldn't work if playing in Versus mode, but in One Player (or even online Live), this can be used. |
